Cyberpunk Catch-All

Some details from RPS:

It’s a AAA RPG of Cyberpunk, the pen and paper RPG. It is being made by Witcher and Witcher 2 veterans. They’re saying stuff like “Advanced RPG mechanics” and “mature content”. Customisable characters, different classes. Lots of weapons. Non-linear. “Cutting edge looking game”. And also “not a game for everybody, for mature audiences.”

If this is truly a cyberpunk themed RPG, they can take all of my monies right now! I want that so bad I can taste it.

RPG... with guns... from CD Projeckt... yes please.

I'll be in my bunk.

Extremely looking forward to tomorrow's press conference (and once again crossing fingers for LucasArts on GOG).

So... female alien collectible sex cards?

I'm glad to see that some success with the Witcher series didn't translate to Witcher 3: The Witchining

I'm sure it will eventually. Maybe CD Projekt is following Bethesda's path of revolving IP's.

They're currently hiring to staff up two teams. One is working on what is almost certainly Witcher 3, and one is working on a science fiction RPG.

Whatever the case, that image tickles my nerd parts in all the right ways. Also, hey, teal and orange comes to cyberpunk!

I'm so excited I just sent Grubber788 some money. This is how we do it now, right? Shadowrun!!!

Aw man. You didn't send me enough. The project will now be delayed two years and the final product will be a four hour game consisting entirely of quick time events and competitive online multiplayer.

We're also demanding a constant dial-up internet connection to prevent internet piracy.

You only have yourself to blame.

If it isn't Neuromancer 2 I'm not interesting.

Spoiler:

Just kidding I'm interested but really where is the Neuromancer 2 kickstarter?

This.

My only concern is that if CD Projekt is really branching out to two teams that they are ready financially and managerially to handle the expansion. I don't want another great studio to explode due to overreaching.

Psyched. Will probably pre-order as soon as it's available!

CD Projekt? Cyberpunk?

Day one perch.

Something I'm wondering about is the base for the fiction. TW was based upon Sapkowski's books, so hopefully they've got some good writers of their own for their own home grown fiction, if it is all their own stuff.

There's actually a thread in P&C discussing why there wont be a Neuromancer 2.

CD Projek may become the must buy rpg company that Bioware used to be.

CD Projekt?

That's all I need to know. I'm in.

They're working with Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk universe.

Really weird that we're seeing a rebirth of Cyberpunk stuff this year with FFG launching their Android universe and the Shadowrun kickstarter project.

It's actually THE "Cyberpunk" game.

As in "based on the officially licenced Cyberpunk P&P game".

*Bah, beaten by mere seconds !*

That is so awesome.

Live conference is going right now: http://www.gog.com/news/see_our_summ...
Stream seems to be a bit jittery though.

My money. All. TAKE IT!!!

Ugh, yawn... another colorfully mohawked cyberpunk hero with various augmented powers no doubt...

I think I'm burned out on this genre already. Let's hope CD Projeckt can give it some unique spin.

It's not based on a specific character. Character creation based rpg.

I have never played a cyberpunk game, so the genre does nothing for me.

That said, I was so pleased with the Witcher 2, that CD Projekt gets my money day one.

I'm sure it will be great. I think I'm just reacting to the utterly stereotypical concept art. With all their great artists, I'm a bit surprised that's the best they could conjure to get us excited about this.

I'm pretty sure if you asked pimply 14 year-old me to draw a cyberpunk character in 1987, that's about what I would have come up with (minus the art skills, but definitely including the leather jacket, mohawk, ripped abs, big gun, and "mirrorshades").

"Check out my totally badass cyberpunk dude!," I probably would have said, all hopped up on Neuromancer, Blade Runner, and Max Headroom.

It's based on Cyberpunk 2020/2013 which is AWESOME!!!! I am so pumped for this next year.
