Torchlight 2 Catch-All

I mean it implies they haven't finished work on finalizing the other acts. Is an unfinished game really what you want?

Why so serious?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's ready to release. I have almost no way of knowing that. I'm saying it's time for them to release it because I WANT IT

This.

Those changes sound pretty sweet. Take your time, Runic. Make it right. Don't listen to these impatient Goodjer folk!

"Fullscreen Windowed mode added" and "Ping meter next to each party portrait so you can identify players with latency issues," good, but I could live without them until the first patch.

Again, I'm all about getting a v1.0 release. I worry that they're shooting for a v1.5 release, though.

As a 2-monitor PC user, who plays every single game in fullscreen windowed mode, I could not wait. :p

Seriously even some games that only have regular windowed mode, I have messed around with AutoHotKey to trick them into a maximized window thing that I can easily alt-tab out of. Every game should have fullscreen windowed mode.

Spoiler:
UGH! I feel all dirty now!
Okay, for something on-topic. Whilst I'm looking forward to Torchight 2, the character classes aren't getting me excited about the game :/

The different pets are more exciting to me than the classes themselves.

Bulldog was the best pet ever in beta. Can't wait to use him again.

Aren't the different pets just different skins?

Yes

Ferret is my pet of choice... I think of him a little like Riki Tiki Tavi for whatever reason. At least until I get those permanent transformation fish and then "Woops, sorry bud, you need to be a Fire Elemental now."

Are the changes Permanent-Permanent this time or just Permanent-(until you use another fish and once that runs out they return to their original form)?
EDIT: Still a bit pissed I lost my Mimic companion.

During the beta, it seemed like fish work the same way they did in TL1. I think the only difference may be the addition of more fish types.

Ferret is my choice too. It just looks the best prepared to have adventures what with the goggles. Never know when you might encounter a sandstorm or somesuch.

RUNIC:
"We have a ton of awesome pets for you in Torchlight 2.
Let's see. We have: a ferret with goggles; we have..."

ME:
"Give me the ferret."

Update: http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtop...

Many folks are anxious to see the game released - many have preordered, and want a date! We've been deliberately vague on this point. My hope is that if I give you an idea of what we're doing, what it takes to do it, and the scale of it, it will make it apparent why that is.

tl;dr Polish. Polish. Polish.

Well, I'm glad someone did it.

At this point, I hope they spend another six months polishing. With Diablo 3 still taking my time, several other games in the queue and Borderlands 2 dropping in a couple of months, I would rather Torchlight 2 drop at the end of the year and and be good enough to be really compelling instead of just a fun diversion like the original was.

To hell with you!

D3 didn't have staying power past the first month.

I too am going with the ferret because I've had 8 of them and they are so damn cute.

That would take them dangerously far into enemy territory, as only GEARBOX and Blizzard - their direct competitors - are known for empty promises so far.

Bulldog, all the way.

The beta got me pretty excited for the game, all this waiting is sort of killing my hype.
I'm all for polishing games but honestly things like tweaking numbers and slight balance can be saved for patches for all I care. It's a coop dungeon crawler, some skills/items can be OP or UP I really don't care.

I'm for 'sooner is better'. I know TL2 will be fantastic, thus I don't want them competing in the holiday rush. Of course, most of their sales are most likely already made with preorders so maybe it won't matter.

I still find it funny that TL2 has to somehow fit conveniently into people's gaming schedules, and that it's disaster if it conflicts with anything or shock horror they just leave it alone for a few days until they're ready.

I get the feeling that Runic do have a target they are aiming for, and it's not some vague "ask the magic 8 ball" for whether to release it, or that it's stuck in endless revisions looking for unobtainable perfection. You can go play PoE right now (paid early access) if you really want to point and click some.
