I don't see the convenience of getting a Collector SMG. :(

Its not too horrid...sortof anyway...if you use the attachments that give a bigger clip and makes every 3rd shot free(I think thats what it does anyway) its not overly bad so long as its not your only gun.

But I already have like 9 guns that fit that description.....

For those discussing the Harrier: it is easily the best gun in the game. When you put it on the Turian Infiltrator, the strongest class, good things happen.

I've actually been using the Collector SMG quite a bit lately and found that I like it. its got a decent clip, good fire rate, decent enough damage, and is very accurate. Been using it with a salarian engineer with pretty good results.

New hazard maps available this week are Firebase Glacier and Firebase Ghost

Vorcha Hunter Engineer kit now available as a new Rare card

XP and Score Rewards (applies to points earned for Challenges)
- XP/Score bonus on Gold difficulty increased from 40% to 60%
- XP/Score bonus on Platinum difficulty increased from 60% to 100%

Shield Gate
- Cooldown between getting shield gates decreased from 4 to 3 seconds, meaning you have to wait
less time before you get your shield gate back.

Objectives
- Decreased the chance that enemies will spawn close to annex objectives

Challenges
- Fixed an issue causing the Turian Soldier challenge to give too many notifications

Objectives
- Decreased the chance that enemies will spawn close to annex objectives

If this means no more Rocket Troopers jumping up on the landing platform while the defend objective is on the landing platform, Thank God.

The random number gods smiled on me last night. I bought a single PSP and got a Volus Adept and Volus Engineer

Vorcha Engineer, eh? I imagine that involves a lot of hissing and hitting things with wrenches.

Yeah really. Vorcha wouldn't exactly be my first choice when my expensive space tech breaks down. toaster maybe. ship reactor? No sir, I'll stick with a species that doesn't look like a Nosferatu thank you very much.

Anyone tried the solo mastery accomplishments yet? I managed to solo a gold yesterday, but platinum looks like it'll take some serious planning.

Oh what class and what enemy?

I had almost managed a silver one before the challenges (wave 7 or something) but haven't tried since.

New weekend challenge:

Operation: GEARHEAD (Nov. 16th – 18th)

Event Description: Intel reveals that hostile forces are targeting our technical experts to damage our strategic capabilities. They must fail at this! Keep our people alive and inflict disproportionate losses wherever the enemy attempts this tactic.

Individual Goal: Earn 75,000 points as any engineer class and extract 3 times as any engineer class on any map at any difficulty. Points are cumulative across matches.

Reward: Commendation Pack

Really, kind of annoying to me, because this means two weekend events in a row featuring the class I don't really care about, and have no extra characters unlocked in.

IMO, the Human Engineer is one of the singly best classes in the game; Overload kills shields and stuns, Incinerate eats armor and sets off tech explosions from Overload, and Combat Drone is a great distraction. I've probably logged more time in that kit than any other. I've promoted Infiltrators more than Engineers, but been more diverse in the kits for that group. I recently unlocked the Volus Engineer (which is hi-la-ri-ous), so I'm more than happy to log some more Engineer time.

I've been meaning to log some engineer time anyway, to rack up a bit more Tech Mastery. Alas, I've done all the easy stuff, now it's time to pick a drone, or do the tech armor challenge, or the like.

I finally finally got the Slayer and the Shadow N7 classes. I'm not very good with either, but I think they're damn fun.

Oooh, the tech armor challenge was shockingly fun. Play on Bronze, just tear around the map blowing up your armor. I did it in I think two matches.

Krogan murdertrain vs. Geth (zero chance of sync kills!). Standard build with zero points in carnage. Reegar X with Incendiary IV ammo, Cyclonic IV, Shotgun Amp III, Stronghold Package V. Piece of cake, although kiting primes around takes a while -- about 50 minutes on FB Giant.

Gonna try vs. Reapers with a Turian Ghost Infiltrator / Harrier build next, but I'm not sure how viable it'll be on platinum, as I only have a Harrier III.

They buffed the drone a little while ago. The human engineer is actually pretty strong now.

People have to keep in mind that soloing is partially just luck, esp. with the objective rounds. I failed a solo on Bronze not too long ago. I had to hit the four objective points, and for the last one the enemies were spawning right next to it faster than I could download or whatever (hold A). Nothing to do about it, not a skill issue. Just luck.

