Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Catch-All – Shepards with Jobs

I was going to be good and try to clear some games off my pile before picking this up, but I just couldn't wait.

I think you'd be much more likely to get into games by posting your Origin ID.

I'm enjoying the mutilplayer more than I thought. I'll probably play it for a while, at least until my galaxy is ready.

I was really skeptical how powerful a Pistol Vanguard can be. I started to see the point once I got around to level 10 and now at level 18 I'm doing extremely well. I have a lot of trouble against Brutes and a few other heavy hitters. Most guys like Geth leaders and Phantoms I can stunlock with melee attacks. With brutes I seem to get unlucky and get instant killed fairly often -- probably need to be a lot more cautious and focus on the other little guys first.

And then the problem so far is not having good gear. I'm still stuck with a level 3 pistol with just a lvl 2 scope mod, while everything else is level 5 and decked with some fairly advanced mods

Feel free to add me, my Origin ID is MotleyAi

I don't normally play multiplayer shooters since I have awful twitch reflexes (I couldn't snipe my way out of a paper bag) but I'm loving the engineer and the adept. Aiming? What's that?

It's been mentioned, but it really feels good to only run with a pistol on those classes since you have almost no downtime between powers. Might have to have a bit of a play with only running with a single other gun though... a few nasty encounters with phantoms have got me thinking wistfully about shotguns.

If any Aussie/SEA goodjers are up for some MP, let me know! Origin ID is SonicatorGWJ.

For Brutes, charge, nova, then roll out while you recharge (just a sec if you've leveled correctly), then charge again and repeat. Obviously you might not want to do it if there's a mob around the Brute.

I only have one gun on those classes, but I prefer it be a SMG or AR--nothing absurd, mind, usually a Locust or at heaviest an Avenger. I screwed it up this time, but in the demo I had an Asari build that had +200% recharge with an Avenger--the one I have now, alas, is +166%, but I don't feel that's too much difference. Of course, I also only have the starter pistol.

Lag is another problem with Vanguards. A lot of the class's survivability has to do with Charging to restore the barrier. I've found out a couple times that sometimes I try to charge and nothing happens or I glitch out and fall outside the map.

I was thinking about how when I ran into Phantoms in the SP, they ain't sh*t. I'm sure many will lecture about how that reflects lazy design or some such, but I think it's a very wry and clever way to show that while they remain not sh*t to Shepard, they do actually demolish entire squads, and this his how the average soldier experiences them. Since, I've decided the entire MP thing is how the average soldier experiences everything--being sent off, ill-equipped, under the leadership someone you swear sounds like they're 14, being called a lot of names over your headset while you notice that your entire squad are Adepts just because someone likes Adepts, praying you won't run into the geth. It amuses me.

I still haven't gotten a pistol other than the starter. That one's upgraded all the way to V, but it won't give me another one. I have like six assault rifles, six sniper rifles, six shotguns, five SMG's, and... one pistol.

And the last two Spectre packs I've bought have given me capacity upgrades on things like ammo packs, and I can carry a third missile for the launcher now, but it won't give me the guns I really want for anything.

I keep getting the same sh*t.

Here are my last several Vet packs, although these were in mixed order:
3 Turian Sentinels.
3 Phaestons.
2 Quarian Infiltrators.
2 Drell Adepts.
2 Turian Soldiers.
A shotgun (I forget which)

Can I please have a damned Asari?! Are they only in Spectre packs or something?

Really, an extra stripe on my existing characters uniform is in no way comparable to a new race/class. Ugh.

Yeah, that Pistol Vanguard is all kinds of fun. I still suck at it (ask Steele and Thin J how many times they had to pick my sorry ass up this afternoon), but it's finally given me a way to enjoy a class that was previously completely out of my wheelhouse.

Of course, it does have some serious shortcomings when dealing with armored targets (too bad none of the Vanguard loadouts include warp), although I if I could ever get a freaking Carnifex or Paladin that would be much less an issue. Other than that, pretty much any other enemy is easy pickings (especially if you use the Asari and you can use Stasis to lock down shielded/barriered enemies).

I'm at the point where I just save up for the Spectre packs and forget about the other two. You might want to try that.

I've been using the Human Adept, spamming the singularity/warp combo and sporting an assault rifle (Avenger, I think). Aside from having a blast with him, it's made me want to go back and really give the Adept a try in the single player campaign. I have high hopes for a full ME 1-3 run with a pure Adept.

where i got mine...

It is kinda weird. They said they were upping the drop rate in demo and that would be in the release game. But they didn't have Spectre packs in the demo. So...

Playing with pubs is ok, but looking to play with goodjers. Add me on Origin: EKastel

I need a link to your profile.

I played some MP these last two days, it's a bit tough. How do you unlock new weapons? I keep buying packs and nothing really new comes and I am level 20 already. Also, does buying one pack overwrite another if you haven't used everything it got you?

Also, this P2P lag is so annoying.

The veteran or spectre packs are your best chances at getting new weapon or character unlocks. If you haven't used everything in a pack, they just stack up. However, you can only use a certain amount each time you play a map.

At some point you supposedly get bonuses to carrying too, so you can have an extra missile launcher or medigel or something. I haven't seen any of those yet.

I know you were sad about the drops. Have you beat anything on Gold yet? I'm wondering if you get anything special for doing that. I imagine it's just more credits, though.

My last spectre pack gave me a third missile for the launcher.

Invite sent! Be sure to spam all the Origin IDs with friend requests. That's the easiest way to find people. We haven't been using the Steam Group yet for scheduling. I imagine that we'll use it later on when less people are playing.

By the way, guys, playing MP with the Mass Effect 3 (and the others) soundtracks playing is a pretty good experience.

Yeah lately there are enough people on for 2 or 3 gwj-only private games. I usually PM a person or two on Origin to see if their game is full and if so I start one up myself, spam 10 invites, and the game is full in a minute or two.

I'm on the spreadsheet. Can someone send me an invite to the group?
