Warframe

I really wish they'd enable some sort of cross-platform account sync, if not true cross-play. I started the game years ago on PC, but barely touched it in the early years and then got hooked about a year and a half ago on PS4. I've picked up all of the Twitch Prime rewards there, including Trinity Prime and Frost Prime, but all the GWJ activity on the PC side makes me want to transfer...

This is biggest reason I don't play on switch. If they had this I'd love and be fine with playing on multiple platforms.

Yeah since I just started last year Switch has been great. Although it's a bit lonely, only 3 of us regularly playing

The other issue - if you can call it that - is all the new content releases about a month earlier on PC. I'm not a very patient man...

For the most part patient men are a thing of the past.

I don't think I've gotten to Sanctuary Onslaught. That's a great point about Excavation. I'm generally playing in random groups so I haven't always seen people split up, but it generally is harder to stay together and in range.

I'd also love cross platform options so I could play on Switch sometimes.

Ember crafting finally. I haven't had a frame to level in weeks.

After 60+ hours i think I have the hang of this game. Got 3 frames in the works as we speak, managed to finally get split chamber and hell's chamber, and am headed to Uranus.

I have not had a game get its hooks in me this deep in a loooong time.

I’ve noticed that I’m only one piece away from Nova Prime, and Frost Prime... I just might try to get those last pieces tonight

Note: read the research recipe before making the materials. 10 Muragen Samples down to Mutagen Mass....and the research requires samples sigh

i'm currently running lots of spy missions for Ivara parts (gods this is a grind) so i have extra elemental damage/ status chance mods and streamlines (better energy efficiency). if anyone needs one, let me know what you need and i'll give it to you before i start selling them for platinum.

I totally agree.

PC Gamer had a statement regarding the cross-play. I now understand why they are hesistant to go into that direction. Sharing progress sounds like an option they might consider though. But it's not on the 2019 roadmap so it's not likely to happen soon.

I think only prime parts are tradeable, not regular parts

I had the 100 hours played achievement pop up one or two weeks ago. Steam says I have close to 200 hours now but I guess steam also counts time spend in the launcher and I often have that sitting around for hours updating.

This is my third or fourth time trying to get into Warframe and I wonder why this time it managed to finally click. I guess it's mostly the fact that this time I'm playing with a friend and we are both sharing our pieces of the epic puzzle that this game is.

It's weird how much the game depends on outside information from youtubers and the wiki. I finished the star chart and never noticed that there was now a new "planet" with kuva fortress until my friend told me about it.

Altogether this leaves me with the feeling that I still haven't interacted with 40-60% of the game.

There's a great documentary on Digital Extremes on Youtube that also touches the decision of just letting the comunity explain the game to new players at some point:

Definitely worth watching!

Mods, not the ivara parts

I’m still having a blast!

Finally have Garuda cooking.
Completed the sets for Frost and Ember Prime (parts cooking).
Working my way up the Nightwave standing - I’m ranked way higher than I ever thought I’d get.
Eidolons are still beyond my ability (never mind that any time they get “posted” in Recruitment, the elitism is prevalent).
Picked up BPs for the weapons that match the few rivens I have.
Built a kitgun - a catchmoon, because I had a riven for it (+crit chance, +dmg to infested), and forma’d it twice. Still need to get the Cetus standing back up to build a Zaw for one.
Re-rolled the riven for the Paris Prime (ooof that thing is ugly) - old stats were AWFUL (-recoil, -projectile speed), new stats are... fine (+dmg, -dmg (small amt) to infested).
Got my Umbral Excalibur, finally. I actually had to look up how to get that story started. I never go into my “bedroom”.
Working my way up the Fortuna rep, to get the Hildryn BP (already have the parts).
Still running around with Gara, most of the time. Re-used Limbo, for the first time in a while (Kuva survival) - 4 (for massive bubble ~60s), and 2 (freeze everything in bubble ~30s).
Using Saryn to level up weapons, especially melee... weak melee on Gara is bad, mmmkay.

MR has plateaued at 13 (probably pretty close to 14, by now) - mostly due to having most of the start-chart cleared, settling into preferred weapons, and not gaining new frames at my old rate.

Glad to hear that Equinox Prime will have the same parts-list that the other frames do... ie: you won’t need 9 pieces to make it.

