I've filled in your missing #2. I think staying in a castle is just slightly more popular than it.

Edited.

The more I am thinking about this castle, the more excited I get. Never before in my life yet I've had a chance to trash a hotel room castle chamber, or to pay iron price for a hotel towels!

I am greatly enjoying the "Love Castles, Hate Ohio" theme of this thread. I knew there was a reason I joined this community.

Are dungeon rooms availible?

Yep. With pillories for the head board and foot board on the bed.

You know what? If operating it as a regular old hotel doesn't work, there is definitely a market for this niche.

You might have to relocate it to Canada, though.

So when will you be transitioning into learning to brew mead?

I figured I'd trick Boogle into coming out for RavenCon, then chain him in the Dungeon until he teaches me his mead brewing secrets.

And yes, a full line of Raven's Brew is indeed in planning.

No, no, not the comfy chair!

And here I thought I was the mead brewer.

Do you have any plans for castle theatre? I have a family friend who was flown to switzerland to perform.

I wonder if you could make money renting it out for weddings. Do you know if the current owners currently use weddings as a source of income?

I guess a google should have been in order. I just assumed the previous owner was not running the place well and that was why he bought it.

*edit* a much better website is needed to draw non-Ohio people to visit.

*Edit* *edit* The hocking hills state park alone makes me want to come and visit. I like my hiking in BC, but some variety is in order.

Murder mystery weekends can be fun, too. There's a B&B near here that hires actors and hosts weekend-long murder mystery parties. It would also be a great zombie apocalypse stronghold. Just saying.

While I respect your prowess Wordy, there was a need for further review. I took this opportunity to correct the oversight and add a point to the list.

Indeed, castle theater is something on our minds. Would love to chat with your friend about it at some point. And we do handle weddings, though as you mention the previous owner's handling of it - while exceptional in many ways - does leave room for us to make changes and hopefully improvements. Including the website As for Hocking Hills itself, it's sheer awesomeness on a (hiking) stick. That's what's kept us going back for the last fifteen years.

Indeed, indeed! They've done a random murder mystery here and there, but we intend to make it a regular staple. I'm working on the zombie apocalypse side of things too, but that's a different thread :0

This is a good point, will you be living on site?
The grounds look amazing. I hope you also bought a gardener!

Two other quick announcements re: the castle.

First, the logo contest is starting to gain some entries. LogoMyWay has a feature where you can allow friends and family to check out the entries and rate those they like, acting as a sort of focus group. We'd love to have your input. The contest just finished its first day, with six days to go. Please feel free to head over here and let us know what you like.

Second, thanks for all the suggestions re: having PenCon at the castle. I think I can speak for Oily when I say we both greatly appreciate the interest and excitement, and would love to be able to make that happen. We've discussed it quite a bit, and unfortunately it looks like it's probably not going to work this year for a couple of reasons. We'll spend some more time working on the obstacles (our offices are about 50 feet apart, so collaboration isn't difficult), and we'll see what we can come up with.

But fret not.

Even if it's not at Ravenwood Castle, there will be a PenCon - and it will be awesome.

Likewise. But first, I now have a reason to learn where Ohio even is.

Congrats, Teneman! A man's home may be his castle, but f*ck that guy, your castle is your home!

RE: Slogan - Personally, I'd drop the "come" so it goes from "Leave The Hassle, Come Stay In Our Castle" to "Leave The Hassle, Stay In Our Castle" as I think it flows better.

Some interesting designs, it's a pity my favorite logo doesn't have a castle in it.

Looking at your #1 ranked(I like it best too) I think there's an extra word in your logo scroll.

There is, he added an "Our" that doesn't belong. We've commented him on it. I love the idea of that logo on a hat or mug, fits really nicely.

Belated congratulations, Teneman, on this truly fantastic adventure! I'm insanely jealous of you right now.

Or drop the "Stay". No, wait. That's not quite right.

Change "Stay In" to "Come To" -- it becomes "Leave The Hassle. Come To Our Castle!"

I agree with the suggestion to drop "Come" from the "Come stay in our castle" part of the slogan. It sounds too long with it (if you decide to use that slogan).

This is also a good suggestion, as "Come to" works well against "Leave". That said, "Stay in" works well to let people know that the castle is an inn, and they can stay there, whereas "Come to" might imply that it's just a place to visit for a while, like a tourist attraction. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I'm sure Teneman will have the gift shop stocked.

"Come and put on your Robe and Wizard Hat."

This just means there's two accessible GWJ gatherings for me this year. A-ok with that.

No Robe, No Wizard Hat, No Service.

Teneman, does the castle have any secret rooms? Man, it's gotta have some secret rooms.

I think the only possible way this could be cooler would be if you were to buy a castle on top of a massive underground bunker of some kind, perhaps a missile silo.

You asked and so you shall have it.

Congratulations on the castle! And all the logos look really great! I would most certainly travel to Ohio if it meant staying in a castle for a goojer event.
