Preview of Neverwinter From Cryptic and PWE

I found this really well put together lady...er i mean guide for the Trickster

http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/sho...

He does a great job of outlining the good and bad of a ton of stuff . Me being that I am about ot get my 20 will have to rethink some of my decisions. I've been playing kind of willy nilly but now will work off of this guide.

I Am Slayer is a good foundry quest with an interesting twist. I was little offput by the name but needed a quick Foundry quest for the daily and figured it would do (as an aside, it doesn't actually count for the daily, so that was dumb of me). It's just a basic combat quest, but the enemies are fun to fight, and there's a twist ending I actually wasn't expecting at all, which is surprisingly clever for a player generated mission.

I really liked I am the Slayer as well.

I liked the Slayer quest's ending quite a bit.

Spoiler:

I had figured something was wrong when the quest giver started meowing.

Also, FYI in case this confuses anyone else as much as it did me -- if you purchase Zen from the Perfect World site, you have to transfer it from your online wallet on their web site to one of the games, e.g., Neverwinter, before it'll show up in the game.

I'm assuming you still get quest exp for Foundry missions? Also, how do the Foundry missions handle player level? I only glanced at them for a second but I didn't notice a level range listed, does it just scale to the player? And finally in this quick burst of questions, how is level difference between players handled in groups?

Kehama wrote:

You do, and the loot is still available in Foundry missions as well. No unique loot items, and there is a cap on the amount of loot that can be gained per day via Foundry missions.

Generally the Foundry description will tell you how many players you should have, and roughly what level the players are expected to be. At least, that's how STO and CO handle it. Neverwinter might handle it via scaling, but I can't imagine a level 15 character taking down an archdemon under any circumstance.

Most instances seem to have a set level for the enemies, like the zones do. So if a player is above level for the instance, they can thrash it. If they're below level for the instance, the reverse is true. I believe that there is a cap on the amount of xp that can be earned for any one event, so that prevents power levelling to an extent. There's no value in dragging a level 10 through a level 60 instance, for example.

Just hit 24 this morning.
She's marvelous and I love the steam punk look.

Thanks for The Hidden Blade recommendation, it was really well done. Loved the atmosphere.

Made 25 today, and so close to buying a mount, feels great. The helm's a little ridiculous, to say the least.

So bad news/bad news/good news. Bad news - still rubberbanding after ever patch. Bad news - hard drive crashed. - Potentially good news - bought a replacement hard drive so once I get every thing reinstalled, maybe I won't rubber band in Neverwinter....

Rains, That's Good-Bad-Bad news! I'm happy sad for you!
Fingers crossed that you get to try this game finally. it is odd that you are alone in this rubber banding issue out of all of us GWJers.

I'm in.. some nice person gifted me a founders pack.. Kruel on the Dragon server.

If that doesn't work, the only other thing I can think of is if somehow I have a port blocked that the game uses, or something with my 7 year old wireless router. I replaced the cable modem, and upgraded my cable service.

Game installed and no rubberbanding! Crossing my fingers it stays that way!

I have had a little bit of rubber banding, but it is very intermittent and does not usually last very long. I have been having some hiccups in my connection in general, so I think that is my issue.

Is anyone having trouble with the gateway web portal, or is there a minimum level to use it? I have tried it from chrome on my laptop and from my phone (galaxy S3) and in both I can login and get to the character list, but then clicking the character in the list does not do anything. I only have the one character and he is only level 7 or maybe 8

Level 10 for tradeskills. It might be the same for everything though. The web interface is REALLY weird. Try another browser if possible or see if it fixes itself when you hit 10.

Well it is working for me now but my char is level 12 and I started the professions before trying again. So maybe you do need to be 10 or maybe it was just a bug that went away.

Rains, I did get some rubberbanding the last couple days but mostly in Protector's Enclave. Other than that it's not terrible but have timed out in a couple instances. Could still talk on Teamspeak, could still chat, just could not interact or kill anything.

Oh, and here's a screenshot of my char. This is Turrash at 55. Unfortunately I look close to the same I did at 20 (hehe)

Nice! 55 already?! Man, I'm leveling slow... but mostly because real life keeps getting in the way.

Wooohoooo!

I've played quite a bit so far. At 45 I had 40 hours played (you can type /played to see your total time). I'm not sure how many more hours I've put in to get to 55. Probably another 8 or so. What helps a lot is the tradeskills. I'm constantly on my phone or on the web logged in to the gateway. I have 5 slots open so that chunk of xp you get when you login is always really nice

I thought that XP only applied to your trade skill progression. Cool, if not.

You can get both trade skill xp and character xp from professions.

Some tasks give character xp as rewards in addition to items, etc.. You can see what rewards you get befre you choose them. The Yellow diamond is profession XP and the bluish diamond is character xp.

*crossing fingers* Awesome! I know you've hung in there for quite some time now, I hope it's fixed for you.

Wonderful overview of the current economy, especially FtP.

Any other Founders get their Astral Diamonds?? not sure how/when I get mine..

You can find them on the tab for AD/Zen Exchange at the bottom

I just ordered $20 worth of zen and it took several days to get to me.

I was given several reasons why it may be delayed but it appeared that there was a checkout issue that has been rectified.

These were some of them. Mine was to do with Google Checkout on the 6th.

---------
I bought Zen but have not yet received the Zen in my wallet
---------
It appears that there was a communication error late May 6th 2013 through early May 7th 2013 which resulted in some transactions being stuck in a pending state. We would like let you know that we are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

We also experienced a short communication error with Google checkout around May 4th 2013 which resulted in some transactions being stuck in a pending state. We are pleased to let you know that this issue has been addressed. We apologize for the delay in receiving your Zen.

If you still do not see the ZEN from your purchase credited to your PWE account, please do not hesitate to let us know.

----------
I purchased Zen but I do not see it in game.
----------
In order to use your purchased Zen in the game of your choice, you will need to transfer the Zen from your Zen wallet to the game. You can do so here: https://billing.perfectworld.com/myw.... Please note that you may need to log out and back in to see the change in your in-game balance.

---------
The only server option for transferring Zen to Neverwinter is “Neverwinter”
----------
When Zen is transferred to Neverwinter, the Zen will be available to all of your characters on all of the servers. Thus it is not necessary to have a specific server listed. We apologize for the confusion.

Is the bottom tier founders pack worth it? Has anyone purchased that one yet? In looking up the bag and adventure kit in the zen store, they equal out to about $16-$20 in content. It doesn't seem to really be a $50 value as advertised unless that amulet is worth $30. Am I missing something?

Oh man, I've heard other people complaining of the same thing over the weekend. Sorry to hear that.

I purchased a $20 zen card at GameStop on 5/4 and it updated the correct amount as soon as I entered it. Of course it then it took me a while to figure out how to transfer that into the game via the process described above.

Still, the game card approach may be worth considering for future purchases until their system is improved. Your state may require sales tax, but the plus side is that you can trade in some old games to subsidize the new addiction

I wouldnt bother. That bag of holding is only 12 spots. For $10 you can buy enough zen to get the Greater bag for 24 spots. The bottom tier doesn't seem good enough.

I'd have gone for the next one up but I just can't swing it this month. the $20 is to buy myself some basics, like a decent horse/some sort of ride and I got an extra $10 and got a bag while i was waiting for the 2000 to come in.
