Giant Bomb Bomb-All

I know it's not Giant Bomb but I'm listening to Waypoint Radio (only one to two degrees removed!) and finding myself very annoyed by Danica's verbal tick of repeating one word per sentence of whatever someone's saying when she's excited.

Honestly, it's stuff like that which really get my goat, more than the general attitude of people on any given podcast.

I have this exact same problem with her. It's like she's a hype man.

Was anyone else pretty disappointed with what they showed of Fortnite? When it was originally announced I was really hoping for a new era Left 4 Dead and got... what... Plants vs Zombies? I don't even know what that was.

This might be a situation where assumption leads to disappointment. It was never a co-op FPS. It's always been this building/surviving/traps type of game they've just been fine tuning it...for a very long time.

Department of new business sounds strong. Should really turn this company around.

Needing something to watch while I did stupid free to play stuff, I put on a kingdom hearts playthrough with Ben and Brad (it's fine). Ben mentioned something about a surgery?

So I googled.

I should have posted that when I heard him mention open heart surgery on a UPF a while back.

One of my family's closest friends had marfan as well. Looked a lot like Ben. I'm really glad that Ben has it monitored now because the later life stuff can be very scary (detached retinas, heart problems, limb amputation, etc.).

Brad mentioned coming up with a term for games in which the player shows up at a location that has been abandoned or depopulated due to some tragic event and then has to explore it and figure out what happened. I propose "shockvania".

As someone who was checked out as a possible edge case of Marfan syndrome (that then went reading possible complications of it before all the test results had come back) due to meeting several of the criteria, a family history of heart issues, and a fun experience with a spontaneous pneumothorax, or in layman's terms a random unprompted lung collapse at 3am while I was sleeping (Super fun way to wake up y'all) , sympathies to that dude cause man it can suuuuuuck.

Unfortunately our friend passed away on a motorcycle accident the day after his doctor gave him a clean bill of health. He was expected to live until 40 due to all of the health problems and made it to 45. It sounds like Ben has been managing his health a lot better and is aware of the complications.

Now I feel bad calling Ben my least favorite GB personality. But he is. He so is.

There's a podcast specifically for you.

The Exquisite Corps is my new favorite thing. So good. I hope that, a la The Run, they apply this to other games in the future as well--lots of good possibilities.

Re Episode 1 (not the prologue):

Spoiler:

I'm torn about whether they should make a second Abby. It is sad she died so quickly and needlessly! But it will be slightly less hilarious when main crewmembers die if they feel free to make an Abby Mark 2.

Watch the Murder Island 3000 about 1:08:00 in and with everyone talking about what look they find, Dan gets and SKS, then comes across a VSS and says NOTHING to the rest of his team and proceeds to take both. He makes me crazy. And he already has a chicken dinner!!! WHAT!!!! lol

Spoiler:

Ok I feel better. Dan proceeded to die without ever getting off a shot and in the best way. He ran up to try and grab a buggy and run away without getting Jeff up. What a tool.

Yeah, the Slime Rancher: Quick Look has convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ben is valuable get for GB.

I think this is the first QL I've seen with him in the pilot's seat and he handles it with a confident ease and quick wit. Looks like he's fitting in just fine.

On a side note, that QL totally sold me a copy of the game, LOL.

Huh, Dan acting like a selfish ass, go figure.

He did a QL for Mighty Gunvolt Burst that was pretty solid also.

I enjoyed people in the comments defending Dan's dirtbag play in PUBG (and it isn't even fun-to-watch dirtbag play) because he's won two games. I've won 12 in about 50 more rounds, more solos than he's won any. I'm distinctly below-average at the game. "Count the rings" doesn't even mean anything.

Murder Island needs more of Dan getting team killed with no warning. That's always entertaining.

We have to trust this guy because he has 12 rings.

Podcast listeners should check out the 1099 podcast that has had a pretty long string of interviews with Giant bomb people. They are individual interviews, but I have found them to be a joy to listen to.

I also liked the Dave Lang episode, and it made me wish we got less Chuckle-f*ck Dave Lang on Giant Bomb content.

This season of Alt/Shift-F1 has been really sad for me because the guys' travel schedules means more than half the episodes have had Dave Lang co-hosting.

This is indeed criminal and has taken Shift F1 down quite a few notches in my "must listen when new" list of podcasts.

I still listen ASAP to keep up with the season's news, but cringe when I find out it's a Lang episode.

Yeah, as much as I love both of those guys I wish they could find a different host and then have that person coordinate with finding a second when neither of them are available, and just have a 3 person episode when they are both available.

I put it at 50/50 that they just cancel the podcast after this year given the incompatibility of their new gigs and a podcast like that.

I really hope they don't. That podcast got me into F1, and it's been a great companion. I don't wanna find a new one.

In more sad news, I'm trying to watch the latest Murder Island, and it won't load the video.

The Murder Island streams are making me hate Dan.

Finally listed Exquisite Corps episode 2 for Monday. I fear they made this weekly because they fully wiped inside of a few hours. If not, hopefully they'll start putting these out more frequently.

I know I'm beating a horse that has since turned to ash and dust, but by god are these guys astoundingly terrible at video games it is a struggle to watch sometimes. The only part that gets me through is the relief that while I am really bad, I could be much worse.

Two minutes into the last Kingdom Hearts video, Ben fails miserably at the tutorial race for the fourth time as he tries to jump at a cliff edge way too high for him, and then complains that he thought he could make that jump. The same type of jump he tried to do over and over and over again in the last video, with it clearly not working every single time, leaving me baffled what made him think that. This is going to be a long playthrough.

I was grinding my teeth pretty hard at that section too. I'm not sure if that was real incompetence or faked, but either way, it was painful to watch.

It's a battle between what is discussed most in this thread. Giantbomb being terrible at games or everyone hating Dan.
