Doctor Who *Spoilers Abound! We've lost Containment*

They kept that Beauty and the Beast - Something There melody from the Christmas episode! Seriously, am I the only one to think that? It must be Clara's theme. Love it except that it's distracting enough to make me come post about it.

Edit: Finished! That was amazing. Clara's character is great. I love how the dialogue between her and the Doctor plays like a 1940s Hollywood movie. It reminds me of scenes with Cary Grant and Catherine Hepburn.

Surprised more people aren't discussion the episode. Love Clara, but felt like she didn't get nearly enough screentime to reintroduce her to the audience. The plot was kind of basic, but next week's episode looks like a classic Who episode.

Melovecoffee and I went back and watched Asylum of the Daleks and The Snowmen last night, too. Asylum is easily the best Who episode of Moffett's era. I hope 11 and Clara get back to that kind of rapport.

Oh, I'll gladly talk about the Beauty and the Beast thing all day except that no one will agree or disagree with me for some reason.

It has some similarities, happy now?!

I rewatched the prequel and was saddened to see that Clara didn't pick up that leaf in the park.

I didn't like this episode. Furious typing with bits of code flashing across the screen is one of the dumbest things a tv show can do.

While it is stupid and I cringed at it, it's no less stupid than wielding a "sonic screwdriver" that automatically does what you think/imagine to everything... but wood.
You don't see too many mechanics or other people using screwdrivers complain (well I don't at least, lol) about it =P

Did anyone else think of a certain Estevez brother during that one line...?

I didn't like the new inside of the Tardis. Everything else looked great. I think they got a bump in the budget.

I'm betting the new girl is young River.

Stargate set design.

Suprised this hasn't been mentioned yet (unless I didn't go back far enough in the thread - haven't really been keeping up)...

For the 50th anniversary special...

Yeah, I saw that.. should hopefully be a good 'un. Also, in 3D!

Yeah, the details were fun (banter, etc.), but the plot was the worst of the "writers don't understand technology enough to make a convincing plot from it" variety. Luckily, I didn't really notice the plot much (zing!), and it's hard not to love Clara.

Well, the plot was lifted wholesale from The Idiot's Lantern. Not sure if that exculpates the writers or just digs them deeper.

WRT the "OMG Hacking," yes, typing faster does not make you smarter about computers, and hacking does not consist of two people on either side of a firewall furiously playing dueling keyboards. OTOH, the one point they actually make about hacking (instead of using fast typing to say "then hacking happens") is pretty valid: Finding employee information (usually names, not pictures) and using that to snoop around on social networks is a valid and effective spearphishing technique, either to find data on the company or information that will make your phish more compelling.

Less believable is that any twentysomething in the first world, regardless of their level of computer literacy, wouldn't have heard of Twitter.

Dammit, April Fools! Saw this on my G+ timeline:

Breaking News: DAVID TENNANT RETURNS!

David Tennant is returning full time as The Doctor from 2014, in a story penned by RTD, who has been asked to return to Doctor Who following th departures of Matt Smith and Steven Moffat in the Christmas Special. It's thought to be linked to the 50th and the Parallel Earth Doctor getting caught in a regeneration crisis that reverses the process. Details are only just coming to light, with Tennant confirmed for the 50th and now the Christmas Special, allowing Smith to follow his Hollywood dream, Moffat has been approached to write a major blockbuster film script involving, oddly enough, a time traveller.

Oh, thank God that's a joke,

Longer coat, yes?

I thought it was solid enough, perhaps straying a bit too far towards the silly at some points (zomg wifi brain hax! flying bike!) and a bit too far towards the grim at the end (with Mrs. Whatsherface's fate). The Doctor is actually seeming kind of desperate for Clara's attention here, and I'm not in love with that dynamic, but perhaps he'll get over it.

Anyone else think it is a bit wierd that the Doctor was frightened by whatever Captain Jack is but intrigued by Oswin? I know they are a bit different and I'm sure it can be easily explained away in the wonky Doctor Who universe.

With Captain Jack, he knew the "how" of it. One of the things that most intrigues him about Oswin is how it happens.

Much like in The Lodger, I love what The Doctor gets up to when he's killing time on Earth. His list of things he did while Clara was asleep was hilarious. As was, "Because it's a surprisingly accurate description!"

EDIT: Besides it probably being River who gave Clara the number, did anyone else think this plot seemed similar to Silence In The Library ie uploading people to a server?

Also, this:

Joanna Page added tot he 50th anniversary cast, no word on what character she'll play as. This photo really makes me want to have at least 1-2 seasons of Tennant+Jenna.

Also, one of villains revealed:

They were clearly filming the readthrough for the dvd extras.

Also, did anyone else misunderstand when they said something to the effect of "you can't save her [this time/again]" as a throwback to the previous episodes instead of the immediate upload danger?

May be skimming but did anyone else notice that:

Spoiler:

Craig was one of the uploaded folks in the bank of screens?

Really? I never looked that closely!

OMG REALLY? Well, I guess I'll just have to watch it again to see that. Darn.

We rewinded twice and while we weren't 100% sure it sure looked like him. I choose to believe it was.

That means Craig's body died! I hope it's not true, for Stormageddon's sake.

Spoiler:

I was under the impression that the body doesn't die, but rather is just soulless. As long as the body gets some source of food and water, they could live a long time (much like a coma patient). So when the system was purged at the end, everyone was revived.

Doctor accidentally kills Craig, Stormageddon grows up and finds out, new nemesis!
