The Elder Scrolls Online Catch-All

I got an email to say I'd been given beta access. Thing is I'd probably rather just wait and play the content when it's out of beta ... Unless there's some compelling reason to take part that I'm missing?

It seems the Psijic guild opens up through a quest line near the start. I'm just wanting to level up the skills and play around with builds. Once i get it, that's as far as i'm going.

Got the email here as well but I have no plans on actually playing the beta.

So it looks like Psijic will level up similar to Brotherhood quests. So i'm done with the beta.

Need to jump in and check out Clockwork City and finish that before this goes live.

24th-30th April there's a free week of ESO+ available, and peeps who already subscribe can get free loot crates.

There are various guides like this one that suggest ways of making use of the free trial, for example collecting the various DLC rewards.

That's my plan anyway

Edit: And Cadwell's Gold is finally done \o/

Congrats! Still have 1 and a bit zones to do for Caldwell, hopefully just before the free ESO+ starts and I can run through Clockwork City.

I hit level 50 in alchemy last night, so can crank out some useful potions and poisons for us.

Maybe we can get around to a dungeon this evening, if you are available?

And with the help of some friends, Fungal Grotto and Spindleclutch dungeons were achieved

Had a great time, thanks!

\o/

Both at Veteran level, too!

Plenty more to do though...

It looks like the ESO+ free week is only for people that have never had ESO+ before

Any opinions on which DLC to prioritize during the free ESO week? Sort of leaning towards Clockwork City or Orisinium, but curious about people's opinions here.

I loved Orsinium.

I'm planning to try and complete Clockwork City. It's somewhere in the middle between Morrowind and Summerset storylines, I think.

Oh and the link I posted above seems legit, less than an hour and I've unlocked the blade of woe and the various non-combat pets, personalities and emotes.

And - Omni - it's news to me that this was only available to new players, I just grabbed it from the crown store

I'll check again this evening, just to make sure..

I liked the Orc area which I think is Orsinium. Good "area" story as well.

Yeah I'll probably end up trying out Orsinium. Trying to wrap up The Rift and Ebonheart Pact faction in the next day or so. Just having the crafting bag is tempting me to subscribe though, so I suspect Orsinium will push me over the edge.

When you subscribe you get access to all the DLC I believe.

Yeah, I've been playing with the free ESO+ trial this week and have a smorgasbord of DLC to sample, hence why I was asking for recommendations for what to try first.

I wrapped up Ebonheart Pact, decided to rip through Bleackrock Isle and Bal Foyen to satisfy my completionist tendencies, and took the cart to Wrothgar before quitting for the night. Looking forward to digging into the new zone more.

The Dark Brotherhood area in the Gold Coast is quite fun. It's a total change of pace trying to sneakily kill people, not be seen etc, rather than just running into a delve or what have you, all swords blazing.

If you're trying to make use of the ESO trial for DLC, don't waste the time doing zones that are in the base game

Also, I was either incorrect, or mis-remembered having ESO+ in the past, as I was able to activate the free trial from the Crown store. Perhaps when I did subscribe, it wasn't known as ESO+ so I wasn't excluded, or the source I read saying it was only for players that haven't had ESO+ before, was incorrect.

Yeah, this is totally me succumbing to my less efficient tendencies.

I began my ESO+ trial by grabbing all the personalities, outfits and pets you can find by entering the dlc zones, then started Clockwork City - finishing the main storyline last night. I've started both Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, but don't think I can finish them over the weekend because of the need to level up the skill lines which is a bit repetitive. Levelling Legerdemain would make Thieves Guild go much more smoothly, too. So I may leave those til next time.

I reached round 6 of Maelstrom Arena (no, not veteran) and would like to finish that. Orsinium seems like the zone most worth paying for outright - it's a good chunk of content. Some of the other dlcs are just dungeons.

I put a few hours into Orsinium last night and am digging it. The design of the city and zone feels like a significant step up from the base game, though I'm finding the city a little hard to navigate at times. The one delve I ventured into was cool looking and had an interesting layout. The conflict between faiths, between the old and the new, etc., all have the potential to be interesting. I'm still early on in the main quest but I'm looking forward to continuing.