I use a similar build but I pack a Scimitar with bayonet and armor piercing and a Phalanx pistol for when objectives force me into ranged encounters. That keeps my cooldown at +200%, which lets me take out Primes without kiting. I just do two heavy melees followed by a charge over and over. My charge has the increased impact area and full shield regen so it keeps me alive and takes care of any other enemies that get too close.

I got 4 disables on wave 6 and again on 10. It wasn't too bad since I was on Giant and could kite a huge robot horde around the map -- Get are slow -- but I'm super glad I didn't get the centre hack spot at any point. I am horrible at solo hack.

I couldn't get a melee build to work very well, but I'm pretty sure I forgot about the shotgun bayonet. At 50%, that's a huge boost!

Honestly I think it would work even without the bayonet. The key is really the cooldown speed. As long as you can keep charging, you can wrestle with him all day long.

The problem is when you have two primes (and their accompanying toys) along with a gang of pyros and other mooks all blasting away at you. Under the right circumstances, they can definitely kill you dead between charges. A few bombers, particularly on Gold, can hit you with some massive burst damage if they get their timing aligned.

How did you get 200% cooldown while using the bayonet? It adds 50% to weapon weight, if I recall correctly. I could only get to 180% with the Disciple.

I use the old-style bayonet with only +25% melee damage and no penalty, and I find that the pyros aren't too big of an issue since the impacts from charging will stagger and eventually kill them. Throw in a second prime and couple bombers on gold and yeah, you're probably going to need to be a little more careful. On the other hand, that kind of situation is why you get missiles.

Also, a tip for saving missiles: there is a hard cap on how much can get thrown on you in each wave. So rather than missiling dual primes on sight, which will probably just spawn another pair if it's the beginning of a wave, run away and save them for last. If they're still together when you can't find any more little guys, then yeah, maybe missile. (If you're lucky, maybe they'll have split up by then.)

Personally, I've been using a Wraith for my Kroguard solos. A much-maligned gun, but its combo of low weight and decent firepower means shooting is actually a decent option alongside Charge and melee.

So I actually played multiplayer tonight. Haven't played in about 3 months maybe? That was surprisingly fun. Tried out the new Cerberus Harrier and holy crap, everything is different. They've even changed some of the maps! And collectors! Even new enemies. I'm actually really impressed.

But I'm confused about these challenge thingies... what are they? Do they do anything?

They're like achievements/gamerscore within the game. If you finish a category of challenges, you get a lobby banner, which . . . does nothing. Seriously, nothing at all, yet I keep playing. I do like the challenges in that they force you to play outside your comfort zone; I did the shotgun one, and, after having been firmly convinced I hated the Disciple and Graal, I was surprised to find out I liked them both in the right situation. It's definitely hooked me into the game again.

Also, Valiant VII. Still haven't gotten a Saber.

Purely cosmetic. Your new second e-peen number goes up, and you get a banner to put behind your name in the lobby for every big set you complete. No actual credits etc. reward.

They are a handy reflection of you experience that doesn't depend on deploying your level 20s. There were some real jerks out there for a while, refusing to play with anyone who hadn't traded in a million characters for galactic readiness, but I see almost none of that anymore, because everyone can see the Lvl 120 guy also has a thousand challenge points, so he can't be that much of an albatross.

And, like BS said, they give a good excuse to try guns and classes you may have written off, or just don't use because you have better. I had a really great time with the Asari Justicar the other night.

Oh, yes, don't get me wrong, I love the challenges and banners. They've really suck(er)ed me in. Just saying, if anyone was thinking you got items for them, adjust expectations.

Ok, good to know. So this weekend challenge thingie... 75K points with engi... easy? I may try today and see if I can get it. Still can't get over how awesome that Harrier is though. So what is the best weapon at the moment? I still haven't got a widow or Black Widow yet either.

The Harrier is the beat gun, so long as you stay by the ammo crate. It's even better if you use a Turian, with their race benefits for assault rifles.

OK, I know I've unlocked at least one challenge banner thingie from the Halloween deal but I can't seem to find where I actually set that. How do I customize my name... plate... dealie?
