Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Catch All (Oliver North Approved)

I can vouch for the glory of the 870 with long barrel and laser sight.

The gif you guys are talking about comes from this:

Ranalin put me on to the FAL with the selector switch to make it automatic and it's the gun I have kept unlocked after prestigeing (spelling?) Sweet at long and short range. This is what a modded controller must feel like.

The friends I play with regularly have the same arguments about how to play domination. We usually win more than we lose but when we get humped it's usually by the teams with lots of kills. I think we are in the middle ground of capping versus killing but the best teams seem to go all out for the kills and taking flags almost looks after itself. Feels like that anyway.

You know, I've been a fan of the multiplayer for several years now, and I have never seen the lag/host problems so consistently and with such detrimental effect on my ability to play the game as I have with Black Ops 2. It's infuriatingly bad. To the point where I might just end up giving up and trading this one in. Kinda hard to enjoy a shooter where you can't shoot people because you end up dead most of the time due to lag.

This is part of the reason that I've been playing more Halo lately.

Also, I don't think that it helps that I've been playing mostly group games partied up with GWJers, which I enjoy immensely. The problem is that we are so geographically diverse that I think that it's impossible to find a host that has good ping times for everyone in the party. I'd bet that I'd see less lag if I played alone. But, that's boring.

ya i just look at it as a part of the BO experience on the 360. I know when i play with yregprincess and his mates i'll have moments of lag. On the PC i found a setting that will allow me to search for servers with the best connection for me and since then havent had much of an issue.

That setting's there on the 360 too, and it does help but only if you're queuing up by yourself.

I'd assume it would still work for the party leader, but the rest of the group would be screwed.

That's fantastic

I finished the single player campaign last night. I'm not sure if I'm just getting older, but oh-my-god explosions just don't do it for me any more. Just like the other CODs, I felt like cattle being herded from one objective to the other, with the random jet/truck/bus/cow being thrown at me at the typical scripted events.

The violence and language seemed too hard to be edgy. I'm all about violence, don't get me wrong - but something about this game took the violence out of the fun-zone, and made it a little more vile or something. I just didn't dig it, and I'd hate to see any kids playing this (unfortunately, they are).

The score was good in some places, Tony Todd was an unexpected surprise, and it wasn't terrible - but it wasn't much fun either. I kept hoping the next level would be the "last" so I could get some closure on the story, it's never a good sign when you feel like you're slogging through something and not enjoying yourself, but don't want to stop until seeing the final conflict resolution.

MOVE->HERD->SHOOT->REPEAT. At least MP is still a blast - human opponents are way, way more fun.

I've tried the campaign a bit, since I actually quite enjoyed the campaign in Black Ops, but so far the jingoistic paranoia has been ratcheted up to annoying Tea Party levels, such that it detracts significantly from what could've been an entertaining (albeit silly) cold-war-paranoia story like the first game had.

In contrast, the Halo 4 campaign was infinitely more enjoyable. Maybe it was the pacing, maybe it was the superior AI that made each fire fight unique, or maybe it was the more open levels that didn't feel so "pushy" (Big levels, multiple paths to objectives, choosing to use vehicles).

Personally i've always thought that both those comments could be used going back for each year their releases coincided.

I'm not sure which campaign made less sense. Having not read any of the Halo novels, I pretty much had no idea what the story was, aside from go here, kill dudes, then press a button and kill more dudes.

I think it did a good job of having a decent protagonist to hate the whole way. I'm not talking about story though, I just found the game play mechanics to be more fun, and I felt more in control of the experience. There were a few annoying moments, but most encounters left me with more of a thrill and less of a feeling of slogging through an on-rails campaign.

For me, the pinnacle was COD2 and MW1 - both were pretty amazing at the time, and a fresh experience. I find each year, and each iteration - I still play through them, but the formula is just too familiar no matter what new techie weapons or conspiracies they toss out there. No doubt this is due to being bombarded with a yearly release.

Yeah I totally agree. Much more leeway in how you complete the mission in Halo.

Hmm, I thought the campaign was the best since MW1. I dig how your performance during each mission has an effect on the narrative. The changes are sometimes subtle, the "choices" aren't in your face like they are in games like Mass Effect or The Walking Dead, and I think testing your performance is a more interesting way of doing that sort of thing rather than "how many side quests can you do" (Mass Effect) or "pick what you want to say to this person, take 15 seconds to decide" (The Walking Dead).

Don't get me wrong, this isn't some narrative masterpiece, but it experimented with the structure in ways I can get behind.

COD is all about enemy pathing to create cinematic moments. In Halo you are put into an arena with dynamic AI that plays out differently every time you play it. When I was listening to the podcast where Julian (I'm pretty sure it was him) was talking about how Halo was fun but needed more story telling in the gameplay I was thinking "No, please No!". I play Halo for the sandbox combat, I don't want to be tunneled around heavily scripted sequences. I have never played a COD campaign more then once, I buy it for the multiplayer. I buy Halo for the campaign and co-op stuff, multi is just a plus.

I have to agree, I do like the way they handled choices in BO2 - it was a welcome change. The custom load-outs for missions was also a plus.

Hardcore Kill Confirmed is back!

So I've been away for a little while. Who wants to set up a time to play (360)? Maybe Thursday night?

Thursday works for me. I stopped playing when the rest of you did

I went back to the PC to get diamond on shotguns and sniper rifles.

Ok so, this weekend, I managed to go 30-9 with 16 tags picked up on kill confirmed... and I used nothing but my knife (and scorestreaks). And no, I don't have ghost yet. 6 perks, a launcher for destroying UAVs, my own uav, sentry gun and agr for scorestreaks, and a held knife, no primary weapon whatsoever. That was so much fun!

My shotgun build is levelling up nicely off of the people spamming crazy knife builds like that.

I'm guessing they're not going 30-9

Thursday doesn't work for me, but I'll be keeping an eye out for you all. After playing so much hitman, I need some fast paced craziness.

You would be correct; at least not the ones I've seen!

30-9 is pretty good for a knife build, I usually get really annoyed at crazed knifers, but then I notice their score is generally pretty bad.

There is this one guy I see fairly often on the Oz servers though who uses a knife and throwing axes and he does quite well... he also seems to really hate me for some reason and constantly swears at me and calls me a camper. He doesn't do this to anyone else, it's baffling!
