NCAA12 GWJ2STAR -- Bowls: Leroy's Shame

Western Michigan falls to West Virgina 34-43. The Western offense had a terrible day on the field the running game was sh*t down and couldn't generate any momentum and really the passing game struggled with droped passes and constant pressure from the D-Line. The Western Defense was not much better with missed tackles and at least 5 dropped interceptions that could have made a big difference in the game. The one turnover they did get was with West Virgina pinned deep on their own 3 yard line a fumbled pitch on an option run was recovered and returned for a TD. The one real shining spot was the Western return game with a big 93 yard kickoff return followed by Drake's 10 TD run of the season brought WMU within 3 early in the game but was never able to take a lead.

I hear you – dropped passes and blown tackles have been the story of my season so far.

On HvH games my secondary is getting almost 5 picks a game. But against the AIits like the gloves are made of butter.

Firesloth, looks like you and me this week. Are you available either Tuesday or Wednesday? I should be able to get a game in, I apologize in advance if my daughter is fussy and I have to last minute cancel. The good news is I was able to play Shag last week with just 1 short interruption. I may have to pause from time to time, unless she's asleep.

Also, for now, I am probably going sans mic when I play my HvH games, so if I don't pop on, it's nothing personal, I'm just trying not to wake up my daughter

Kush – Any chance Thursday is good? I'll see what I can do to get together earlier. I've got a preliminary date ( ) with Leroy to play our game from the other dynasty on Tuesday. Perhaps we can squeeze in a game before or after. Wednesday I've got frisbee to play.

Look at the Rice/Baylor box score. Baylor RB says it all with broken tackles.

I'm fine with Thursday, any time after 10pm EST (I have flag football on Thurs, we're (0-5), playing the 1st place team, should be fun!!!!).

Nice!

Yeah, I'm really only available after 10 pm anyway. My oldest son just doesn't need much sleep, somehow, so he's often up until 9:30 or later...

I just noticed that I am (0-4), but have not played a Conference game yet. I HAVE SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR!!!!!!!

Texas sneaks out a win against CMU 38-35. Had two huge drops in the red zone, one would have been a TD but I had to settle for a FG. Blast it.

Eff me....I think my game froze when I exited.

Or not, I can still access the dashboard...but the game isn't moving.

/sigh, I let it sit for 5 minutes and then exited to the dashboard

I played my game against EMU....seems neither teams defense really showed up....final score 75-47 Marshall wins the shootout.

I should be on at 10, but if it's later, I apologize. That said, I should still be able to go at 10pm EST tonight.

Hey, I probably can't get on until about 10:30 pm. Should be good after that.

No problem, I just saw this. See you then.

Looks like my loss to Texas didn't register so i'm going to just sim my game. I'm sure the AI Texas can handle the AI Central

Colorado St. bests Temple 27-10. Much closer than the score indicates. The game was tied up after 3 quarters in a defensive struggle.

The difference in the game was the turnovers by Temple and some big plays that I lucked into on offense in the 4th quarter. The total yardage was 269-260 or some such, and time of possession was within ~2 min of each other.

I'm down to my 2nd string HB, and he went out several times during the game...I have a feeling this is going to be a long season for my running game. There's a huge drop off from #2 to #3.

Kush is listed as not ready, but it looks like he's recruited. I think we're ready to roll.

Yeah, definitely ready. Firesloth, great game. I had a ton of momentum early, up 7-0 and with the ball, when I decided to throw the ball to your team and let them run it back, lol. Down by 7 in the 4th, I called an all out blitz, and your RB just had to get to the 2nd level, and there was no one to catch him.

Going for (0-12), so I can get that #1 draft pick................oh wait, wrong game

BTW, never knew the "ice the kicker" worked that way, that was pretty cool, I'm lucky I made that FG, lol. Very nice stop on that draw play to hold me to 3 points at the end of the half.

Given how efficient your first drive was, I felt very lucky to be down only 3 at half. I would have felt good about only being down 10 if you had scored a TD. The defense on both teams won the middle two quarters.

It was fun - the game definitely felt like a strategic chess match.

Hrm.... Wonder if I can roll from my phone

If you don't have a crappy phone...

I'm sure I could do it if the video of that stupid interception didn't get in the way. I'm at the brewery now so when I get home.

Lame.

Holy. F*ck. If this were a real game, this would have been touted as the Most. Exciting. Football. Game. Evar. EVERR!

CSU defeats NMSU 48-47.

