Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Catch All (Oliver North Approved)

They deliberately didn't win the second round to drag it out to extra time and the game was a draw. I cannot fathom how teams can do this.

Reminds me of something a colleague told me a few years back that I can never forget:

"The whole point of multiplayer is to make other people feel bad."

I can sort of understand this sentiment. I'm the kind of person who will let off the gas in competitive games if I know friends are not having a good time. But when it comes to strangers, I could care less. No cheesy tactics for me but I can see where one attitude leads down the slope to a whole bunch of bad behaviours. It's a bit sad, but there it is.

I put some time aside this morning and finished the campaign. This is now my favorite Call of Duty. Of course the MP is incredibly well done, but I'm more impressed with what they did for the story. I won't re-hash what everyone knows and has discussed, but I don't think it can be understated how well, besides the optional Strikeforce missions, everything is executed and fits together. And if I want, I can go back and make different decisions to see a slightly different tale. This is without question one of the best games I've played this year.

My playstation name is Dakuna. It's in my sig Add me up!

I did one Strikeforce mission in SP and disliked it. Is there any benefit to doing more of them?

Apologies to those last night that invited me to parties. I wasn't trying to be a snob or anything. I play this with a bunch of RL friends and we stick exclusively to TDM; I know that most of you around here prefer Objective based games.

Argh. Frustrating games last night. The worst was a Hardpoint match where -- and no, I'm not exaggerating here -- there was only one other team member who seemed to grasp the concept that you win by going to where the hardpoint is and taking it over.

I don't know WHAT the hell the rest of my team was doing most of the time. Eventually the enemy team had such a ridiculous lead that I just went off in a corner and shot down UAV's and enemy stragglers for the last minute or so of the match so that the misery would end sooner. I very rarely straight-out give up on a match like that, but damn, people.

No problem.

I may have to hop in with you one night as I may need a palate cleanser. I used to play pretty much only TDM.

I'd play TDM as a change up from Domination too. Just speak up, I doubt anyone would object to changing things up.

Next time we have a slot open I see who's on.

We were getting major league boat anchors last night; I'm talking 2-20 kinda boat anchors. It is real hard to win TDM like that.

I'm not worried about it. I like domination as well when we've got a team going.

I really want Mercenary playlists for every game type. It's damned impossible to get anything but the whole party of coordinated people against a bunch of randoms if you play anything other than TDM. Makes playing Domination (my mode of choice by far) just constant frustration. I've played like six games tonight and my team has started jumping ship halfway through the first round every single time, and the other team is always the full group in party chat.

WHY ARE THERE NOT MORE MERCENARY LISTS.

Ugh. I don't want to play a mosh pit list. I want to play the mode I want to play. Let me do that without getting steamrolled by groups.

Yeah, I just play mercenary mosh pit. I like all of the different objective modes.

I basically like Domination and Kill Confirmed and kinda hate all the others

Since TDM, Domination and KC are the three most played game modes, you'd think that they could make a merc playlist that just has those modes in it without thinning out the player base too much.

I like Mercenary Moshpit except for Search and Destroy. I hate that mode as a random-pubby gametype.

Me too. I guess that I'm just not patient enough.

Gun game can be fun to goof around in as always, but I'm with you on those other modes, that's where I spend most of my matches. Hardcore modes are a nice change of pace too though, literally.

I will add you tonight. I did not come to the forum at all this weekend. My name is ghostleroy.

Had one match yesterday where I managed to wipe out almost the entire enemy team - in a Ground War match! - with one Lightning Strike. I just happened to get really lucky and catch them as most of them were bunched up apparently.

Wow, nice!

I played a bunch this weekend, but man, I wish there was a way to disable chat (is there?). Being called a f*ggot g*y c*cks*cker because I unlocked gold camo for my Scorpion SMG (apparently, which I should not use, because it's totally OP) makes me loathe half the people I end up playing against.

It's a nice change of pace when there's a lot of Good Game! Good Round! comments, especially seeing as teams get re-balanced after the match. I know it's a competitive game, but man, some people just need to put down the mouse and take a timeout/snack/nap and let the more mature people have fun.

Yeah, I have been doing my best to keep my mouth shut about people, but I admit I sometimes let it fly .. usually only if I feel I died unfairly, and it's usually just a 1-2 word curse. The lobby arguments are so dumb.

EDIT: as for turning off chat, I simply plug in a usb headset dongle, but don't plug the headset into the dongle if I want no chat. Keeps everyone effectively muted, and it's really easy to re-attach a headset at any time.

Yeah, I forget exactly where, it's somewhere in your privacy/security options, where you can restrict voice and/or video to just your friends list. Which I have done. I originally had it on again for Black Ops 2, hoping that in league games people might actually use voicechat to cooperate and use teamwork.

I know, I know. You can stop laughing now.

After a couple days of seeing that CoD voicechat is as bad (or worse) as it's ever been, I turned non-friends-list voice communication right back off again. The game is so much more fun when I just treat the other players as brilliantly-programmed bots (look, they've even programmed bots that play like moronic douchebags!)

It's always the same thing:

- Your gun should not be used, it is too powerful, and that makes you a bad player.
- I'm so good I don't need to use attachments or perks. You do, which makes me better than you.
- Your particular weapon attachment means you are a bad player.
- Look at my score, it is so awesome. I r*ped everyone. I'm so cool.
- Hello opposing team, my team is incompetent. I should have been on your team. I am sad at the lack of skill of my fellow players.
- Hello team member, 3 kills and 20 deaths? Really? Why are you playing this game, you should quit please.
- Lag compenstation (To be fair, I can agree to this at times)
- Nice camping, opposing player. How dare you shoot me from afar? I prefer my encounters up-close. (In an objective based game, no less)

I think I might just cut out a piece of paper and tape it to the screen and cover up that silly little chat box. Pretend I'm playing with some really good bots or something It's not all terrible though, I really love close games where people seem to be having a good time.

I didn't realize you're playing on the pc; I don't know if there's a way to modify the text chat.

on the PC when holding tab you can use your arrow keys and then hit enter on the folks you want muted. I've accidentally ended up muting everyone at once one time but not been able to duplicate it.

I was wondering how to do that. Baffled that it's not an upfront option considering the public behavior of past titles.

You can mute everyone in the room on 360, but I forget how to do it at the moment.

It's X on the menu screen. I don't know how to do it mid-game.

On PS3 you can mute in the pre and post game screens (I think -- maybe that was only on previous iterations). I think you can mute in game by pushing select, then x on the name you want muted. Again, I know that worked on previous iterations, but I haven't tried it on blops2
