Doctor Who *Spoilers Abound! We've lost Containment*

I agree that Bill is fantastic. What was so annoying about Donna?

She had that "Annoying Coworker I Avoid Making Eye Contact With Otherwise I Have to Again Hear The Entire Story About How The Plumber Tried to Rip Her Off Last Week In A Voice That Makes My Spine Want To Jump Out A Window" vibe going on.

Shrug. Isn't what she had to say more important?

Rose was good in the first season with Eccleston but got worse over time for me.

Doctor Who's Next Doctor Is Finally Being Unveiled This Sunday

It’s been 165 days since we heard that Peter Capaldi’s time on Doctor Who was up. Now, we finally know that it’s going to be just a few short days until we meet his successor.

The BBC has just announced that this Sunday, July 16, after the men’s Wimbledon final has aired on BBC One (they couldn’t have made this more thoroughly British if they’d tried, really), the identity of the 13th Doctor will be revealed.

I loved Donna. And "bovvered" is now a permanent part of my lexicon. Favorite companion overall is actually Rory, though Bill might end up supplanting him. Least favorite was Clara for the writing/character reasons already given.

Also very excited to find out the next Doctor. It'll be a family event.

I know my vote...

I think Rose Tyler was actually my least favorite of the new companions. I think Bill has passed Pond for the #1 spot.

But if we're talking all-time favorites:

I am excite!

Neat.

Welp, I'm super happy with that choice.

My Who-mad daughter and I are very happy with this.

Dr Who Theme mixed with Blondie. :O

You're welcome, ears.

Re-quoting because apropos.

I have a teenage daughter. There was squee when I showed her the announcement.

Hmm soon to release a Dr Who-themed Barbie?

I didn't really love her in Broadchurch, but that may have more to do with the character than the acting. Still I'm excited to see what she does with this role.

I'd say that's the role. Her Broadchurch character was meant to be a bit overbearing. If you watch much BBC, you'll have seen her pop up in a bunch of different roles. Enough that I recognized her pretty quickly in the announcement video. She does seem to play kind of mousey characters a lot. I'm not sure I've seen her in a particularly confident role. But she seems to have enough range that she should be pretty good.

My wife was describing a large breadth of roles she's seen her do. She was very pleased. Also, yay! My family of whovians is very happy

More important than Broadchurch, she was the nurse in Attack the Block. She's going to be great.

Cool. I was kinda getting bored with it and missed the last couple seasons. Will probably be paying up to watch it as it airs.

Meh.

I've no thoughts one way or the other about Jodie Whitaker though I did like Attack the Block. As for a woman doctor though, can I just say...

Spoiler:

...it's about goddamn time. #sorrynotsorry

Just had a brainwave: bring her in as the Rani.
