Torchlight 2 Catch-All

Even with the flurry of releases this year, I still find myself doing nothing but watching gameplay videos about this game, and logging into steam check if my preload is ready and fully downloaded. It feels like Christmas again and now I want to get my sisters and girlfriend into this game too.

Looks like ukickmydog will be our 4th... Gunner and Crinkle, how do we gonna do this? I can be point man and buy the pack, but if one of you wants to do that instead, fine by me.

EDIT: We should all be Steam friends too to make it easier (if we're not already).

That sounds good, thanks. I'll be around on Steam this evening and will send you a message to coordinate.

Alas, I am at an impasse. Just two weeks ago, in a fit of boredom and brotherly love. I bought a copy of D3, as did my brother. We are having great times. I have both the predecessors. I also have Torchlight. I need help understanding what the right thing to do in the following situation might be.

I have a son, he wants to play with us sometimes. The net is about the same for 3 T2's or another copy of D3, so... what do we do?

I like D3, so far. My brother and I co-oped into Act2 of NM, and we have both run at least two solos into their thirties, as well. What would make us abandon this for Torchlight2? My issue with the first, aside from the obvious lack of MP was it felt WAY to much like MOTS. There really wasn't any sort of locale change, you just kept going deeper. I liked that in Diablo (orig recipe), but thought the changing of venues in D2 was an improvement. Then felt like we stepped back with Torchlight, wonderful as it was.

*Sigh* - help, please. I will be fishing around a bit, but I would appreciate any aid.

Well there are a couple of ways to think of this:

D3 co-op is so painless, it is a crime to pass it up.

Likewise, TL2 has LAN and offline play. From what I have played in the beta, it is also very accessible in little chunks of playtime.

D3 is too but in my opinion slightly less so. There are more than a couple of times where you are hunting for that waypoint (act 2 I am looking at you) But both games are leaps and bounds more accessible than their competition.

I was in the same spot as you. My brother and I played into NM Act 3, and towards the end of it we were bored to tears. Might be that's better now, but it was enough to put me off the game for good. After playing about 8 hours co-op in the TL2 beta, I can safely say I'm much more optimistic I'll get my money's worth out of it than D3. And your biggest problem with the first game should be alleviated. I saw some major biome changes in my time with the beta.

Had an issue with Steam only giving me two gift copies of TL2 when I bought the four pack. Super annoying! If this happens to you, restart Steam and the additional copy you bought will magically appear.

Anyway, thanks Crinkle, Gunner, and ukick! Hi5

I'm going to stream some Torchlight II Act 2 footage tonight at around 10PM CST! I'll drop a link when it's live.

Funny, I already got an email notification that it was live.

You know, it just might be. I've got a patch downloading right now. Hmmm.

Nothing stopping him from playing on your pc is there?

Makes the whole co-op bit awkward.

That sucks, wickbroke (obviously).

Hmm, didn't think of the co-op aspect. You know what, email steam support, explain your situation. They may help you out. Worth trying at least.

Absolutely not but he is very much expecting multiplayer with dad.

(I was editing just as you posted Sabre). I opened a ticket with steam support, hopefully skillful use of English may get us what we want. Either cancel the four pack, and we will buy three singles, or release my account from lockout.

Let me know if you don't get a good response from Valve.

Shawn's rubbing our noses in it again, live on Twitch.tv

So, yes, it appears I have four copies of Torchlight 1. Free to good homes! Or even terrible ones. I don't care.

Anyone interested in going in on a 4-pack of TL2?

My fiancée and I want to co-op it up, but it doesn't make much sense for me to buy 2 copies, if I can find 2 more willing people to grab another 4-pack together and save us all a little $$.

PM me and let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

I got burnt guys.

I don't purchase from Steam very often, and apparently it has been more than a year since I bought the Solar 2. Those of you who are more steam savvy may be able to guess what I am about to tell you next, and are possibly groaning already. Due to my lack of activity, my account is in a 30 day cool-down. During this period, I cannot trade. I am quite unhappy that I have three extra copies I bought cannot be gifted for 30 days. Read that again. 30 f*cking days. My son and my bro and whomever else just have to sit and wait. There was no "did you know" popup. I found out after the purchase.

The worst part? I hyped my son up that we would be "ready to go" on Thursday! Guess it's time to harden up and break a 7 year old heart.

Had I to do it over again, we each just would have bought our own copies, and baled on the extra free copy.

Any ideas?

Did trichy's nephew get a copy of that?

He did.

Calm before the storm in here, huh?

I'm moving Friday and won't have time to play for a little while so I'm going to be playing the hell out of this on Day 1.

Is it releasing at midnight?

I don't believe so. Steam is saying 23 hours for me. http://store.steampowered.com/app/20...

Steam store page says 23 hours right now. So looks like the usual 1pm eastern/10am pacific time that Valve uses for sales and stuff.

I guess that means I can get more Borderlands in tonight.

"Steam" and "prompt releases" aren't two things I make an association between.

My son, age 9.67, asked me today's date this morning, then proceeds to remind wife and I, while bouncing around the kitchen like a crazed Skinner rat wearing tinfoil socks, that Torchlight 2 releases tomorrow, and could we maybe play together after school. Y'know, if we felt like it. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeassssssszzzzzzzzzze?
Kids these days.

Borderlands 2 was go at midnight the other night, pretty promptly, without even having to restart Steam and go through shenanigans.
