Warframe

I can see that but it would feel like a nice active clan activity so i am willing to give it a shot.

One thing I wondered is how varied the gameplay is likely to be - whether every capital ship engagement has to be handled the same way (shoot the fighters, repel borders, sabotage the enemy ship, hit it with the big gun). Potentially it's a massive amount of development effort for not much additional content once the novelty has worn off.

There's also the immediacy issue. At the moment if I want Argon Crystals I head to the void, it's a click on the starchart to reach a void relay. How often will I choose to hop in my railjack and fly to one instead?

It did look very slick though.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I'm not sure if I just don't have my settings right or something, but any missions involving archwing are not something I look forward to.

My Archwing is still the starter one and it's Rank 13. I own precisely 3 Archwing mods, and one of those is a duplicate.

Yeah I managed to 30 the starter while trying to fill out the star map. But I haven't been able to craft another. Parts in clan dojo are way too expensive. And the extra archwing weapons, I don't even understand where the parts come from. Not worth figuring out honestly

I have a couple of super dumb questions, so please bear with me, my friends. I've never played Warframe before, but I am considering downloading it for the PS4 now that I am subscribed to PS Plus. I'm assuming the game starts with some kind of tutorial for new players. Is this right? Also, if I want to play multiplayer, do I need to complete the tutorial and perhaps other missions before I'm allowed to? (I've never played any online shooters before, so please excuse my complete ignorance.) Is there anything else that needs to be completed before being able to play with others? Be a certain level? Finally, I know the game is free to play, but do you get all the expansions that have been coming out over the years, or just a basic, free version of what the game currently looks like? Thanks in advance!

I'll try to answer as best I can, but others will be far more knowledgeable. As far as I know, you only have to go through the Vor's Prize quest before you can join with others. The tutorial is somewhat lacking, although there's a lot of info online at both the wiki and my personal YouTube preference,

. Technically, you can be brought along (taxied) by a higher level player to anywhere, but you can get killed very easily on the high levels. 99% of the game is free, you'll have to pay for weapon and warframe slots, plus cosmetics if you want them. However, you can also grind stuff and sell it for Plat, the in game currency. Otherwise you have the same stuff as everyone else game wise. It's a really generous FTP system.

Final note, be sure to go over your settings. I know I had to crank down the sensitivity by quite a bit. Also, feel free to ask questions here, reddit, the warframe discord, and in in-game chat. Folks are usually very helpful and friendly!

Thank you for all your answers and advice, fogrob. And for linking that video --it was very helpful! I'm definitely going to download the game and check it out!

Yeah I’m in the same boat. 500+ hours in the game and not one max arch wing weapon, frame etc as I don’t like the missions anywhere near as I do the actual warframes.

I tend to use the Archwings a lot on the Fortuna and the Plains, but it doesn't seem like they get much affinity there.

Dang the railjack thing looks huge. Makes me wonder if it would be worth dropping the rinky-dink clan that's basically just me and Crouton to hop on with GWJ's. I assume the GWJ dojo has the four research stations?

Best case scenario we get a Sea of Thieves like experience in space plus the Middle Earth nemesis system.

Worst case scenario, at least we get a sunroof and blinking archwings out of it.

I wonder how much of that was hand-wavey demo magic. They made it look like there was effectively no loading between the warframe ship, archwinging outside the ship, and whatever other tileset you were interacting with.

Really interested in that new, speedy frame that just ran across the water. Gotta go faster.

This game.
Pros - the numbers go up
- destination map is pretty
- can wiggle spaceship

Cons - the movement physics fudge it so much for the benefit of players/npcs that it's a bit silly.
- enemy AI when they are not in combat seems really dumb. Staring at walls, not noticing I just shot dead the thing next to them, etc. I know it wouldn't be good for "fun" factor if they were more competent, but I don't know.
- Can't say it's the most interesting game I've played. I have no idea why ME3 multiplayer felt more fun to me, but it did.

I guess this sounds a bit harsh, I don't think it's a bad game, and am glad the people who are into it like it. Can probably be a fun container for friends.

Question: is there cross play between console and PC?

Also, yes, I turned the aim and mouse movement sensitivity down by like 70% within 30sec of starting the game.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer had a good sense of escalation in a single mission that fit well with the more tactical, cover-based shooty shooty.

Although I generally think interesting npc idle behavior is cool for most games, I think it would be wasted effort in Warframe, where eventually the game becomes so fast that most enemies only exist on screen for a fraction of a second.

