Diablo III Catch-All 2.0

Uh what else could "multiple unannounced Diablo projects" possibly mean?

It's true they could just can those projects before any release but like fangblackbone I also take that as a statement that more Diablo products are under development.

It would be bad however if it's like Games Workshop and it means multiple P2W mobile titles!

Diablo comes to Hearthstone!
Diablo: the underoos collection!
Diablo: the animated series!
Diablo edition iPhones!
Diablo flamethrowers (the kids love this one)!

Yes. Multiple unannounced titles indicates Diablo 4 (as in a PC A-RPG - not just a title on a box), and Diablo 2 remaster. I am 99% certain they are making D4 (which however is not the same as it will ever be released).
But there are still plenty of alternative, realistic, options for what those other projects could be.

Blizzard announcing a Mobile game at Blizzcon, claiming it is for the core PC audience, surely didn't make any of those alternative options seem less likely.
Then in the aftermath, the new story is that 'oh Diablo 4 is totally coming, we are merely in developer hell, and has restarted the project twice now, what could possibly go wrong'. Which further shows that the project could be plenty of other things than what people mean when they say Diabo 4 (PC A-RPG). Since Blizzard clearly aren't sure exactly what they are making either.
Not that it is a surprise, nor something that means the game wont come some some day - Blizzard reimagining their games mid-development is par for the course. It happened with Diablo 3 (going from MMO-lite to classic A-RPG), it most certainly happened with Overwatch (going from who-knows-what-MMORPGFPSSecondLife to team shooter).

They're subcontracting D4 to Bethesda. Diablo 4 will be a first person shooter!

Well, if it means that Blizzard gets to make TES6, I would be very interested in that experiment. It could be the best things in gaming ever. Or the end of the internet (the best thing in the world ever?).

World first MOBA Royale with loot crates disguised as elite mobs.

Card based, AR, battle royale, e-sport, loot crate, mobile, FPS, rogue-like, featuring blizzbucks, premium sub to remove ads, $10K kickstarter perks, auction housing, time limited transmogs, attunement keys, rep grinds, with purple dildos

edit: Total War: Diablo

sh*t, I'd actually play that.

e-sport

All jokes aside, I bet that is one of the major design goals. Like it was in Diablo 3 where it crashed and burned. It could easily be the thing that (presumably) makes them reset development repeatedly.

As for other games; I dont care about RDR2. But imagine an RDR2 style game in Sanctuary. A dystopian, big open world where humans are losing the fight against demons. Could be a really atmospheric game.

Horadrim army with Tyrael hero unit.
Or armies based on D2 cities/acts: Tristram rogue army, Lut Gholien spear guys army, Act 3 sorc based army, Hell Act 4 demon army, Harogath barbarian army
Heroes for each army could be the Act Bosses: Andariel, Tal Rasha/slug guy, Mephisto, Diablo, Baal

Me too - though the end game would be holding off 10 doom stacks.

Now the real test would be Diablo Universalis 4.

Diablo Kings 2 would probably work better. For the times when you sire the lord of terror as your firstborn.
Actually, that wouldn't be any different at all.

Good, so the resurrected Hellgate: London will have competition.

That might be more inconceivable that Diablo Immortal.

So I played some more D3 on Switch and I'm damned impressed with the port. Compared to the sh*t job THQ did with Titan Quest, an older game nonetheless, D3 runs and looks like a dream. Granted comparing a Blizzard game to a THQ game is setting things up for failure from the start, but the fact that Titan Quest's console ports have all been terrible means I likely won't be buying more of their titles in the future. Diablo, you're all I need.

Oho! See, I really dug Hellgate, for what it was. It had the right idea about lots of things, apart from being buggy and crazy slow even at minimum settings and kind of ugly.

With that said, check out the reboot's sizzling sales copy:

Hellgate: London provides a single play environment with the latest version (Version 2.0) of the Hellgate: Tokyo service.
The game provides single play optimized scenario contents and premium support items.

It might as well say "Supported gameplay services include a variety of demon-oriented slaughter-based activities."

According to the Giant Bomb types the rumor they heard is that initially the plan was a D4 reveal, but that it was pulled at the last minute because the D4 team was not happy with something.

As for D3 mobile, optics of Blizzcon aside, it makes sense in as much as there are lots of people for whom the primary access point to digital gaming is their phone.

D4 has supposedly gone through three different directors so it's entirely possible they've decided to scrap it all again and start over, again, making the reveal not what Blizzard wanted to do. Who knows? Well, Blizzard does, but we'll never know.

Does the switch version require online connectivity and therefore the Nintendo service? Have a long drive Thanksgiving week and was thinking of picking up the switch version for the car ride.

Season characters require internet, but you can play them offline after they're created. You do not need a Nintendo online sub for this.

Nintendo online sub is required for playing mp.

Could have sworn I saw video of someone that could not access their seasonal character at all when the switch was offline. Is that 100% a sure thing?

I think you have to be online to create it, but I’ve definitely played offline with my seasonal character.

Correct, you need to basically start the game connected, but after that you are fine. I've run into this where it says you can't start and I connect it to my phone, it establishes the handshake and I log into town and then disconnect my phone. No problem. I do it on the commuter train I ride in Virginia all the time.

Filthy skimmer here. How does the switch version work in handheld mode? Seems like the screen would be too small, especially the font. Any issues seeing what’s going on?

It's worked just fine in handheld mode. The font is large enough for me to read, and it controls well.

It's a battery drain though (understandably). Getting around 2 hours if I had to guess. Bought myself a battery pack thingy because I have a flight tomorrow.

That is one of my biggest problems with a mobile version of Diablo. It will probably drain my battery in an hour and a half or I will have to have it plugged in all the time which defeats the purpose of Diablo mobile.
This isn't specifically a knock on Diablo Immortal only. But I tend to play in 3 hour sessions minimum.

Like everyone here says, the Switch version burns through battery in 2-3 hours. You can probably save some by turning down screen brightness. Game controls just fine and text is probably 8-12 point font, best guess.

Thought I had heard that any non Nintendo branded batter pack/cords can fry the switch. Anyone have a recommendation on a battery pack that you have first hand experience with/ is known not to cause it to die?

I’ve been using a 24000 Anker battery pack with it since launch and had no issues. It is a 2015 or 2016 model and doesn’t actually charge the Switch while playing intense games, just slows the drain. It’ll charge it on low-fi stuff.

You may be thinking of third party docks, not batteries. Some third party docks were reportedly causing damage to some systems.