Alas the free ESO+ ends tomorrow morning. I did pretty well though, Clockwork City largely completed barring a few side quests; a good taste of the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild and Orsinium stuff (including both the Orsinium public dungeons, which were fun to solo). By far my favourite activity though was the Maelstrom Arena which I completed on standard difficulty

I didn't touch Imperial City since I have no PvP gear.

Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild feel non-essential, since their skill lines are really specific to murdering and thieving, and the storyline and Hew's Bane/Gold Coast maps were Ok but nothing special. Orsinium though seems like a good purchase, especially for Veteran Maelstrom Arena assuming I'm crazy enough to try for that. It seemed on a par with Morrowind for size. Maybe there'll be a crown sale.

I loved the convenience of the crafting bag, and double bank space and house furniture items were great, but wouldn't sub just for these. I bought the Cyrodilic Jungle House, and it's fun to decorate, but landscaping and furniture are pretty expensive and it'll be ages before I'm in a position to fill it.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm pretty sure that Imperial City, despite being in Cyrodiil, is actually a non-PvP area.

Also, having been cranking some PvP this past week in order to unlock a couple of the abilities from that skill tree, I wouldn't say 'PvP gear' is necessary at all. Sure, you'll get minced a few times if you get stuck right in the middle, but the map is huge, and there's a lot of PvE content you can basically go around without seeing another player, or getting involved the in PvP stuff at all.

If you want, we can group up and go in specifically just targeting the PvE stuff and ignore the PvP craziness.

I'm never really a fan of PvP, but this adventure into the madness has actually been really fun.

Yeah I need Vigor and Caltrops too by rights, which you can only get from PvP - but I haven't gotten around to it while the dlcs were free to access.

While there's a bunch of PVE content in there it's a PVP area so you have to be prepared to fight others.

That's exactly what I've been going for. Need to get to Assault level 5 for Vigor and 6 for Caltrops.

I'm about half-way through level 5 now, just from doing 5 or 6 evening PvP sessions. The trick is to join a large group and just follow the heard, have a ranged attack and maybe a support ability (such as Power of the Light, for Templars). Then I just chill at the back, raining arrows, spamming Power of the Light, resurrecting where possible. I die lots, sure, but the main thing is getting the Alliance points from capturing keeps and whatnot. Not from actual PvP combat.

I also just run with the same build I do in PvE. I'm not aiming to be a world beater at PvP, or top any leaderboards. I'm purely in it to unlock the abilities As always, if you wanna group up for that, then just let me know in game.

Outside of PvP, I've been running Darkshade Caverns II when not doing PvP lately, in order to try and get the Automatons gear drops. Had plenty of them, but none have had the divines trait so far, but it's a fun, short-ish dungeon. You might benefit from that set, too?

Question on PvP - is there a mode that does not care about level? I have been tempted to try out Battlegrounds, if for no other reason than to clear the associated quest, but I am only level 19 and don't have the best gear. Is there a place to go do PvP, or is it best to wait until I am higher level and better geared?

I'm not sure if Battlegrounds is related to general PvP, seeing as it's more like small-scale PvP mini games? From what I gather anyway.

In regular PvP there is an instance for only level <50 players. From my experience, it doesn't matter what gear you have, if you're up against a mob of enemy players, you'll likely die - it's more about being healed/playing cautiously if you're not used to it, IMO.

But hey, it costs you nothing to give it a try, other than your time, but that would be the best way to answer your question

Thanks Omni!

I managed to finish Orisinium yesterday and really enjoyed it. The storytelling and design of the zone are really well done. I wish I had noticed more how the city was becoming more complete as the story progressed, but that's a minor complaint. The plot actually seemed better than Morrowind's main quest, which surprises me a bit. I'm hoping Summerset's story manages to hit the same highs as Orsinium.

I got into the Clockwork City but haven't done much yet. The weirdness so far is appealing, though.
