Preview of Neverwinter From Cryptic and PWE

How is the game for a F2P? Is the cash grab still there? I played the game a loooooooooong time ago and remember that money spent on Zen wasn't a necessity but really did help a lot. I don't know if things have changed but I have a friend interested in trying the game when the Paladin is put in so I was thinking I may try it again.

I haven't played in a while, but while spending a bit up front helps, there's no real need to as far as I was able to tell.

Been trying it on xbox. It's fairly well done, controls are a little wonky but workable. I'm a tad disappointed that my zen balance isn't showing up. I have a bank of 1200 on PC and showing 0 on xbox. I'm not sure if I'll spend money again short of a birthday giftcard

I tried out a little Neverwinter on XBO this morning. It's pretty fun, will take some time to get used to the controller. I do really dig kicking back on the couch and playing an MMO though.

Anyone else planning to play this? I did send you a FR Rooks.

Thanks Doc!

I see myself playing this semi regularly so if anyone else is playing feel free to add me.

I've got a rogue up to level 21-ish this week but I've also been having severe connection issues, it can take several tries to log in and I frequently get dc'd when moving between zones. I might wait a couple weeks for the launch traffic to settle down before I play with any regularity.

I don't know who's bright idea it was to have Defensive Fighter's shield block be Left Stick click in, but that's incredibly awkward.

One thing I've noticed is that the lag is pretty bad. Maybe that's just the starter area? Does it get better when the game opens up?

It is very jittery and the performance is at times poor. Hopefully they straighten out.

I don't think it's unplayably bad but I have a high tolerance from having a sub-par PC as my only gaming device for years.

Skimming here. Is the XBONE version on the same servers as the PC version? I have a somewhere around 20 lvl ranger I'd be willing to group up with people when I'm free.

I haven't been able to link my accounts yet, so can't comment on that one. It definitely feels ok to play. A couple hitches, and dropped twice while zoning are the only problems have had so far.

Nope, totally separate. No shared characters, no PC play crossplay and (unfortuntately for me) even your zen balance will show 0 on xbox

However, given that it's free I do think it's worthwhile to play in bits & spurts (as I do).

Just starting out on this one (PC), anyone have a link to a decent starter guide? Had a bit of a look around this morning, and found lots of fragmented information that may or may not be up to date.

Thanks

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I have been playing this quite a bit after logging back in and checking things out -- anyone else still on the PC side of things?

I don't currently play, but I could be persuaded to re download it... I wouldn't mind making a character just for GWJ goofing off on the random times where people are available.

There aren't any other GWJers playing aside from myself and Drexam, who only lurks around here now that L4D2 has long fizzled out.

Well, I am having a baby in Feb next year, so I'd probably have to give up by then anyways.

I have time this weekend if you are interested. I'll be going through the massive pile of unplayed games I have on steam if you are not.

Unfortunately, I'm out of town through Sunday this weekend -- congrats on the new baby tho!

Is anybody playing on the PC?

I have no friends...I'm all alone in the world. I am forced to run dungeons with strange weirdos and vulgar miscreants.

I would prefer to play with familiar weirdos and vulgar miscreants.

I'm on PC but play very sporadically. and haven't for awhile due to being solo. What times do you typically play?

I'm usually online after 7pm EST. i split my MMO time between neverwinter and guild wars 2.

I'd be happy to start up a character for when I am available to play. I used to have 1 or 2 nights a week 8-11pm EST, but lately I've been travelling a lot for work and barely getting any play time.

If that isn't too disjointed for you I'll reinstall tonight and might be free tomorrow for a quick start.

I too have a pretty disjointed schedule myself so i have really no expectations. if you decide to fire up the game that's great.

Ok got logged back in last night... I have a level 27 Ranger.

I also have an empty slot for whatever we want to make if you don't have one near that level. Just let me know which you prefer. I am a little sad monks haven't made it into the game yet though.

I have a Level 41 Guardian fighter that I'm currently leveling.

My character is named Varis Bearcharger. I will be idling for a bit in Neverwinter while I take care of a few chores but I should be ready to play in a little bit if you're up for it.

Coolio. it will be fun to have some company. currently im just running around doing quests. I may post a general announcement like "Tuesday Night Neverwinter" or something since it looks like thats my Neverwinter night and maybe if we can get a few more people playing we can start a guild.

A small guild would be nice... I think we could use the new functionality of the gwj scheduler to bring up awareness when it's implemented.

i agree. I'll see what I can come up with. i always seem to be reading GWJ on my phone so the full power of the empire is often lost on me.

So fired it back up/patched to current. Logged in with my level 60 cleric annnnnd I don't remember how to play its been so long........at the time I stopped playing I had pretty much all purple pvp gear. All my skills/powers have been reset. Maybe I'll make a new character and relearn to play, lol.

lol I did the same thing when I logged in last week. I only had a level 27 character and had no idea what my plans were. I ran around town and didn't try to brave combat yet while I reoriented myself.
