Hidden Gems of Amazon Prime instant videos

Yeah, The Boys was fantastic. I finished the first season in two days and now I can't wait for Season 2.

Really enjoyed The Boys. Had some real solid story telling and I dug the entire cast.

I think the last 20 minutes of The Boys makes my list for some of the best TV ever made.

There is some incredibly skillful acting and line delivery on that show.

Been watching Grimm and noticed flickering on black colors. This happen on my old tv and now on my new tv. So far Grimm is the only show this happens on for me. The Boys, Orphan Black and Downton Abbey were fine. Anyway to fix this or is this just the video is?

Antony Starr - the actor playing Homelander - also starred in one of my personal favorite shows of the last 10 years: Banshee. For those unfamiliar, it was a show that ran for four seasons on Skinemax and centers around an ex-con that "assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff in the small town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he has some unfinished business". As the un-legit sheriff, he does a pretty good job of taking care of some local crime problems while simultaneously pulling off capers of his own and dodging a crime syndicate from his past.

Word of warning, it's very similar to The Boys in terms of language, graphic violence, and sexuality. It had a pretty great cast too and introduced me to Hoon Lee, whom I now love and have recently discovered also stars in Amazon Prime's Bosch.

Yeah, Banshee has some premiere violence to offer. The actors and stunt team really took it to the nth degree and it can be wonderful, if hard, to watch.

This. Anthony Starr made my spine shrivel the entire last scene.
Also,

Spoiler:

Was I the only one upset about Stillwell's kid?
We've seen what Homelander is, and therefore what to expect and what not to expect from of him.
But Butcher went from text-book anti-hero to full blown sociopath

Spoiler:

I felt Butcher was written as a sociopath from the first episode. They contrast him and Homelander a lot throughout the show. (ex. Butcher at the bar with Starlight and Homelander at the Jesus festival with the Vaught group / festival-goers.)

By the end, Homelander comes off as slightly more sympathetic because he is simply who he is. Butcher pretends to be something he's not.

Thats Antony Starr?! We didn't even recognize him.

As an aside, Hoon Lee was recently in another Skinemax show about Chinese immigrants in San Francisco shortly after the Civil War.

Finished The Boys this morning. Woah, that was a helluva ride. I can't wait for s2!

The Boys speculation

Spoiler:

I get the feeling they're setting up several of the 'heroes' in The Boys for a redemption arc in S2 that might free them of Vaught. Maev and The Deep at least, probably Starlight, maybe A-Train. Who knows about Black Noir, he's a prop, not a character.

I would kind of prefer that to what happens in the comic, tbh. They've already improved on a lot from the source material.

Finally caught up on The Boys and it's as good as everyone is saying. Homelander is one of the best villains I've ever seen on screen. The actor playing him is fantastic - I hate him so much!

Yeah, Homelander is great. He does sleaze so well, presenting his two faces very convincingly

Yeap, Antony nails it. Really different from his Banshee days.
I didn't love The Boys, but it was fun. Eh, maybe fun isn't the right word due to the amount of assholes and sh*tty situations presented in the show. Engaging. I guess that's better.

See I'm glad that they have deviated from the source material. I haven't read it but know enough about the comic's story that I would like to see Butcher somewhat redeemed.

Regardless, I like it when an adaption throws in some surprises for those who have read the source material.

Spoiler:

I thought Black Noir was going to turn out to be the main character’s Dad (Simon Pegg) but it wasn’t to be he has a lot of potential to be a surprise reveal or for one the Boys to impersonate him. Also there’s Doppelgänger (?) in the mix so anyone who died maybe isn’t dead.

Looking forward to season two.

Simon Pegg's appearance was a surprise. I saw him, and thought, "That looks an awful lot like Simon Pegg". His accent was odd but not offputting; it didn't come off as fake.

A few scenes in and Im thinking 'it really looks like Simon Pegg, who is this?!'

And here I am reading this saying "Wait, what, Simon Pegg was in The Boys?"

If you have kids, there's a ton of episodes of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood on there now. I don't know if that's a recent addition, or not, I just noticed them. I know the last time I searched Mr. Rogers, it just came up with Daniel Tiger.

It's been on there for at least two years. I much prefer it to Daniel Tiger. While the songs are useful, DT doesn't really treat kids like people the same way Mr. Rogers did.

Weird, I must have been looking just before it got added, and just never thought to look again. We've watched a bunch of Daniel Tiger, and yeah, it's not the same. The fact that Mister Rogers only just bubbled up into a recommendation is more evidence that algorithms don't know jack.

No, it's real. It's for his role in the upcoming thriller Inheritance. https://metro.co.uk/2019/07/17/simon...
