Diablo III Catch-All 2.0

I'm still confused too.

Preach!

D2's Boss tactics/runs can be just as repetitive too. Someone comes up with the ultimate formula and it either becomes trivialized or watching the hp bar crawl down for 5 minutes.

D3 I have played more hours total and more consistently than D2. I frequently came back to D2 and I've played it over more years but there were longer gaps in between binges and the binges were shorter lived. And while D2 had "builds" I always gravitated to the same ones from the same classes (trapassin, frozen orb sorc). So the game without "builds" I have played more classes with and used more "builds" from whatever sets I have been able to collect.

So I just want to again posit that everything some might think d2 did better, I think d3 truly does better and we are letting our burnout color our glasses to the opposite of rose while hard locking that rose tint for d2.

The only holdout features that I miss from d2 is the assassin, druid, necro and amazon classes. And most of those do have effective if not more effective counterparts in d3 but I still miss the theme and look of those classes.

What I don't miss from d2:
2 skills that have 4 optional skills to swap out
limited and non-stackable health/mana potions
1 resource with limited ways of regeneration or replenishment
stat points - limited use
stat point requirements for items
gems of limited use
rune words/horadric cube - kanai's cube streamlined that whole system incredibly and gave more options
paladin - sorry but the crusader and monk are light years better in every way
act 3 jungle
act 2 sand worm lair
waypoints - only having to unlock them once on one character is so much better in d3
boss runs - bounties and rifts are so much better
loot rng - sure you can gripe about it in d3 but the rng in d3 was mostly differently but also quite a bit worse
weapon restrictions - the demon hunter is the most restrictive in d3 but using whatever gives the best increase during leveling is a major plus compared to d2

Jail level is best for GRift progression and Speedfarming torments, but isn't exactly "fun" for, you know, actually playing the game to have fun.

This. Also, I'm nowhere near good at the high-level play but that level is just... Ugh for me.

One of the things I like about the jail level is it also has a lot of and good variety of destructibles: chairs with skeletons on them, barrels, doors and racks.

Give me an outdoor map any day. Lots of elites and shrines and I'm a happy camper.

It's been a long time since I've played Diablo 3 and I started up a new game this weekend. Currently, I'm on console (360) and do not have the expansion. Once I do decide to upgrade, I'll likely get the Ultimate Evil for the XB1. What are some of the new things I would have to look forward to? I vaguely remember something about a new class and a new level limit. Are there any major improvements that have been made from the original game?

from core to reaper? wow not even sure I remember them all, basically the fundamental gameplay is the same (loot grind dungeon crawl) but reaper did make that experience a lot better than just core was.

The new class is the Crusader. If you ever played earlier Diablos then you'll find him or her to be most like the old Paladin. He's my second favourite class as it happens , behind my Demon Hunter.

The reaper expansion added a new area called Westmarch. Also, adventure mode!! In adventure mode you get random bounties scattered across all 5 acts of the game. Kill said bounty, collect reward. So you aren't limited to just repeating the campaign to level up. Rifts were added to, basically randomised dungeons that scale in difficulty and reward. It's the most common way to play once you hit level 70 (the new cap). Those are the basics, I'm sure there were many small adjustments, along with new skills for each class, too.

Now, having said all that, I'm playing on PC, so I'm sorry if any of that didn't make it to console, or if it's already baked into your vanilla version somehow!

Nope, *none* of those things are included in my vanilla version, so everything would be a whole new experience! I'm pretty sure the console version has all the same features as PC minus whatever happens on battle.net for multiplayer, ladders, and whatnot.

The adventure mode and randomized dungeons sound fantastic! I like the campaign, but after my sorcerer got to 60 and I got somewhere in the midst of hell mode, I started getting distracted by other games and that's why I haven't really played again until now.

I think when I do get the Reaper expansion, I'll have to start everything over as I don't think save games transfer from the 360 to the XB1, but since it will feel like a whole new game at that point, it shouldn't matter. Bad thing is that the digital version is still $60 on the Xbox Marketplace, so I'll need to wait for a sale or reluctantly go with the disk version.

I liked the Diablo 2 crusader class so will definitely want to play that one!

Also the big one, level scaling (enemies scale up to match your level in any area/act) and (now 13 torments) levels of difficulty that you can set to your heart's desire. You do not have to complete normal to unlock nightmare to then unlock hell to then unlock torment. If you play adventure mode you can start a level 1 character on torment difficulty. I still think you have to unlock adventure mode by completing the campaign. Which means you have to complete the new act 5 since consoles don't have seasons. (in seasons, everything is unlocked on brand new accounts I am pretty sure)

There is the Kanai cube and its recipes: upgrade a rare to a legendary, extract a legendary power as one of three passives, convert a set piece to another (i.e. helm to leg or arm to boots), reroll the stats on a legendary, convert gems to another type (diamonds to rubies or emeralds to topaz)

The gems have been completely redone and much more powerful ones have be added. And also the diamond gem type was added. (adds resistances, lowers cooldowns and something else)

The level cap is 70 and each class gets a new skill at level 61. You also get a fourth passive slot and new passives earned from 61-70.

