Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

I was driving an old hoopty through the savannah, when I saw an airfield on my map. I thought there might be a plane there, so I decided to check it out. As I got closer, someone shot at me from a makeshift sniper's nest in the open-air control tower. I gunned it, came up over a ridge and drove through some poor guy's chest before hitting the tower. Ran up it as fast as I could, stabbed the sniper in the crotch until he died, and took his Uzi and rifle. Someone I'd missed on the ground was taking shots up at me, so I dropped a molotov on him and turned my attention to the airport. I checked again a few seconds later to find the giant acacia tree behind me going up in flames.

Back to the airport, enemies start scrambling to find out what's going on. One guy is running backwards for some cover while keeping his eyes in my direction. I pop up my scope, give him a bit of lead, and fire. Too much lead, and I miss him by an inch... and hit the giant propane tank behind him, which shoots out a jet of flame, setting him on fire. He runs around a bit, and knocks over an explosive barrel before dying in a small grass fire he's started. That grass fire ignites the barrel, which explodes and rockets off toward the road on my right, directly into a jeep filled with assholes coming to ruin my sh*t, killing all of them in the ensuing explosion. The fire then spread toward the airport, quickly cooking the two remaining enemies.

There was no plane, I burned down half of Africa, and I could probably never recreate it in a million years.

Stuff like that is exactly why I voted for it too.

What is Sanctum? Is it any Darksiders?

It's kinda like Secret of the Magic Crystals.

Secret of the Magic Crystals

YOU MONSTERS.

Oh, that's where the copy you gifted me went? ;P

Sanctum was a good thing for me. Now my son and brother can join me for multiplayer.

You guys crack me up... I was going to ask what Secret of the Magic Crystals was, then I decided that was asking for trouble and looked it up... That IS monstrous...

If I'm in the kind of guy who once got a tattoo of a pegasus, would Secret of the Magic Crystals be a game that appeals to me? It seems to be very well loved around here. Please enable/disable. ;)

Frarkin frogohs frapulisim, IlleBellus.

Secret of the Magic Crystals is the Goodjer GOTY. If you don't own it, it's probably at the top of your wishlist, 'round these parts. The middle game is a bit violent and the graphic sex cards aren't to everyone's taste, but it scratches a "collect stuff and level up your avatar" itch that no other title -- I'm looking at YOU, Diablo 3! -- can match.

There's talk of a real-money/pay-to-play sequel, but I think that people who are objecting are just showing themselves to be constantly seeking something to criticize. Hell, back in the glory days of the 1990s, we would have given anything for a game with as much depth and graphical fidelity as SotMC -- and that's saying something, coming from someone who was there, owned all of the classics, and counts 1998 as among the best years of his gaming life.

So, uh, yes.

If you didn't get the Steam sale on Walking Dead, it's now $15 @ Amazon.

THANK YOU!!! I had a $5 credit on Amazon so ended up paying $9.99. Definitely a big score for the day

EDIT: Just checking achievements on Secret of the Magic Crystal and see that only 0.5% have achieved "End Game" which states "By the power of the Magic Crystals I was able to bring this Story to a Happy Ending".

Voted for Far Cry 2. One of my favorite games of the past 10 years

Awh! finished 280 posts reading.

Decided to let the mobile phone relax a bit, came back from work, and had all those replies!

And Archangel, seem you took the bullet for me!

This is a tad off topic, but since I'm in the giving mood (and because I don't currently have access to a windows machine) I have a RaiderZ beta key (whatever that is) and an Offensive Combat beta key.

Raptr rewards that I will never use...

PM me and I'll send it (them) to you.

I also have three Offensive Combat keys for any interested non-coffee grinders. PM.

I think you might go for the Penthouse Letters hidden portion of the game.

I've always avoided Far Cry 2, heard it had horrible respawn rates/points.

You're missing out: http://drgamelove.blogspot.com/2009/...

That's avoidable and easy to overlook. It's one of the few games where I think it's valid to have a full "right way to play the game" conversation though. It's immersive if you treat it that way. It's poorly populated if you run from mission to mission.

It's a definite hit or miss sort of game. If you can deal with it's faults there is a beautiful game underneath. If you can't it will drive you nuts real fast. Sadly I'm in the latter category.

I am kicking myself so hard for not getting that one instead.

Will this require a mod like Hot Coffee or is it in the game somewhere? What about a Steam achievement?

So, uh, yes.

That would have probably been the summer of '92 for me, between Link to the Past and my dad's not-so-hidden copy of Leisure Suit Larry. But yes, this sounds right up my alley.

Thanks!

Big thanks go to Kannon for Shoot Many Robots.
Second place goes to Merphle, who should find another deserving Goodjer since Kannon beat him to the punch

Man, I hope there are a few more good impulse items between now and the end of the sale.

Why's that you ask?

I've decided that whatever money is left in my Steam wallet by the end of the sale will be used to stockpile SotMC for yearly random gifting throughout the community. The more I buy now the less likely you are to be haunted by flying ponies throughout the year.

Spoiler:

So far I've managed to gift 5 copies, who's next?

Took me a half hour to catch up... But I'm glad I did. Now I can gladly join in the Far Cry 2 conversation... Mainly because I bought it on Xbox 360 and then last year I bought the collectors editor the UK and the rest of the world got. You know, the awesome wooden box. ^.^

Far Cry 2 is one of my go to games even now. Gotta say, Far Cry 3 has a lot to live up to.

Anyone want to enable me on Metro 2033? I'm handicapped and can't decide for myself.

It's like a cross between the STALKER series (post-Soviet, post-apocalypse) and Half-Life 2 (linear, so as to better tell a story). Or at least that's what I was told, which convinced me to buy it a long time ago.

I've still never played past the tutorial.

Metro 2033 is an amazing game, and you should definitely play it before Metro: Last Light comes out. Actually here's a nice gameplay trailer from E3 2012 that shows off all the great parts of 2033 and some new things coming to Last Light.

At the price it'll be at, might as well give Far Cry 2 a shot. Here's to hoping it gets the win.

And as if everyone doesn't already own Torchlight & Oblivion.

Binary Domain is over.

New flash sale is Take on Helicopters.

Uh... anybody?

Grubber. Explain yourself. Only one of 300 friends that own it.

BlackSabre wrote:

+1

And I've got Diablo III sitting here barely played, so I don't need any Torchlight.

Somebody enable me on Black Ops. I'd probably only play the single player campaign, but the whole Cold War/Vietnam motif looks interesting. Is single player worth $20?

Purchased. Wow your good.

Thanks so much to Forceful cheese for Dungeon defenders, one of those games I could never quite get myself to buy. Saves me having to hem and haw over it again.

FarCry 2 is the best savanna burning simulators ever. You will never be as happy burning things in a game, I promise. Aside from the ridiculous enemy respawns (that apparently are all expert marksmen), I consider it one of my favorite games of all time.

Lucky Wilbury, Merphle and Manach are all gentlemen and scholars for they have lavished me with not one but THREE copies of Shoot Many Robots. You guys are great!

Now if you excuse me, I have a Game Cannon to load and aim into the crowd.

It was alright - depending on the difficulty you could blow through it in 6-8 hours though. I'd personally wait until it hits $10 or less, but who knows - COD games tend to not drop that low, even years later. Not sure how well the multiplayer will hold up with MW3 and BO2 later this year, but I loved the maps!

Hah. I almost passed along a copy your way too. Only a few people had it on their wishlists. Guess I'll have to pass the gifting along with a different game.

I think it was a bad idea for me to be on vacation this week. I am now watching videos of this helicopter sim and it looks like a possible buy....
