It’s rather good. The Little Drummer Girl is even better.

Florence Pugh is phenomenal.

I would cross mountains and ford rivers to watch Pugh act and Park Chan-wook direct, but would I subscribe to Sundance Now?

I didn’t realise it was Park Chan-wook. I’ll have to keep an eye out for what he’s doing in the future.

BTW, have you seen Lady Macbeth?

I didn’t know it was possible for someone to radiate pure evil and despair by just standing still, but somehow Florence Pugh did it. And she was 21 years old.

The Night Manager was on AMC a number of years ago, so its not a brand new thing. I just remember them promoting the heck out of it at the time.

No I haven't I'll search it out. Thanks.

So THATS what they've been talking about for the last half a page

It was exceptionally mediocre. It was a fine movie (mini-series? I forget) but totally predictable and forgettable.

Good to know. It was a mini-series, I believe. I love both main actors, and the setting looked great. But if its mediocre, predictable, and forgettable...yeah, there is too much other good stuff out there.

Thought The Night Manager was pretty good. It was on BBC I think so watched it when on "normal" telly but you normally cannot go wrong with a Le Carre.

I liked the Night Manager as well when it first aired.

I've been watching old Columbo on Prime lately. It doesn't show the Prime icon and shows commercials as it's part of their imdb tv or something. Nice to time travel a bit.

I'm always glad that I'm apparently easily entertained. I loved it, and so did Mrsfyrnos.

BTW, it's not Shakespearean. It's based on the Russian novella “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk.” It's also full of paced, deliberate scenes, so don't watch it if you're in a mood for exploding helicopters.

So it’s no Midsommar. Good warning. I would have gone in expecting Shakespeare. I’m fine with glacially slow pacing if it has tension and feels like it’s going somewhere interesting.

The Night Manager (which is considerably better than ‘mediocre’) was done by the BBC so it is very British. Worth tracking down though. I never saw the little drummer girl, one I’ll have to track down on the iPlayer.

Amazon app updated overnight, at least on my Roku TV.

Finally a skip intro button, so that's good.

But they rearranged the season/episode views. Was very confusing when I clicked on my next episode of the Wire and got a totally different screen.

Upload is absolutely amazing! Wife and I can't stop watching! Nails the dramedy vibe perfectly.

As a long time Bugler, I've been a fan of Alice Fraser for a while. Her special Savage is on Amazon Prime, and the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I read that as 'long time Burglar' for a moment. It occurred to me that times must be rough for you at the moment if that was the case.

Looks like HBO pulled all their shows.

I was in the middle of rewatching the Wire and my wife was starting Veep. Today there's no prime logo on either show and it wants me to subscribe to HBO or buy episodes.

Did the new HBO Max service launch or something?

I googled and could find no articles on these shows leaving. Would have been nice to know in advance. I left the finale of s4 to watch today at lunch but could have finished it last night at least. Ugh.

I think HBO Max launches on the 27th, so maybe that's why? I guess they need a week to grab all those stacks of shows and move them to their new shelves .

This was similarly us. We quickly completed the first season and now eagerly await a season two.

Good characters. Good drama. Good comedy. It was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon.

Is her special best enjoyed with half a glass of water?

I'm reliably informed that EVERYTHING is best enjoyed with half a glass of water.

Though honestly, my biggest takeaway is that Ms Fraser buys glassware that's twice as large as necessary.

Watched 4 eps of Homecoming season 2. I was able to guess a couple things but it is really well done so far and we are enjoying it at my house.

Little Fires Everywhere is pretty good. Not exactly sure how Resse Witherspoon has such a good eye for projects that stretch her but her and Kerry Washington really anchor this show. Also a first where the teenager cast all feel extremely real. Myself and the wife flew through it in three days.

At least in the US, I think this is on Hulu. Glad to hear it is awesome. it is on my to-watch list.

Yes, I should say this was on Prime UK with marketing as a Prime Original . I guess I should follow the inevitable “Hidden Gems of Hulu” thread even though we don’t get that here.

Oh I wasn't trying to be pedantic. Sorry about that.

I didn’t think you were being pedantic, just helpful to people in different distribution areas. I wasn’t being sarcastic, finding stuff that both my wife and I enjoy is a challenge (our baby is a contact napper so we need lots of things), so I am always looking for more recommendations. The Hulu thread is here by the way.

The film 21 Bridges has been on Prime for a while now and I watched it last week - more or less out of lockdown boredom - and got a well made, old fashioned cop thriller that was really enjoyable. Chadwick Boseman oozes charmisa, and the rest of cast played their roles really well. it’s a tad predictable for sure but it’s to the films credit that that really doesn’t matter - it’s getting to the end point that’s important. I’d thoroughly recommend if you find yourself with a couple of hours to fill.

Thanks. I’ve been eyeing that one up.