For basic frames, I still have to get the parts for Octavia, Nidus, Harrow, Chroma (Saryn Systems, lol). Still need to do a few quests - Jordas (Mesa?), Silver Grove (Titania), and one I’m forgetting... Inaros? (not sure if I have that quest yet)

I’m no expert, but if anyone needs help with stuff, hit me up when I’m online, and I can probably lend a hand. (I should really be on Discord more...)

This is the first game where I am 100% sure Twitch is the reason I made it past the initial hurdles. It is just obtuse and without some streamers answering questions I would have never groked it.

They have said that for this year they are reworking early game to help with this. Which certainly can get a lot better. However, honestly with so many systems I am not sure anything they can reasonably do will stop the need for some outside resources.

To some extent the opaqueness is part of the appeal.

Although when I jumped on it was way less complicated so maybe I got inoculated. Maybe not because then a lot of stuff changed without me around so when I came back not only was it really complicated, I remember things that aren't true any more! Couldn't bust heads like ya can now, but the trick was to tell em stories that didn't go anywhere. Back then we spun to bullet jump, spun with melee weapons. In those days melees had bumblebees on em. Gimme five bees for a smack, you'd say.

I jumped in relatively late (last July), and while I rely on the Wiki for some things (finding the bits for Octavia, for instance), I never bothered checking Twitch or YouTube for guides or information. I don't even try to osmose information through multiplayer since I only play solo except for very rare exceptions.

I just poke at the game until it makes sense. Fussing with systems and mechanics is basically one of my main draws to a game though, which is the reason Warframe ate my free time I guess. It is like eating an elephant though, you need to do it a bite at a time.

Yeah, I lived on the wiki and I did check a couple of mastery test videos on Youtube, never found anything else worthwhile. The main thing with Warframe is you (usually) don't need to worry about something until you find out about it in game. Or you find yourself suddenly struggling to progress and need to look up why.

I made three attempts to get into the game:

On the release day of the PS4 this and Warthunder and Resogun were the first games I installed and while I found the setting and the idea of a coop shooter/hack'n'slay did appeal to me that version of the game was far to repetitive and plain to hook me for more than two evenings.

I took another look on PC when I got the stuff from the amazon prime/twitch promotion, but really found the game boring after a week or two. The first planets really don't pose much of a challenge and playing with others is just confusing as you are still playing the game like any other run and gun game while they are just bullet jumping through the level as fast as possible.

Third time was after I finished the Destiny campaign with two friends and we wanted more of the same without spending any money on the Destiny expansions. Playing together carried us over the unfun part although one of my friends quit as soon as the game stopped hardrailing us through the first steps and started to make us look things up in the wiki or on youtube.

If I had to guess I'd say the game started to carry its own after maybe 20-30 hours in. Once I got the hang of one frame and its abilities (Frost), the damage system (what do I have to do to get good enough for the next thing I want to do?) and had a weapon I really enjoyed (Lesion with its stance mod).

Also the Second Dream and War Within quests were really well done although they do lack some of the polish a game like Destiny delivers.

Apparently I still haven't done all the quests I'm supposed to do but I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do next and currently the daily/weekly challenges are enough to keep me occupied. Especially since it introduced me to a lot of new stuff like fishing.

I think there are a few bumps in how they trigger quests for new players that they need to iron out especially towards the end of the star map and maybe there should be something like the Second Dream right from the beginning to hook you early on and maybe also hook you up with some weapons and mods step by step.

Really curious how they will approach improving the early game. Might make me start over on Switch or PS4 to check it out!

The quest was “Hidden Messages” - for Mirage... another frame where I ended up getting the Prime before (I still don’t have) the basic...

Garuda is finished and 30’d, she’s alright: her 1 doesn’t seem very strong, UNTIL your target is at <40% health (changed with Strength), then they get DELETED. Her 2 takes your target out of the fight and gives you/allies health over time while in range of it (does some DOT to the target). Her 3 - trade a chunk of your HP for a huge gain in energy. Her 4 (can be held to increase the AoE) launches blades at all the targets in range with a high chance for slash-proc. Her abilities (1,2,4) get used a lot, less so the 3 (got myself killed a couple times) but still useful. She’s got a ton of armour, which amplified the benefit of any heal over time abilities.

Fought the Wolf (3rd time), yesterday - first piece of the Sledge! I thought they said they made him LESS tankier- I swear he took the longest time to kill, this time. He downed me a few times before we beat him.