That said, I would be more interested in a shift towards more meaningful stealth missions, and that would benefit from more cognizant grineer. But then you'd have to somehow dial back the frames that can go invisible at will, or the whole thing would be pointless.

Anyone see the part of the event where they showed off the modular archwings? (They made a joke that was the first time archwings ever got an applause at a TennoCon) Looks like we're going to get the Zaw equivalent to how they get modified.

But that would probably mean I'd have to level each one twice (to gild, and then again).

I liked the look of the modular parts. I didn't really hear anything about how the experience of using Archwing would be improved in Empyrean, which is going to be really important if we have to use them for more than open world travel.

Edit: actually they did say they'd add Itzel's blink to all Archwings, but that's all I think .

The archwings are pretty fun when you're traversing the open terrain of Earth or Venus. It's just that the standalone archwing missions aren't that. Either they're in really open space so it is very difficult to determine what your velocity is, or they're down corridor tilesets where you stub every toe thirty times. There's a happy medium to be had, but they have to throw away that wrecked corpus tileset.

Mabye modular archwings come with a complete mechanical overhaul?

I didn't expect this to just work without some sort of explicit link between my steam account and warframe account (which I don't think I currently have). Perhaps the matching email was enough.

Sorry i thought you had done that already. This didn't work unless you tied your warframe/twitch accounts together.

If you log into warframe you have an email for that account. that's what you use

No worries, Nekros Prime was in my inventory when I logged in I just didn't expect it to be. I do have a twitch account linked to my Warframe account, but don't recall every linking anything up with Steam.

Rhino Prime out of the vault this week? I might actually have to farm relics for once.

Boltor prime too, looking forward to that.

Getting back into the game after just logging in for daily reward. So much has changed!

Also, big thanks to Tycho for providing some awesome mods!

Nightwave is good at pushing you out of your comfort zone. Tonight I did both my first sortie and first Nightmare mission. Both went fine. Even the level 80-100 sortie where I ended up doing 46% of total damage to the boss.

Nice. I've been afraid to try that stuff.

I really need to delve into derelicts one night and find a group to open vaults with. Since I need that derelict boss to open the last gate to Sedna anyway...

I am generally enjoying this game, despite my gripes with it. I think I would have bounced off it not really knowing what to do after the first couple of hours, if I didn't have a spirit guide explaining everything to me (thanks Redwing)

I think some of the enemy design is really great, some a bit boring. Also some of the level design is pretty good too. I think that the feedback on scanning could be better as to when it's a kind of thing you've scanned before or not. I'd prefer to get no points for a kind of thing I've already scanned.

Is there a way to turn it off asking for your password on every login? Seems excessive, or am I wrong?

Looks like this is the next game I'm dumping a bunch of time into. GWJ clan invite pls?

I'd like for them to go back and rethink a bunch of the enemy design, although none more so than the Ancients. I actually like the set of abilities they have, the Healers in particular can turn an infested swarm into a game of Where's Wally where you need to whack Wally before you can even scratch the crowd around him. It means you can't just run into a group of enemies and spin-to-win (at least not right away, eventually you can just brute force your way through even 90% damage reduction with massive numbers, but it takes a while).

However! The tether they all have is too much, being pulled around by an entire group of the tentacly bastards is one of the reasons all the Syndicate Death Squads are a joke except for the one sent by New Loka, a squad of Ancient Eximi which absolutely live up to the name. I'd love for them to remove that ability and use it to create a entirely separate Tether Ancient or something, with that power alone, so at least it'd be less likely to be stun-locked into eternity by a group of them.

Just built Wukong prime and got a riven for the Pyrana. Guess I know what i am going to be working on for the next week or so. This is the first riven I gotfor a weapon I actually like.

Jumped in to a random pickup rescue mission and I failed it for everyone because I couldn't find the exit to one of the rooms on the way to extraction and the hostage died. Maybe it wasn't 100% my fault but I feel super embarassed. Oops

Finally finished Mirage quest last night so that's cooking for the weekend

My biggest oops moment so far was probably waiting for my squadmate to finish capturing a Sanctuary target, not noticing that my Helios Prime was slowly but persistently killing it off. He was not happy

I'll probably be knocking out the last leg out of that after work tonight.

I think I'm up to 3 rivens now - including the first one the game introduces you to. I haven't been able to unlock any of them.

Just your Twitch and Warframe accounts had to be linked. Platform-based accounts i.e., PC/Steam, PSN, Xbox, etc. didn't have anything to do with it.
