Giant Bomb Bomb-All

Ah, OK. I misunderstood.

Since he joined the crew there has been a huge influx of Quick Looks of different types of games.

Yeah, and I appreciate that.

I don't have the strong dislike for Patrick that some do. I just found it odd that he was in nearly every QL video released in the last few/several days.

I find it weird in general that half of this thread is about Patrick

I'm slowly leaning towards more of a dislike of Brad.

But man, I'm lovin' Drew - easily one my favorites in the group.

My impression is that Patrick is either the most available or the hardest worker. Either way, he has the worst editorial approach and that's the main reason I don't like him.

I normally like Brad quite a bit, but he has fallen way down the Dota hole recently.

I love them all.

Drew is awesome. He's kind of like Dave (dammit, pay him whatever he wants to come back!) in that he always bring weird and unique things to the table and when he tells a story, it's somehow always riveting to listen to.

I actually like Brad too but yeah between him and Idle Thumbs, there's a whoooooole lotta' Dota goin' on.

Wow, that was the best damn TNT in a long while.

Haven't watched a TNT in awhile, but man... That was pretty good

My guess is the former. Jeff seems to do a lot of behind-the-scenes work, and Vinny does production/logistics.

I guess I've been listening to them since the hotspot days so I like that they each have their own sort of area of expertise. Brad definitely has that addictive multiplayer personality (Starcraft/DOTA), so I like that we get his perspective since it's the only way it'd really get any play on the site. Same with Patrick and the more esoteric stuff.

The only person that I seem to not to really sync with is Rorie. I don't get the puppies thing. I guess I find it cloying.

Count me in as also not caring for Rorie at all. The puppies thing is just one example of how his "humor" consists of referring to one thing that isn't all that funny to begin with and flogging it for months and years. Also, he's not someone who seems used to commentating with others because every podcast he's been on, he's almost aggressive in his disinterest in adding something to the conversation.

Agreed, although I think that comes from the fact that Dave and Drew aren't actually game journalists. It's much easier to dive deep into something like Eve Online or a flight simulator when your job doesn't revolve around playing whatever came out last week to completion.

Looks like Patrick won't be on every Quick Look anymore:

Six years ago, I moved from Chicago to San Francisco. Six years later, I’m headed back.

Basically he'll be on staff still but working remotely and doing video stuff from home.

Wow, good for Patrick.

I wonder if that means he's off the bombcast.

Probably so - kinda like Alex, I would imagine.

Yeah he's most definitely off the Bombcast. I'm not going to take the time to quote myself from earlier in the thread, but this is exactly what I wanted: him in a more news-related, less editorial role and off the 'cast. I know I sound like a bitter old f*ck about this, but I listen to older shows often enough to say without doubt he throws off the chemistry.

I never thought he would do that but I'm also not surprised. I remember him saying during a podcast where they were talking about wedding stuff that he and his wife "wanted to buy a house some day" and I was like "Well, you're never going to do that in San Francisco." There are definitely traits of his I don't like versus the rest of the crew (particularly his doom and gloom about the AAA market) but he was an important voice there but it looks like he'll be continuing to be through writing which I agree is what he's best at. The idea he has about a live show with Alex could be interesting too. I hope he does well in his new role.

I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's because I'm closer to his age or I remember watching him on G4 or on 1up, but I've always enjoyed Patrick's addition to the show and I'm really bummed he's moving away.

I understand his reasons, though.

And I miss Dave!

I don't like change! Stop all the changes!

Maybe I can start regularly listening to the podcast again. Unless they put Rorie on it. If they must put somebody outside of the main four on the podcast, they need to unleash the Drew.

I really hope they don't have Rorie on the podcast. His best is fine. His voice really isn't suited for radio.

I only really don't like Patrick when he starts his CRESCENDO TALKING OF INCREDULOUSNESS!

I have to say, I have been downloading through an RSS feed the HD videos now, and I find the quality a lot better than their video player. I don't know if it's in my head or not, but everything through Itunes looks so much more crisp.

The new video player is better than the old one but it's still pretty crap. The quality on "HD" mode is still not nearly as good as the downloads and I'm still getting random lag problems with it, though the stalling and cutoffs I used to get on the old site are gone at least.

Patrick is my favorite part of the site and I really enjoy him on the podcast. Hope this isn't just a slow exit.

Ryan Davis was on Idle Thumbs last week, which was like peanut butter and chocolate put together.

I. Do. Not. Like. Matt. Rorie. His. Jokes. Are. So. Lame. And. His. Personality. Does. Not. Fit. At. All. And. He. Is. Similar. To. Me. In. Cutting. His. Own. Hair. But. Makes. Us. All. Look. Bad. And. The. Same. For. Liking. Windows.

He's ok.....in small doses. He definitely seems out of his element there.

I know, he taught them how to be funny again! /trollface

Also yeah, Rorie always felt a little bit out of place, though it's nice to see someone there who likes real computers. /biggertrollface

I do hope the whole "Rorie uses a PC LOLZ" gag I've seen in some of their recent Unprofessional Fridays fades off though. Like a console war debate, it's kind of dumb and pointless.

I love the fact that they start out with Vinnie and his toy-based voice actor research / audition.

Now I've got "I am Rob, I like to race..." stuck in my head.
