Diablo III Catch-All 2.0

I watched a video that explained how to do the 50M gold achievement easy. Get 55 torment 16 act bounties rewards and open them all at once.

After seeing that I decided to do the GR45 with no set items. I wasn’t about to do so many bounties in a row.

I did the avarice with my WW barb and the money gem max leveled. Did it on cow level. I quit at 100mm gold streak.

Wow! I didn't realized how easy it is to gear up a LoN Gem character either hardcore or normal.
My HC season monk is being very conservative sitting at GR 25 (T6) when she ould be pushing passed GR 30 (T7). The damage is there but the toughness is too spiky for my taste at 32 million. I have no idea what my damage is aside from the 82% bonus from the gem and 507 million on the stat sheet. My crit %/dam is 33/300 so there is plenty of room to grow there.

The GR 45, HC, no set conquest is well within reach. Perhaps its even a day or 2 of moderate play away. There are many items that will push me much closer like the helm that applies exploding palm to seven sided strikes, the fist weapon that increases sweeping wind stacks and damage, or leveling the esoteric alteration gem.

My wiz was converted to lon gem build and successfully cleared gr45 with minimal loot needing to drop. My hc monk cleared gr43 with significant risk but is so much fun to play.

Lastly my wwbarb cleared gr75 with no struggle until the boss. She died 5 times but still cleared with 4-5 minutes to spare.

So I am 3 of 6 goals short of the pet. I have 2 of 3 conquests done. But the gem leveling is gonna take a bit. And I only have about 16 of the 40 legendaries extracted.

Remember you can do the "play somebody else's character" challenge once a week, and it awards a bunch of the chapter bounty mats that you need to extract legendary powers. That'll help get you the extractions with fewer bounties.

(I forget what it's called, the one that you select in the game settings screen, where you toggle between story mode and adventure mode.)

Hey just wondering if there are any other folks playing on the Switch? I love playing on PC but my lifestyle right now doesn't fit sitting at my PC much but does let me use my Switch a bit.
My friend code is SW-2388-5213-3906.

Finally completed the season and got my new storage bag. Yay! Now I just have to do the challenges and get a few gems to 70. Shouldn't be too hard...

Completed Guardian for this season. Top 500 on Demon Hunter HC leaderboard. GR 93 is starting to feel very risky, so I think I'll stop for now before I overreach and get this character killed.

That said, if someone wants some HC powerleveling, send me a msg. Happy to help - I love HC!

Any "big rules" advice for HC play?

Don't die?

HC is a lot more incremental than even SC D3. Meaning at high levels you test how much some of the big hit damage effects you. (arcane beams, mortar, standing in acid or burning pools) Then when you gain 10% toughness and/or damage, you bump the difficulty up no more than 1-2 GR's. By contrast, I would regularly bump up 5 GR's after each decent upgrade.

The other thing is you take practically every get out of death card available to you class. Every class has at least on passive that grants cheat death every 60-90 seconds. Plus there is equipment or runes that grant ~80% damage reduction when below 25% health for example. As you start to climb the GR's, you need at least 2 of them.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, you put points into vitality immediately when you gain paragon levels. And I make it a habit not to fight act bosses unless I am 2 torment levels below what I can handle other elites at.

It is a lot of fun though! The non set wearing monk is a complete blast. I am fighting my conservative play style because it is so much fun and yet I don't want to lose that character all that much more.

Curious - how does it play on the Switch? Been thinking about picking it up every now and again (also, thinking about Torchlight II) for play while traveling.

It plays nicely. It is day and date with the PC for seasons and patches. The big changes are there is a roll on the right stick and inventory is a list sorted by item types. I like the inventory. I don't use the roll. No clans so it is hard to find people to play with. Split screen coop is neat but tricky when one player moves really fast. The loot goblin amiibo can be kinda cheaty as it spawns a greed portal but looses value as you play more.
Seasonal play requires an internet connection to start but after starting works fine without it. No cross play... Or even account linking. I'm kinda bummed I can't share progress with my PC account.

