Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Catch All (Oliver North Approved)

Was playing some domination last night. At the start of one match, the entire rest of the team ran right by the first flag. I thought it was odd, but maybe they are going after B. Sounds good. As I cap A I hear the enemy team has B. I look a my map and my whole team is camping in some building.

That was my last game of the evening.

Everyone wanted to be a sniper?

The biggest rush I have in my Domination games is rushing right to B, popping smoke, throwing down two trophy systems (with fast hands - instant drop) and going prone picking off anyone who comes in at the 3/4 cap mark. Most of the time it works great, but despite doing this every round, I'm usually surprised at the lack of help by even one extra team-mate. Securing B early on is a pretty damn good way to lock in a match, especially if it's a close one.

I make sure I have my Sentry Gun and Guardian perks available too, those are essential in Domination. I'm still a Guardian noob though, each map's capture points have certain spots where it works good, but I don't seem to find good ones that often. I usually try to throw one in a doorway leading up to the capture point - sometimes it works great, sometimes not.

Yeah, on Domination I try to move straightaway towards B and do what I can to either cap it or prevent the enemy team from capping. And I'm disappointed with how often I am the only person to do so.

I'm not very good yet about being quick enough to adjust my scorestreaks based upon the match that's about to start, and while I try to put the Guardian to use, I'm really just not good yet at finding good locations where it can be effective without being overly vulnerable.

I've never really understood exactly how the Trophy system works; doesn't it just work against air support dropping targeted missiles, or am I missing something?

No, trophy system blows up incoming grenades. It's indispensable in grandad spammy games like domination and demolition.

Each Trophy System can take 2 grenades before it blows up, and you get 25 points per grenade "kill" so it's also an easy way to rack up some points in addition to being valuable. I believe it also takes care of flash bangs as well. Fast Hands lets you drop them immediately as it takes away the 2 second setup penalty.

I got so sick of dying immediately when trying to solo cap flags I started rolling with that load-out, and immediately started doing much, much better - and I believe had an influence for my team giving them the edge to actually win more games (while they went off and goofed around most of the time, of course :))

...I just found my new favorite piece of equipment!

Yeah, sometimes I get frustrated with the whole team standing around holding their dicks at that initial capture point when so much of the focus during the match will be on who controls B.

It matters a lot more on some maps than others though. With the maps where B can be easier to contend there are times when it might be better to get in on that initial cap and have everybody get closer to those early scorestreaks before the fighting has even started.

I'll be on tonight working towards prestige 3 if anyone is interested in joining me.

Thanks to Thin J and Obirano for the great games last night. Lots if cussing at the other team and not too much lag.

Good times.

It was a fun time. Always fun to play with people working as a team.

Sorry about last night guys, I saw your invites but I was having a haydday in Kill Confirmed.

I'm so used to this. Even in demolition when I planted the bomb, the enemy walks in and defuses while 3 team mates just stares.

If there was a penalty for losing a round(like in the league play) then CoD would be a very very different game.

At the moment I'm trying to get the Blind Eye call sign which is taking forever.

It's all good, no worries! Maybe next time.

Someone mentioned using the trophy system and smokes on domination in this thread earlier so I gave it a try. It rocks! Two games back to back I had the highest capture, defends, and K/D ratio. One of them I was like 6 captures, 9 defends and 32:6 (half of them being solo). I just unlocked the heat signature scope too so I'm going to see how that pans out.

Edit: It really annoys me when your team is dominating holding A & B (or B &C) and a group of guys decide to go for the last one which flips the spawn allowing your whole team to be flanked. I have seen it turn the tides for the worse too many times.

I love the trophy system. I usually use tac insert too, but I'll have to give the smoke a try.

I totally agree with your last point. However, if we're having a problem taking B, I like to push the third point a little to keep the other team hemmed back, trying to not get spawn camped and to take their attention away from B. I'll also try to take C just to make things interesting if we're winning 150-50 or something like that.

The heat scope is great if you are using smoke. Toss that into B and just pick off all the people trying to cap.

Last night my friends and I introduced Obirano to our Accuracy by Volume strategy.

On TDM Slums we all run a dual LMG class and hold the C side of the map. We spanked the other team 75-42. We have two people watch each lane with two in between as clean up. I've had a friend over playing split screen during this and, we put so much fire down range my headphones can't keep up with it.

I had a great game last night on the hijacked boat with the heat scop and smoke. I was like 46-8 with 4 or 5 caps and 8 or 9 defends. Smoke and infrared scope is pretty sweet for attacking B point on small maps.

This is awesome.

wish you guys played on the PC... we need more folks to team up with.

Yeah, I'm loving it. Throw a trophy system in there too for taking out grenade spam.

I was barely able to get shotgun kills on the cleanup.

For jumping blindly into the fray with us you held your own. Much nicer than having a pubbie fill the roll. Normally we have at least 5, but our fifth was having internet issues last night.

I'll admit to goofing around with the crossbow for a few matches.

Didn't see any of the gang on so Domination sounded... bad.

So I played 15 rounds of Team DM. Average K/D across all 15 rounds: 3.84

Who the what now?

Last time I played Team DM I had to work like hell to stay above 1. I guess the christmas noob effect is still going strong?

Also, the Scar-H is a headshot machine. If you're aiming for the body the third shot will get raised to head level by the recoil automatically way, way more often than I've experienced with other guns. And it's super solid at mid/long range fights too. Really high damage.

Don't charge into a bunch of SMG users though. They'll burn you every time just through pure rate of fire.

I should be on tonight.

I'll build a class to give the SCAR a go.

The SCAR-H is one of my favorite assault rifles.

I've been experimenting with a "scavenger" build depending on the map and mode. Basically, a twist on the current stupid "crazy knifer" build I see running around a lot.

I load up on six perks, still tweaking which combination I want to stick with, and the two-round anti-air lock-on rocket launcher (I forget the name of it). This leaves me with only a knife in the primary slot, but I don't run around knifing people; I run around until I find a gun that someone left on the ground, and from then on until I die I'm using borrowed weapons. Worked surprisingly well on a deathmatch map last night on Drone. It's best when you luck into a fully tricked-out weapon with three attachments, essentially for "free".

I even got to play with a diamond-skinned sniper rifle that way.

Last night we ran into a duo (or trio) of people running the Ballistic Knife. That thing is soooooooo frustrating.

Last night was night a good night overall, none of of us could get into a good groove. We quit after only about 90 minutes.

Interesting approach there. I wonder if it would make sense to try that plus wildcard & second primary instead of the launcher, but of course then you would only have 5 perks, and I guess also no attachments on the primary, but it would be less suicidal and still almost the same thing.

This has been a regular occurance on the pc side for awhile now
