Giant Bomb Bomb-All

Cliffy B has already won me over.

I wanted more straight up analysis and then "butt tumblr" happened. And then I settled in and I was happy.

This is just the best livestream ever. Holy crap.

Not watching the livestream yet, but I did just watch the Day 1 recap. Holy crap, Vinny and Drew are editing geniuses. What an amazing 13 minute video.

Giantbomb E3 streams are all 30 minute breaks, all the time.

Wow, the Giant Bomb Interview Dumptruck is 4th on Itunes audio podcasts. Not just games podcasts but all podcasts.

PLAY. THE. GAME.

Yeah, I'm only like 16 minutes in, but I'm definitely into what Cliffy B has to say. He might come off as a bit of a dick, but he definitely tells it like it is.

The John and John interview is fantastic. Johnny V was just busting at the seams trying not to say something that would get him fired. I can't imagine the look on the face of the PR handler through that whole thing.

Please tell me there's somewhere to watch the video of these streams, not just the audio? Is it archived on Twitch?

BEEP BEEP!

Are they putting videos up of the live shows anywhere, or just audio versions? I can't find a video for Day 1.

It's just audio (Bombcast) on the site. For video you'll have to hit Twitch.

Also, STREAM IS LIVE.

Yup.

Agreed. I watched the live stream last night, and the first segment (Cliff and Jonathan) was the best discussion IMO. Each subsequent segment seemed to exponentially devolve into random rambling and/or several people talking at the same time. The last segment I (sort of) saw before falling asleep was Brad Muir and the Harmonix guy. It was essentially unwatchable due to the reasons I mentioned. Also, because of Alex. I really don't like the way he acts / things he says.

Yup.

Does anyone know if there is a way to watch this on ios? Twitch.com won't work in the browser since it uses flash, and the Twitch ios app has no search and no way to enter the above URL. I even follow GB on twitch and this still doesn't show up in the app under "following".

(I'm sorry if this is a dumb question with an obvious answer)

Unless they're streaming live, I can't watch it at twitch.tv on iOS either.

Yeah, that's the crappy thing about the iOS / Droid Twitch apps. They only show streams that are broadcasting live. Afaik there is no way to bring up archived videos.

Unfortunate that I can't watch, but at least I know now it is because of Twitch's app structure and not my own incompetence. (at least this time) Oh well, I'll catch it later.

This video is fantastic - great editing, snappy analysis and Jeff being Jeff:

I love the ending.

After all this talk of butttumblr, Google isn't allowing porn apps on Gogoglass.

Also, I missed the end of that vid and it was great.

Don't google "butt tumblr". You'll find that the Internet has indeed got the whole butt thing covered. On Tumblr.

There is always Fart Patrol dot com, a Justin McElroy joint.

Adam Boyes is pretty cool.

Last Livecast with Nathan from Capy is why I like games.

Just finished watching.

This is far and away the best piece of production work I've seen from Giant Bomb. The video editing and soundtrack overlays were fantastic. Great analysis and a fun look at the "making the sausage" of E3 presser attendance and video production.

Man, don't miss this one.

I wish I could edit video with 1/20th of the skill that Drew can. My YouTube channel would be making me a billion dollars if I could. That dude is so incredibly skilled and talented.

Yeah, their E3 produced videos were grand. The end of that video is gold.

Yeah, that video was really impressive. Especially when you take into account that he probably had to use a different computer, probably less resources and much less time to put it together due to the fact that all their stuff got swiped.

I'm feeling lukewarm on the podcasts again, though. I agree that having a bunch of people on doesn't lend well, and in fact kind of highlights the fact that the standard bombcast crew have a general rapport and chemistry together that most other outlets don't even come close to having. I would be fine if they maybe had one or two guests in rotation with them to provide another voice. (Justin McElroy continues to work well with them.) But so much of these E3 ones are dead air, or people rambling and talking over each other, or someone finally starting to say something interesting or insightful only for the wind to be taken out of them because everyone is distracted with something off-camera or are making a bunch of forced and unfunny jokes.

Yeah, I usually skip the "open mic" podcasts. The occasional something hilarious happening or insightful point made is far offset by cluster that makes up 90% of them.

The after hours shows were particularly bad for unintelligible amounts of people yelling over each other this year but some of that was because you can tell the guys have been incredibly stressed and exhausted because of both the show and losing all their gear. Maybe I've just been listening to them so long that I could tell that, I'm not sure. Could also have dealt with drunk Patrick's kind of obnoxious way of forcing into conversations with obvious points but acting like they're revelatory (also see his diary podcast where he drunkenly makes the eye-rolling point about how all Apple has to do is release a controller for the iPad and they win all of gaming.)

The reason I listen to them is because since people are usually slighty tipsy at the very least on these things, little tidbits slip. Like for example, when the Respawn guys said that because the PC version of Titanfall can't use Xbox One's still unexplained cloud stuff, it likely will be lacking features compared to the Xbox One version and will probably be closer to the 360 version, which is being outsourced. You could tell right after they said it that they regretted it. An interesting tidbit for me since there's a good chance I won't be buying an Xbox One and will probably skip Titanfall on PC if it's gimped. I really do enjoy listening to developers talk in a super casual way about the stuff they're working on. It's nice to hear enthusiastic, passionate people largely able to talk without the gross PR ooze on everything.
