Hey guys, long time lurker here. I heard mention of GWJ LoL nights on the podcast and decided to come check it out. Looking forward to playing with you guys tonight!

This was on the podcast?
Now I must listen to hear what I assume to be rabbit singing me sweet praises.

More generally singing sweet praises of the GWJ forum community and the wide assortment of game nights that are organized here. League is my game of choice, so that's what caught my ear.

I assume the protocol is meet up in vent and organize things from there?

Well, that's how I'll hear it in my head anyway.

Yep, come into GWJ vent and meet up in the League channel. You can also pop into the GWJ chat room in the LoL client and speak up. Another good idea is to just add as many GWJers to your friends list as possible.

Fedora: The video came out screwy... The first ten minutes are of the last ten minutes of the game, after which the actual beginning of the game kicks in. Nice play at temporal distortion.

We're all about random time portals!

Game 2 is uploaded and live, Game 1 is being uploaded, and Game 3 is being rendered. Game 3 where I spectated with cathadin is going to take a while since the game went close to 55 minutes. Both game 1 and 2 have been added to the play list and game 1 will be watchable in about 4 hours from this post. Thanks to all the people who spectated with me, I will give links or inline include the videos when all three are live.

So I've been playing Akali and I like her but I fall behind mid game due to items. Thanks to a helpful comment I have become really effective 2v1 hanging by the turret. I level up faster but am usually 0/0/0 in the 1st 15 minutes only attempting to last hit creeps and harass the 2 guys. The issue is with just leveling I can almost burst kill someone but they can get away with that one bar of health. I start buying items so late that I always seem to be right behind the ability to really kill someone. Toward the end my assists will shoot up but still, she is supposed to be a killer mid game also.

Any ideas?

Are you playing 1v2 top lane? Akali is not really a good choice for that. She needs farm, which is hard to do as a melee champ against 2 other champs. The general 1v2 advice is to not die, hold on to your tower as long as you can, and just soak up XP until you're 2-3 levels higher than the enemy champs in your lane and then you can flex your muscle a bit.

Also, once she hits 6 she becomes a very good ganker, and you should look for opportunities to run down to mid lane. Of course if you're playing 1v2 you pretty much have to stay in lane the entire time. So I think your issues are more of a matchup than anything. Try getting a 1v1 solo lane with her, that's really what she needs.

ROFL
well that's what I get for lazily rendering the clips in movie maker.
Ah well, I'm way too lazy to fix it.

Also, I agree with squee, that is a crazy udyr build! Dyni recommended shoes instead of vamp scept which is what I usually did before that nerf to it. So I felt like I was missing some life steal, grabbed that and then didnt want to do lantern. Looked at my team comp with olaf and sivir and how olaf was tankier than me, so I decided it would be interesting to do a herald. It gives attack speed and life steal auras allowing both me and team mates to stay in fights longer and do more damage. Afterwards I built a negaton cloak since i soaked a ton of magic on last death. Also the reason we loss top 2 towers was because olaf was red hungry XD. He came down bot to get red and stayed around a bit. Also I noticed that my creep score was really far behind nathanial, in post game I looked and I had more neutral minions than him so I guess he got that far ahead due to going top lane a few times. If the game had continued I would of build bloodrazor so that I did more damage while I had people stunned and build negaton up to a force of nature to make me more tanky, faster for the bear punches to the face, and get back into fights easier with the health regen. Oh and the reason I did not attack move into bush for gankplank is because I have NO IDEA how to do that. Seriously I think its pressing A and left click? Or was that when you have the character selected pressing A auto attacks? Usually I just right click everywhere.

From tonight, commentary with Squee9 and myself. Should be uploaded in a few hours.
It turns out I forgot that I had music going in the background, sorry about that.

Start the video at 10:20 then watch the beginning after that, the video is out of order.

There's two ways to do it. A + left click will attack move to a location if you click on the ground, but is the same as right clicking if you click on an enemy unit. What I find to be easier is Shift + right click. You can see the color of the arrows change to remind you that it's an attack move, and it's useful in so many situations. Here's a guide that discusses some of the benefits of using attack move: http://www.rakalakalili.com/attackmo...

SWEET, so i can keep right clicking every where and just hit shift some times. Does this attack move only attack champions or if I attack move towards a champion by minions i might punch some minions? Also if you do attack move with a ranged character do they move to the spot and attack or stop and attack the first enemy unit in that direction? I probably could go to that link and find out there, but I don't wanna.

