Did they really need a five minute long conversation with Ben Franklin about the virtues of banging older women?

I daresay that the distribution center in the midwest should probably have had the game in stock prior to today, especially considering that I preordered on March 6th. But maybe it was Sandy. Either way, this was the only game I preordered this season and it sucks I don't get to play tonight:(

I do feel bad for you. I have my copy sitting unplayed right now. My daughter has a flute audition tonight, and I'm not sure when we will get to it.

I got mine today from Amazon. I think I usually get stuff from the Kentucky distribution center but I didn't order it so I don't have the tracking info.

I got mine, and I am on the East Coast. It's dumb if Sandy really affected yours and not mine.

Less talk of delivery logistics and more gameplay thoughts so I can live vicariously through you all.

I just the tail end of a Giant Bomb quick look livestream. The combat looked atrocious, a bunch of guys with long muskets trying to take turns poking at the character. The animation lacked the theatrical flow of the prior games due to the change in weaponry.

And then the AI/scripting broke, and he lost the mission.

From what I've played, while it may not look as smooth as the previous games, it honestly feels smoother than I remember it being. The mission I'm currently on looks like it's going to be a lot of combat (lots of dudes at once) so my feelings may change.

Really the only control thing that's bothered me is that whistle and loot are on the same button. During the stealth mission that I was just doing, I would kill a guy and loot him but it would have me whistle immediately after I started looting calling another guard over to me. On nice change (this might have been in Revelations, I didn't play it), free running toward the edge of a building doesn't immediately cause you to jump off the building. You need to push a button to jump so you don't go flying off the building if you're misaligned with the rope you're trying to cross.

The combat can be smooth. Once let into the world a bit, you can change your equipped weapons. Nice to be back to the hidden blade.

I'm kinda torn on just nabbing this game up and waiting for it to come in the mail a couple days from now. The story sounds interesting from what I've heard from Arthur Gies and Ryan Davis, but that clunky mess of things people keep talking about...conflicted!

I guess of note: I skipped Revelations after everyone said it wasn't worth it as more than just a supplemental story. But this seems like a much more in depth and interesting thread in this universe. Just can't decide if I should pick it up now or down the road. And talk of having the game spoiled makes me wonder if there is something very interesting that should be experienced before it is out in the world more and people can spoil it easily...

If you can't tell, I'm having a hard time deciding :p

Dammit, come on, release for PC already. I want my AC3.

I borrowed the first two assassins creed games from my friend and am renting the 3rd one.
Maybe after I will play Brotherhood and Revelations just so my experience with Assassins creed doesn't come to an end any time soon.

I put around six hours in so far today and I still haven't gotten to play as the main guy yet. It doesn't really feel like an Assassin's Creed game yet. I feel like I'm still playing a tutorial. It really needs to start picking up soon. I just had a cutscene followed by me climbing up the ledge directly in front of me and then another cutscene. It was really goddamn stupid.

I don't think the tutorial is that long, but knowing that the mechanical portion of the early game won't matter later makes it feel like that. There are five or six regular AC missions before the switch.

The intro is bloated (took me about 3.5 hrs) but it does carry some interesting narrative nuances.

Giant Bomb Quick Look is up.

Holy crap, 6 hours and not even to the assassin part yet? Hello gaming experience

This is why hyperbole should be avoided.

You're assassinating plenty of people from the word go. Don't get the wrong idea.

I'm still using the intro gent, and I've stabbed a lot of dudes, and I mean a lot.

Totes. I'm gonna back out of the thread if this keeps up. I mean seriously, now I know there's a cutscene right after another cutscene. I may as well just not play now.

That woulda been a spoiler to me if I hadn't played it, but it may have been part of the prerelease blast.

Just met Ziio and it's definitely starting to pick up a bit.

Great banter, if nothing else. Also, lots o stabbin!

Ok, about 3.5 hours in, and have learned some interesting stuff. Also, now controlling Conner.

Overall, I've enjoyed it thus far. It's been different, and not in a bad way. I've enjoyed the environments and the world, colonial America is something else. Also, running in deep snow isn't easy

Yeah, they do a good job conveying that life in such a newly civilized place is inconvenient and occasionally harsh. I like the new tone a lot. Expecting things to really take off. I enjoy hunting quite a bit also.

Just had my first human combat with Conner - craziness. Combat gets brutal.

Overall, this game feels like Assassin's Creed and Red Dead Redemption had a love child.

And that's just kind of awesome.

I find it weird that I am not Conner... but I really like this other dude. He is supremely amusing. An English smarmy gent.

I do not like chasing almanac pages though. That is irritating as they always go right up to guards on roofs and then I lose the page and have to run a lot from angry guards.

I do like that the soldiers back off though when some are prepping their rifles. Such an obvious thing to do but I totally expected the guards to shoot each other in chaotic combat.

And I'm out.... glad the game is good, but I'd rather discover the stuff you guys are talking about for myself.

See you all once I have it

That does sound pretty damn good.

It sounds like the multiplayer is more of the same and the co-op stuff is timed so I don't feel a pressing need to dive in from the start. I'll pick this up next year probably.

Amazon hasn't even shipped mine yet, but I went with standard shipping so I wasn't really in a huge rush anyway.