The one down side for the console versions is that split screen inventory is kind of a bummer. But PC doesn't have any shared screen, so not a big negative.
My wife has been surprisingly engrossed with the switch version lately. She loves her necromancer.

Conquests are done. My HC monk completed gr45
That build is so much fun.

Just need to level 3 gems to 70.

I tried a LoD necro build and that made no sense to me.
I bombed hard with it.

Singularity Mages?

Sounds like I need to take my GrimDark butt into HC play this week.

The cheat death passives can be exhilarating!
You will make mistakes. You will bite off more than you can chew.
When you trigger the cheat death, many times you only have a few seconds to remove yourself from the spiky damage situation that caused the trigger. So those few seconds are incredibly tense and if an act boss is what triggered the cheat death, the tension doesn't go away because its still very much alive and chasing you. So it can be difficult avoiding a Boss that can teleport onto you when you get too far away. 60-90 seconds of that will get your heart racing for sure

Oh, did I mention that you need to equip a travel skill? Because you NEED to equip a travel skill.

What, like teleport?

teleport
dashing strike
furious charge or leap for barbarians
tumble (or whatever the DH one is name)
ghost step (or whatever the WS is named)
stampede (?) for crusaders
and blood rush (?) for necros

Those are your get out of jail free cards and any good build will have them in it. Some good builds require them, like Leapquake Barbs.

Another sort of must have are the ice climber boots (worn or cubed) because being immune to freeze is extremely beneficial for HC.

I don't use any immunity items, but I agree movement skills are key.

Another useful thing to do is, as soon as you can safely do so, craft a Hellfire Ring, Hellfire Amulet, and level up a Gem of Ease to 25. Then, if you die, can get back to 70 relatively quickly. I also tend to save up extra set pieces and key legendaries of my build of choice for the same reason.

The best thing I can tell you is, when you trigger your *oops, I died* passive - TELEPORT OUT IMMEDIATELY. Do not pass go, etc. I have lost way more characters than I care to admit because I tried to keep playing while my HC skill was on cooldown.

Other than that, when you find yourself starting to die semi-regularly, it's time to level down, or respec, or switch builds, or adjust paragon points, or whatever you need to do to stay out of the danger zone. Slow and steady and all that. Just requires a little more patience.

EDIT: Forgot a couple of things -

Not necessarily. It depends on the build. My current DH has no paragon points in Vit. The plan is to kill stuff before it gets too close.

Also, the bosses that drop Hellfire mats are deceptively nasty. I've lost several chars to them as well. I generally won't take them on until I have a full set and key supporting legendaries for my build.

I was able to complete the Conquest Avarice (50M gold collection streak) with a pet and the Templar in a T13 Not The Cow Level, with my spinbarb. It was easy. I swapped out my Thorns gem for a level 50 gold gem. Crafted 3 Sovereign Infernal Polearms, the first one in the cube gave up a Bovine Bardiche. (The other two did not.) Fired that up in the cube, hopped in, and made sure to never go more than about 2 seconds without killing something, until I had the 50M in my pockets. Only took a few minutes.

Now all I need to do is get 3 gems to 70. How do you tell which gems *go* to 70, instead of stopping at 50 like the gold one?

There is a x/y box on the ones with a limit. All others have no limit.

Just as an FYI, with the spin barb I was able to trounce my sequential kill streak to over 600. (from ~310)
I have reached as high as ~850 season kill bonus.

I need to get a lot more ancient versions of current equipment to get beyond GR78.
Zipped up a newb season necro to 70 in 2h 16m I am going the LoN gem route with her but really don't know which way I am going. I am definitely taking the stand alone passive and just taking the hit from the golem. With little trouble and an aquilas I was able to get to 48m toughness in less than an hour after hitting 70.

And finally I got Guardian finished! Now for some HC action.

This season I got up to GR96 with my demon hunter. It's a lot of fun. Since then I've been trying to find upgrades to my current equipment to see if I could push further, but I've had no luck. I've done 3 or 4 augments to my ancient items, had one more primal item drop that was useless to my build and spent about all my current resources in cube recipes all for nothing. Think I'm calling it quits until a new season calls to me in the future.
