Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

I'm just going to assume Squee would have given me some sort of once-in-a-lifetime item, and rage silently at Gabe for not running his sale/creating a difficult gifting mechanism.

What does Syrio Forel say to the Steam sale?

Hey, Analogue: A Hate Story is pretty interesting!

OFFICIAL: NO STEAM SALE THIS SUMMER

God damn it. I was going to buy my brother some birthday presents. :(

Keep the tradition alive.

That or "two weeks".

Guess they got tired of you all saying how crummy the sale was last time. Nice job jerks.

Like the story says: It's my nature. (NSFW language)

Secret shame here- a voice in my head was singing this song just this week. I don't know I would say that I like that song still, but at one time I sure the heck did.

I didn't mean to imply that it's not. I wouldn't mind checking it out myself. It's just not the monster sale everyone was expecting.

I walk around in the summertime asking "how about that sale?"

So, is there really not a sale this year?

There really isn't a summer sale on right now.

Maybe... Next week?

July 12th is the rumored date now, sourced from a few developer posts on the Steam forums, or it could be next week. Or never.

Here's a question: Why the big deal about spending a load on deals in a short space of time instead of the same deals spread out over a longer period of time?

I think a lot of people like the Meta game that is usually involved.

Also for me it means sales on games that don't usually go on sale like Wargame European Escalation, World in Conflict, and Sins.

It is basically a years worth of Weekend and Midweek deals in the span of two weeks

I think it used to be a much bigger deal but the weekend and daily sales have been a lot more interesting in recent times.

Right, so it's "the event" people are interested in. I remember commenting on a previous sale that Valve were essentially organising playtime with their objectives, perhaps they need to work on that side of the service outside of the store, or a "PC gamer playtime" group to be organised with events.

Yeah, same logic behind social "events" like St. Patrick's Day. Who cares if you can get drunk on the other 364 days of the year?

EDIT: Also, it's just fun to see what stuff goes on sale each day, along with the achievement hunting.

First of all, there HAS to be a Steam Summer Sale, so that I can play Skyrim. Tell them to get their asses in gear. Pronto. Or as we say here in Greece, Amesos!

Second, why the hell isn't there some feature of TELLING me if one of my wish list items is on sale? especially 75% sale? Huh, huh?

This message brought to you by dissatisfaction and a bit of miffed-ness. Yes it can be a word if I want while i'm all miffed, etc.

There is. During the winter sale they had a display telling you how many items on your wishlist were discounted.

Unless you're looking for email notifications, which I agree would be a handy opt-in feature.

Can't you just click on your wishlist? It then shows you right there. Check it once a day and you're golden.

Don't oversimplify things!

Obviously people from GWJ would prefer that Steam host forum threads where they could make one word posts that read: "Tagging". Then they could click some link buried in their user control panel to conveniently see which games they had tagged were altered in price.

No one likes to do their heroin in small bits. We want big honking shots of the stuff.

Maaan, people still tag threads? Favorites is the way to go.

Druids are among us today!

Neat.

It seems odd to have a third-party site doing something you'd like Steam to do itself. It claims to be safe to enter your Steam info, but it's still a little scary.

Yeah, i've been meaning to ask if the one for your TF2 stuff is safe, cause it wants me to sign in "through Steam"...but am I?

Otherwise, Hyetal won the previous page, just so we're clear.