Still turning in gems (very worth it) for Fortuna standing, getting closer to Old Mate (buying the different debts from Ticker) - which I (apparently) need to get any further with Little Duck (stupid gravimag pieces).

Loving my Catchmoon (CatchAFallingStar) - riven (never kuva’d) is +crit chance, and hits like a truck - I love seeing hits for 10k+

The game really could use some better prompts - some of the storyline quests show up in the navigation tab, but not all of them (that reminds me that I should check the Codex - I think I should be able to see if there are any un-started, or “scrambled” entries). I don’t think I’ve closed the wiki.... ever. That, and YouTube guides are invaluable.

The Dex weapons alerts are worth remembering if you don't have the Dex weapons already. The Dex Dakra (twin swords) aren't the greatest, but they come with with a free weapon slot and potato, so you have nothing to lose. The Dex Furis - twin pistols are solid, the only reason not to use them is there are so many really good secondary weapons.

The Dex Sibaris is a very good weapon. If you have consistent steady aim, this rifle will serve as an end-game weapon. Rigged with pen and crit, you will be constantly popping off headshot crits. The only drawback is the low magazine size. 14 rounds on a 2 round burst fire rifle eats ammo, so you do need to take care and aim. On the other hand, the bursts are tight, firing through a closed door at head height, watching crits and exp numbers boiling up, that never gets old.

Are those Dex weapons live on Switch? I remember stumbling on them on the wiki a couple months ago and thinking I needed to play during anniversary time to get them. The extra slots alone are worth it if I decide I don't like the weapon later.

They used to be anniversary gifts, that you gained on login. Now they are rewards for completing an item specific alert. On PC, they all show up on the alert list, so if they aren't live yet on Switch, I would expect them to show up soon.

Somehow I stopped caring about MR after 10 (currently closing in on the end of 11).

Is there something worthwhile locked behind higher ranks?

I still only use Frost almost exclusively - are there any "must have" meta frames that I should collect for end game things that I probably still don't know about (haven't done sorties or eidolons yet)?

My weaponry is pretty much the Amprex for grinding through regular levels like Gabii, the Vectis Prime for open world stuff and the Lesion for melee. I use the secondary slot exclusively for leveling.

Any recommendations?

Anubis, Loki, Hildryn, Nezha for the sorties. Anubis has a mod for this 4 that armors against status effects. This makes you borderline unkillable. Nezha for high level support, he has a mod that lets you cast your 3 on other players / pets, giving everyone 90% damage reduction, and his 1 is a status removing carpet. Loki spies good. Hildryn in a Limbo bubble is a crazy unfair combo, her 1 shoots out of the void bubble.

Zephyr for Plains and Orb Vallis.

Nova's another high level support, in that her four makes all the enemies easier to kill.

MR tops out unlocking weapons around 12 I think? After that its just extra roster slots, void traces, possible daily rep with factions, and a higher base starting mod capacity for low level frames and weapons.

Its hard to do better for sniping than the Vectis, but I actually prefer the Rubico for the larger magazine. The Amprex is really fun but kinda falls off damage wise at the higher levels. Must have guns would include the Arca Plasmor, Soma, Tiberon, Braton. The Tigris should be in the category but I hate its firing mechanics. Lenz is another great weapon for outdoors. And I can never beat the Lesion with Condition Overload for melee.

  • Octavia for perfect stealth and perma buffs (do things in time with the music in the AoE of her 3, her 1 is a crazy taunt with infinite scaling)
  • Gara for the insane damage potential (Her 2 scaling off of the 4 - 200k AoE damage with long duration in just a few castings of her 4, infinite scaling potential. Does Object damage)
  • Limbo for easy Spy Missions (Rift it up, watch out for Nullifiers)
  • Mesa for the stupid amounts of damage she pumps out with her 4. Seriously it's stupid amounts.
  • Nidus for infinite missions (all of his abilites combined are really good)
  • Saryn for dat Toxic Map Clear (Melee Zaw with large range and toxic will spread throughout the map)

Those are my thoughts for frames. I'm currently working on leveling Octavia and Nidus, still farming Limbo Prime (I'm still not through the Star Chart ugh). I need to get Saryn and Gara and get working on them.

I also can't find Niatin Extract anymore which is a bummer. I need to look into where to get it now.
