Hmm, ok. Well I'll see how I go with Carnage and Silver. Really want to get my coinage so I can buy some more Spectre packs.
Has anyone tried an Adept on Silver? I'm a little hesitant about trying it (really hitting my stride on bronze), but I'm kinda curious.
unless i put it up and make it take up half a screen i cant see msgs that pop up... they just create a new tab and you never see them
Hopefully better luck on the next round. Still no Asari for me, after dozens of Vet packs and 3 Spectres now. Oddly enough I've gotten more duplicates of the 4 race/classes I do have unlocked than races total. 2-5 of each that I've already got.
Nope. Another spectre and vet pack tonight, and another yellow rare weapon I already had and two more classes I already have. Ugh!

I'm currently trying to make it work. Asari adept, lvl 14 with sniper and pistol. Not working out so well so far.

You're doing it wrong then. Pistol only, 200% recharge, statis/warp the sh*t out of everything. It's practically easy mode.
Sadly I can't get the damn lucky number to get me an Asari. But oh man in the demo it was like god mode.

But when you get a weapon you already have it just upgrades it to the next level with more damage etc. So it's not too bad. Assuming you actually are using that weapon. I received 3 Avengers and I only use sniper rifles, so it's not that effective for me.

How about singularity/warp combo? That's how I'm rolling right now.
Hey I just had a few good games with Titanis and Gunner. Thanks everyone...sorry I don't have a mic. I'll just say that I hate banshees.
The powers that be are playing with me. I just want a new gun, any gun. Stop giving me character unlocks.
OK, I think I'm far enough in SP to give this thing a whirl. I dread the reactions to my poor performance until I level up a bit.

Yeah that was quite fun. Surprised they managed to implement this mode so well. Will definitely be back for more.
Not so sure about the Infiltrator though. I was going around with the bolt action sniper rifle mostly and felt pretty ineffective. Cryo blast is pretty fun though, so maybe I'll try switching the weapons up a bit.
I think just about every class can transition to Silver fine, at least with certain Power/Weapon combos. The only one I'm not so sure about making that statement for is the Human Vanguard - Novaspam goes from amazing in Bronze to much more dangerous in Silver. You have to learn to restrain yourself and use your weapon more.

I thought you played pretty damn well in the match you had with us. If you're that good with a level 1 character on your first MP mission, I think you'll be fine.
There was this Drell vanguard in one of my games that pretty much cleaned up 90% of all the mobs on the level. He had leveled some of the combo bonuses where there's a chance of not getting a cool down on some of the skills so he would charge-nova-charge or charge-charge-nova and everything would die. Only a few times he was down, his score was about ~70-80k at the end of the level.

Thanks. I'm just sorry I had to quit early and without warning because my mic wasn't working.
Oh, and it was a bit weird in the beginning not having Nova on 2 like on my SP keybinds. Mashing an empty power slot doesn't do much damage.
Anyone else having problems with their friends list loading in Origin? I can play multiplayer just fine, provided I only want to play with pubbies. Boo!
I played a bit with some of the other GWJers last night. It was fortunate that we were on Bronze, because I still don't really know what I'm doing.
I was playing an Asari Vanguard, since I got the card twice in my first few packs and it became my highest level character. I played vanguard through ME1 and ME2, but it turns out that I didn't really know what I was doing in ME2, and that continues. I didn't realize until this morning that I can detonate stasis with a charge or a lift grenade. Oops.
Also, I picked up an Arc Pistol. What's that good for?
FYI, the Reset Powers card is rare but it's not THE rare you get from your pack. When I got mine, I also got an uncommon mod and a rare weapon in the same pack (Spectre pack).

The Asari Adept is extremely useful on Silver, as is the Asari Vanguard, especially against Cerberus. Max out Stasis with the Bubble upgrade, travel light, and you can spend the entire round pinning enemies down for your teammates. Stasis makes Guardians drop their shields and is one of the most reliable ways to stop a Phantom.
As for armament, I was messing around with that last night, trying to find the best weapon for my Asari Adept to carry. I tried the Arc Pistol for a while (great for freezing an enemy with Stasis and then executing them with a charged headshot) but didn't like how much it slowed down my power recharge. Then for a kick, I took a look at assault rifles. My Asari Adept can carry my Avenger IX and still maintain a +200% power recharge rate.
So if you're looking for something light to pack, always take a look at the Avenger.
I prefer my Asari Adept by now. Stasis is pretty sweet, if only it worked on the tougher enemies like Brutes or Banshees. Also don't get why CerbGuardians are immune to it. But it's nice (and safer) to have the option of containing an enemy or Charging and faceshooting him.
Cerberus Guardians are immune to it because it hits their shield. Upgrade it to Bubble and it'll freeze the Guardian and cause him to drop the shield entirely.

Drell Vanguards do not have nova.