Attack move is a regular move command with the extra condition that you will stop and attack any valid target that comes into range during the trip from A to B. So you will stop to attack minions in the jungle and creeps in lane. It's more useful on a ranged character to keep you at you maximum range. Once you pick up an oracles elixir it also makes clearing wards from brush a simple task.

I want to point out that you won't attack the neutral jungle minions unless they've already aggroed on you. So you can attack move through the jungle towards a wave of creeps and start hitting them as soon as you are in range. If you have an item like Sunfire Cape you'll pull the jungle as you pass so you have to keep an eye.

I find attack move is useful after you've leveled up a bit and are no longer timing your last hits. I use it for clearing waves with Teemo when he has built up his AS, or with Trist when after two shots the whole wave starts exploding in chain reaction. Just set your attack move up lane towards river and you'll automatically move up to clear the next wave and you can pay more attention to to the macro game.

So I get home after being gone for 6 hours, and the 3rd video is STILL uploading! Game 1 was 2 Gigs, 2 was 1.5, but 3 ended up being 3.5 Gigs after compressed T_T.

Here is Game 1 and Game 2 embedded.

LOL!!!

Go to 6:37 in that first game for greatest teleport of all time. Good work, Nimcosi

Wow, that's hilarious. Wtf? Reminds me of some really derp moments I've had myself lately like accidentally dropping a sight ward right in front of a friendly turret.. or just missing warding the bottom bush on the blue side and warding the space between the bushes instead.... Or CVing the enemy red camp after just being asked to cv blue... Good Times.

Yeah, that was amusing. He was chatting away, working on strategy when he "accidentally" hit teleport. I thought he was going to another lane for some reason. Nope, he just wanted to get closer to the tower.

Yeah, that was a wtf moment for me. Glad it made you smile.

You were just freaking out the enemy team making the entire map go defensive for the random nimcosi teleport of DOOOM!

I had hella fun last night. Now to learn how to be competent with someone other than mundo so I can't be counter picked.

Ok, it finally finished this morning. The game from last might should finish this afternoon. I will link to it when it goes live.

am i the only one for whom youtube download speeds are absolutely atrocious lately?

They have been bad for me, but I just assumed that was because I have been uploading tons in the past week or two.

Also, video from last night:

Well, I'm shelving Akali till at least 20 per goodger advice. Trying Xin now

I suspect you'll like Xin better for now. He's got some issues but better sustain in-lane so long as he's not being constantly 2v1'ed at the turret.

Please do not take this as complaining because I'm really enjoying these commentaries you guys are doing, but I'd like to offer a few suggestions.

1) Map awareness is just as important in observation as it is in playing. You need to constantly be glancing at that minimap. For example, in Game 3 from 3/30, there were several times the camera was focused on an idle lane while a gank was occurring, and there were a few early game blue steals that weren't caught. Obviously, you're not going to be able to catch every single important gank or event that happens, but it is something to keep in mind.

2) Try to work in more discussion about item choices throughout all stages of the game. For instance, in the last game Fedora posted (and yes, I'm about to toot my own horn here a little bit ;)), Complex did not come mid in the early game. I beat Crinkle's Kassadin in lane because he went for a Doran's ring to start while I had boots + 3 pots. I harassed him out of lane and built a very early advantage because he couldn't dodge my pillars and had no sustain to recover from our trades. I had an extra 450 hp to work with. If Crinkle would have also started boots + pots, that matchup probably would have been much closer early on.

Just a few things I noticed, keep up the good work!

I wasn't trying to say you didn't win the lane on your own merit, I was just pointing out how Udyr put way more pressure on the map and the lane then Shyv could. I think I mentioned a few times how your aggressive play in lane kept Kass down.

The map awareness thing is actually the reason why my camera control is so jumpy, I'm always looking at the minimap and looking when the slightest thing seems to be happening, if I'm not focused on something else. That sort of comes from how I play as well, always trying to focus on the minimap when I don't have anything else to focus on at the moment and glancing around a lot. I'm also kinda hyper. I think I catch most things but it's also kind of headache inducing.

I know, I wasn't trying to get defensive about it That item comment stems from several of the commentated games. I just used that example because it was the last game I watched. Another example of note from that game was Nathaniel's choice of a vamp scepter to start. It had a large impact on the flow of the game in many respects, all of which you pointed out very early on.
