Cyberpunk Catch-All

That font comes right off the cover of the source materials for the game.

Looked like:

I rarely ever comment on people's customized titles, but I've got to say, I just noticed yours (Spawn Point) and it is absolute gold. First funny custom title that made me genuinely laugh in a long time.

I would so play that.

I thought that was refraction from the lenses.

Replaced? Oh. Oh. No, I think his prescription is just that heavy.

That was my first thought, but unless his 'script also filters hair, it's a 'shop job. There's also a weird artifact around the frame at his right temple. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

See what happens when you announce something 2 years before we'll see it? This is what we become!

The weird artifacts are there deliberately to make you stare at the face longer, so you can take in every glorious detail. It's a sort of subliminal behavior modification. Very cyberpunk.

lol thats like the 3rd time that's been posted

Did you bother to click the link? It's an interview by RPS that was just posted this morning.

You're probably thinking of the other interview. Where he dodged all the questions and made me wonder why he agreed to do it in the first place.

It all sounds like the same interview. Just different cuts from it. There's nothing new here

Is that any thing related to this new game?

It just dawned on me that we heard nothing about this during E3.

That's not surprising. They're targeting 2015/2016 for release. That's still a ways off for anything E3 related (unless you're desperate like EA).

And they already had to spend their advertising budget on The Witcher 3.

Someone from CDP mentioned that Cyberpunk is still at early stages and there is simply nothing to show yet in terms of real gameplay.

I'm waiting for it and the witcher 3 also :).

Some Cyberpunk news.

In which we learn two things
1) it's bigger than Witcher 3 (holy crap)
2) and we won't hear much else till 2017

A bigger world isn't necessarily a plus for me, but I said the same thing about Witcher 3. CDPR has earned my trust and then some.

Definitely. Bigger doesn't mean better but Witcher 3 felt like a cohesive world. It'll be very interesting to see what CDProjeckt can do outside of the Witcher universe.

2017 eh? Good. I should have a new Macbook by then that will be able to run the damn thing

Has a serious Bubblegum Crisis/Ghost in the Shell vibe for me.. not a bad thing.

Well. All I can say that Witcher 3 is a huge success and CDPR should be swimming in cash.

HOWEVER - loads of cash doesn't guarantee that a good game gets made. Blizzard, with their nearly unlimited budget, canceled project TITAN because apparently it wasn't any fun if you remember.

The really challenging thing with CyberPunk will be the story. With the Witcher Universe CDPR has been able to lean on the excellent novels by Sapkowski... but with CyberPunk I think they're going to have to create the whole universe themselves.

I think this is going to be the really big change and challenge for CDPR in how they operate, to get the story right. We know they can make a great game, we know they understand setting and pacing. But can they create characters equal to Geralt, Yennefer, Triss and Ciri all by themselves? Hmm... I hope so. I certainly hope so.

so.

Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the Pen & Paper RPG game Cyberpunk 2022, so its not like they have to invent the world by themselves.

Cyberpunk 2020, as the name implies, takes place in the year 2020. The game's default setting is the fictional Night City, an arcology on the west coast of the United States located between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is described as being near San Jose but the map puts it closer to Monterey. Later supplements to the game have contained information about the rest of the US and the world.

Following a vast socio-economical collapse and a period of martial law, the United States government has had to rely on several megacorporations to survive. This has given them a veritable carte blanche to operate as they will.

Cyberpunk 2020 was actually the second edition of the game. The first was set in 2013. I still get the occasional disconnect when I look at my copy and realize it is actually set in the past.

(I have the same reaction to Twilight 2000, fwiw.)

Hah, that is pretty funny!

Bah! I just want a sliver of gameplay!

Oh well, interesting teaser nonetheless.

Man, it's literally the same.

They don't have to create a new world, but they certainly have to create everything else. The characters, the story, the plot, all has to be created from scratch or close to it. With Witcher they had most a lot of that, which is I think what was meant.

Actually.

Not to be a contrarian, but how did they not have to create the storylines themselves in Witcher 3? Did the Bloody Baron's storyline come from the Witcher books? As for characters, there are well-known characters in Cyberpunk as well, as well as stories (Quests) and villains.