Kill streaks and massacre bonuses are a huge boon to bounty (and campaign?) xp.

So, yeah... a lot has changed

Ooh the cube is back and it sounds better than ever! All this stuff sounds great!

Up to level 17 now with my new demon hunter. I like the fast shot skill with two hand crossbows. It's like shooting a machine gun.

I also recently read that we *can* transfer characters from 360 to XB1 so I might not have to start over with everything when I get the expansion after all. Will be great if that's the case!

Well, looks like AMD brought my season to a grinding halt. Updated the drivers on my Radeon 7800, and now Diablo won't run. I get full screens of alternating white, blue, red, green, but no Diablo. Rolling back the driver didn't seem to work. Apparently no pet for me....

How the heck are people doing 'guardian of sanctuary' -finish a level 70 rift on torment 13 in under 5 minutes ?!

Can't seem to do it on my dh, can't seem t o do it on my wd.

I did it solo with my Monk. WD should be able to pull it off too since they're really good at destroying trash. Just go standard fire UE and you should eventually get it. Depends on the map too. Outdoor maps give you the best chance.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a group for the rift speed achievements. I not even close to 5 minutes for T13 and I don't want to have to grind gear for a week to be able to do them.

I got to that last chunk of the season journey and kind of winced reading that one.

I got the 6 minute one easily enough but it was with maybe 20 seconds to spare and I think that was T12.

I'm sure my WD is capable of T13 in 5 minutes but I dont even want to think about how much rift fishing I might have to do to actually pull it off solo.

Gaah. I need to step away from d3 for a while. I just lost a fresh level 70 hard core monk due to forgetting to switch back from torment 13 when entering a rift.
I lost a nearly 69 hard core wizard yesterday due to a fluke fire pit damage after killing the butcher.

Errr, why I screwed over by set dungeon? I did everything I was supposed to. Finished with 1 second left and yet it didn't give it to me...

maybe ALL monster is > 435?

I feel your pain though, some of those dungeons are really annoyingly designed requirements.

Maybe you were supposed to really hit the "target" time?
Sorry for the snark. Just got some bad news and I must be racking up a ton of good karma for that and the 2 level 70 hardcore season characters I lost within 24 hours...

ffs, I'm clearing gr75 or higher and still can't break 6 minutes much less 5 minutes on a torment 13 :/

oop, got it with the help of a goodjer, think it was pants? on their MOTE barb, yay, one more season to go

So I now have the Ultimate Evil edition for the Xbox One and started a new Crusader today! I'm still playing the standard version on my 360 and decided not to transfer the characters over and will just continue playing those characters there.

I've noticed a few interesting changes. Seems that there are a lot more monsters in the beginning areas of Act I and I came across some sort of experience well that gives 25% bonus experience until death. There's graphic updates that weren't on the 360. In one of the crypts there's this cistern area in the middle of a plaza and there was running water moving through. Also, there was no roof on the central structure in the graveyard on the 360. Some new conversation options with the established NPCs with the Crusader is really nice.

Blacksmith area has changed and his box that has the lore book is over on the other side from where it was.

There's a mailbox that is empty and I have no idea what it's for. Same for a Cain's book that says I have no items to ID when I use it. I'm guessing they must have taken away identifying items on the go and require that we go back to town for it. Haven't yet found anything that needs IDing, so it's still a mystery!

Was able to do the first 10,000 gold upgrade for my stash! Figured it was the most important thing for spending gold this early.

Oh and another thing is that some crafting materials are occasionally dropping on monsters. Hadn't seen that happen before.

I'm having fun with the Crusader, especially when I get to use the attack that shoots her forward to the enemy and shield bashes it!

You can still identify whenever. Cain's book just mass-identifies everything in your backpack so you don't have to do it individually.

Thanks! Things must get very interesting in these new modes to have so many uniques at one time.

For lack of a better place to put this, Chris Metzen is retiring. I'm sad to hear he's departing, but on the other hand I'm really hoping that this shakeup will have a positive impact on the company's writing style which hasn't exactly resonated with me in Diablo III or Starcraft II.

His energy will be missed... but his boring writing will not.

Whoa. Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 had a writer?

Alright, that may have been harsh. But really?

I have a question about enchanting. I was reading something earlier about how we should save items that have effects that we might want to keep for later. I've seen some items with some effects, but I can't figure out how to remove the effects and "save" them for enchanting, or break them down, or use them in some way. I also can't find what I seem to have read because everything I look up about enchanting just says to train the Mystic to get more options, or how to work with the enchanting interface and that it can replace an undesired effect with a desired one.

I have these items that are accumulating in my (currently very limited) inventory now, but no idea how I'm supposed to use them to harvest the effects.

Is what I'm asking making sense to anyone or did I dream up this whole thing and am thinking it's real?

You're probably confusing the mystic's enchanting with the Kanai cube's ability to convert certain legendaries into passive abilities