There were 31 points scored in the second quarter (two CSU TDs in the last minute) and 33 in the 4th quarter (two CSU TDs in the last 1:13 after an onside kick!). There were two INTs returned for TDs, a kickoff return for a TD, three rushing TDs of at least 60 yards, forced fumbles on a power sweep and on a kickoff return, and a recovered onside kick that set-up the game-winning 50 yard TD bomb.

CSU took the lead with 0:37 left before the half and finally with 0:48 left before the end of the game. Crazy.

Highlights:

*CSU dominates the opening drive of the game, going about 70 yards for a TD and taking almost 4 minutes off the clock.

*However, in the 2nd, NMSU comes back with 17 unanswered points. On the second TD run, I read the play perfectly as an OLB. However, the NMSU FB noticed me squirt through the line, cut off his outside block and just destroyed me, clearing the path for the score. (See video.)

*Just when it looks like CSU is going to go into the half down by at least 17-7, the NMSU QB throws a pick-6, bringing me to within 3 points with 0:54 left in the half.

*On the subsequent kickoff, my guys force a fumble on a devastating hit (the defender ran untouched through the blockers and just nailed the guy). One play later, CSU scores a TD to take the lead (with the TE getting clobbered as he caught the score! see video). So, in about 10 sec of game time, I scored 14 points.

*NMSU takes the opening drive of the second half for a TD...in 2 plays. They scored on a 61 yard run.

*Down 24-21 midway through the 3rd, CSU throws a pick-6 (~55 yards for a TD). My pain didn't last too long, since I ran the ensuing kickoff back 88 yards for a TD.

*I throw an ugly INT as I'm driving down the field in the first 1:30 of the 4th quarter. NMSU gets down to the 1 yard line, but I knock their QB out of the game with a concussion on a safety blitz that sacks him back at the 8 yard line.

*However, no one told me that his backup was Joe F*cking Montana, who came in to throw two TD passes in two minutes. (See video.)

*Down 40-28 with 4:27 left in the game, I go for it on 4th-and-2 from the CSU 37. My running back takes the power play and goes untouched for a 63 yard TD (see video)!

*On the next drive, NMSU has 3rd-and-10, and Joe Montana heaves a pass 47 yards into triple coverage...but it's caught by his WR that jumps about 7 feet into the air. NMSU scored 3 plays later to go up 47-35 with 3:10 left in the game.

*CSU, in trying to catch up late in the 4th, turns the ball over on downs. I force a 3-and-out, but use up all their time outs. In the subsequent drive, I manage to score a TD with 1:13 left on the clock after two long ~25 yard pass plays and two short power runs up the middle.

*Then I managed (somehow) to recover an onside kick and throw a 50 yard bomb for a TD with 0:48 left on the clock. On that play there were *3* CSU receivers in the endzone surrounding one defender!! (See video.)

The NMSU back-up QB ended up 6-10, 88 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs. Their starter wasn't bad, either, with 20-33, 256 yards, but 0 TDs and 2 INTs. The NMSU HB had 204 yards rushing on 16 carries! (Ugh.) NMSU had 526 yards of offense. Ugh.

While he didn't catch a pass in the first half, the CSU TE ended the game with 6 catches for 102 yards and a TD. He was awesome down the stretch. The player of the game was (evidently) the CSU HB who had 119 yards rushing on 22 carries. The TE or QB should have won that honor.

The bad news? Isn't NMSU about the worst team in all of college football??

This game needed about 10 highlight slots.

Western Michigan get a huge upset win over Connecticut 48-42. I never trailed in the game taking an arly 10-0 lead and never looking back. Tevin Drake really powered my offense touching the ball 26 times rushing for 328 yards and 4TD's with 3 70+ yard runs and 2 cathes for 91 yards including a 77 yard screen pass for a touchdown. Connecticut's offense kept things cose staying with 10 points most of the game but they abandoned the run early in the game and threw the ball 46 times for over500 yards and 4 TD's. My defense was able to get a interception this game and on a few drives able to get the Huskies into 3rd and long forcing long passes either being broken up or droped short of the first down marker. At the the end though the Huskies were able to recover an onside kick but by this point I had a 13 point lead and played mostly a prevent defense just killing clock and forcing them to run a no huddle. I would have uploaded highlights but I ended up forgetting about them after looking at the stats for the game.

Also as a side note. I was surprised to see I have the nations top QB for passing yards and top RB for rushing yards at least untill the rest of the games are played.

CMU wins 45-25. Northern Illinois couldn't get much going until it was too late.
