So wait...is Bosch actually good? I'm not completely opposed to formula police/detective drama, I just watched the first ten minutes of the first episode and was immediately turned off that they establish the character as a totally good cop being unfairly maligned by the evil internal affairs and grated my teeth, with the acknowledgement that I would give it another chance some day when I was in a better mood.

It is outstanding. One of my favorite shows. Consistently quality.

Bosch is great. Its a fairly realistic (ish) detective show so some cliches come with the territory but there are tons of great characters and solid storylines. It stays with the times too, as race related police shootings rise and things like body cams become part of life, they get integrated with the story.

Yeah, I understand that initial impression of Bosch because I rolled my eyes at some stuff in the first episode too, but I really really really enjoy that show.

Yes, it's a cop show. It is one of those. But I think the writers at least try to do and say more with it than a lot of those shows ever bother with.

Totally agree on points in regards to Bosch. I think we were iffy after one episode, but it's easily among my favorite police procedurals. I feel like had shows like Detroit 187 and the American version of Prime Suspect had been in streaming services, they would have had multiple seasons, too.

I had just come to accept that the better procedurals probably won't make it to a second season, but there is usually a new one coming out anyway. It's been nice that Bosch has been able to have this run.

The Bosch books are pretty good as well.

I think that's a big reason why the show is so good. Connelly has built up a stable of characters and fleshed out Bosch's fictional world for years, and he is, from what I have read, closely involved in the Amazon series. Connelly worked for years as a crime reporter for the LA Times, which gives his work a kind of authenticity a lot of mystery thrillers lack. He's also just a fine writer and storyteller.

The Tick was canceled. I really liked season two.

Did it end gracefully, or was there a cliffhanger?

As an aside, I really wish shows would move away from the season end cliffhanger. It's not only tired, but you never know if your show will be cancelled!

Depends on how you feel about their superman type character. He has the last scene but is only a minor character. I think if they did have a season 3 it would focus on him. The main season story was completed.

Damn!

I wanted to see where Dot would go.
I’m sad.

I'll give a plug for a older show that ended well, Defiance. There was also a game based on it. Its a sci fi show that takes place after the Earth was nearly destroyed. Humans and aliens live together in a frontier like setting. Not a must watch, its basically candy. I had fun watching it. I think if you like something like V, original or remake, you might dig it.

I watched the first season and enjoyed it. It's a neat universe. I didn't particularly like the end of the 1st season though so I haven't gotten into season 2. I may give it a try with your recommendation that it does end well.

It didn't get better sadly and added more p2w options

First season was great and first half of 2 was ok then it goes downhill super fast. 3 is trash.

Yeah. Saw the new posts in this thread and thought maybe folks are talking about The Tick...boy I sure love that show and can't wait for the next season. *sigh*

Frell my evenings for the foreseeable future, I'm hooked on Farscape again.

I've been watching Deadwood as the movie is coming out soon. Also really enjoyed the first episode of Orphan Black, do y'all recommend it?

Absolutely, if for no other reason than seeing one actress playing different characters so well.

Gets a bit deep in its mythology by the end like these shows do, but I enjoyed it to its end. And it wrapped up reasonably well.

I'm on season 4 of Orphan Black. I fell off of it the first time around because it got confusing and kind of crazy. The second time around also got confusing but I just rewatched the episodes to find my place. The plot is getting crazier and crazier. It doesn't seem like the current story was planned out from the start. Clones show up with no connection to the story. I know it is fun seeing the star play multiple people but they could do better with introducing some of them.

Very much so.

I fell off of the show a couple of times, but that had much more to do with me watching as new seasons became available on streaming and it just slipping through the cracks or getting lost between other shows. It's probably even better as bingeable show.

Orphan Black is excellent and contains some if the best work out of any actor on TV (IMO) from Tatiana Maslany.

I started a rewatch a few weeks ago and it's still just awesome.

I don't know much about English Football history, and I'm a Liverpool supporter, but I greatly enjoyed The Damn United. It shows a bit of Brian Clough's history as a manager of Derby County, and then Leeds, but mostly it is about what a strange character he is and his relationship with his assistant manager and players. Michael Sheen is brilliant.

Destination Wedding was very good and not at all the romantic comedy the marketing made it out to be. It had a very Jim Jarmusch vibe to it.

Good omens was a fun watch.

I really like the film, also the book it's based on is really good as well, however from a historical pov it makes some rather giant leaps lets say, as a Leeds fan.

Started watching Impastor. It has potential. The main guy was annoyingly familiar until I realised he was Lex Luthor in Smallville. I hope the show is a success for him and I’ll watch a few more episodes.

Started watching Good Omens and really digging it so far. Only through episode 1 but I really like the narration and the acting is superb. The sets and cinematography are spot on as well. I think this is going to be a good one.

Dammit sneaky Pete just got canned too. So tired of getting to a 2nd or third season then everything getting the axe.