I have seen this more than once in my silver matches. Human vanguards are just a liability at the upper levels. I have yet to see one that really works well at that level.

Yeah, I played a Silver round last night with two Vanguards, as a Quarian Infiltrator. We pulled it off, but I spent a lot of time playing Invisible Medic.
Then Hypatian did a biotic charge that split time and space and spent half the round jittering uncontrollably between dimensions, which I thought was kind of funny.

Honest question here, but what makes them such a liability at the higher levels? I have a level 17 (almost 18) human Vanguard and am beginning to worry that I spent time on the wrong character.
I do agree with what everyone has been saying about people being too reckless with the human Vanguard, resulting in a lot of deaths, but I want to believe that is a result of play style, and not inherent faults with the class. Last night, I played (on silver) with a human Vanguard who rolled with just a pistol and was zipping all over the place and Nova-ing up a storm. While he did score a lot of kills, he was dying a lot. I would like to believe that it is this play style that gives human Vanguards the bad wrap.
I usually roll with just an Avenger (MK 1; no luck on upgrading it yet), and try to be selective on what targets I go after with Charge. On Bronze, I usually don't have to worry too much about what I Charge into, but on Silver I found I have to be selective. Contrary to what other Vanguards believe, jumping into a cluster of guys (on Silver) and Nova-ing is not a recipe for success. What works for me is to strip away shields with my assault rifle on select targets, then Charge, then Nova to clean up, then possibly Charge again to restore shields. I find I have success in stunning Phantoms in close quarters with Charge and a Nova. This gives my teammates a chance to back pedal and lay into the Phantom. I find the stun property on Charge useful for enemies like that. As well, if my teammates can keep a Brute distracted, I usually sneak up on him, Nova, Charge, and Nova again to get some respectable armor damage against it.
Picked up the pistol/shotgun last night! It's like the best of everything with a scope on it.
We did really well on silver with two Vanguards last night. One would charge, nova, the other would charge, nova, then the first again. It was a slaughter.
Also my human Vanguard has Nova upgraded so that you can use Nova twice in a row because it only uses 50% of the barrier up. After charge, nova, nova, then charge is ready again and that puts your barrier back to full. Yes we were charging Atlas-es on Silver.
Only problem was when we mucked up the timing and the Atlas grabbed one of us for one-hit-kills.
Good games tonight Rallick. I definitely prefer playing with GWJers instead of pubbies.
Unlocked 2 Spectre cases now. 1 had the Krogan soldier in it, the other had a Geth assault rifle. Neither of which my sniper rifle wielding infiltrator really care for. Ah well.

It is exactly the jump that you did that most people do not do when playing the class. Perhaps of all the class/race combos, the tactics and thought required at the upper levels for H Vanguards are just radically different for most players, and they can not make the jump.
In a sense, it is a design problem, but not even close to a fatal one, because the powers lend themselves so well to one form of play and then punishes the player perusing that type of play.

Is that thing a rare or uncoomon?
BTW, I wish I could exchange weapon packs for medijel.
Dr. J, some people consider Vanguards to be liabilities because enemies hit hard on Silver and Vanguards have a tendency to put themselves directly into the middle of a group of enemies, where they promptly die and are impossible to revive. They can stun phantoms, but if for whatever reason they fail (like they hit the wrong target, or cover, or if there's another phantom), they are dead. I've heard a lot of complaints from the newly deceased that, "my charge wouldn't go off," which as a long-time Vanguard player myself I'm quite sure is absolutely true. But whereas that skill failure prevents them from extricating themselves from danger, other classes don't need to thrust themselves into danger in the first place.
As with all classes (except maybe the Sentinel ), they can be very useful when played well, and far be it from me to tell people what they can and can't roll with. I've seen good Vanguard players do excellent work and have been glad to have them along. I've also found myself wishing they'd played something that can do their job from a safe distance and behind cover.

The wiki says the M-358 Talon is N7 rarity (a level above Rare), sadly.

Geth Assault Rifle's a good weapon for a Krogan Soldier...

I agree somewhat. The devs have always described the Vanguard as high risk/high reward class, and I think a lot of people forget about the first part of that statement. Just because I can charge into a group of guys and pull off an area of effect attack, doesn't mean I always should. I think the risk part of "high risk/high reward" increases quite a bit when you move up in the difficulty levels, and people seem to forget that. The Krogan melee attack is quite powerful, but it is still suicide for them to charge into a pack of guys on Silver difficulty hoping to back hand them into next week. Unfortunately, like you said, the Vanguard's powers tend to entice people to Charge right in and Nova up a storm.
I think more people need to calm down on the Charge and Nova combo. Use it to take down stragglers, or stun/interrupt lone high value targets only after you have stripped their shields and are susceptible to it. Vanguards are glass cannons (don't think there is any real "tank" class in the game anyways) and should learn to apply burst damage in situations where the risk to them is lowered.
