Self indulgent parent thread

Pages

I thought it might be nice to have a thread for parents to share pictures, stories or whatever about ther kids being cool.

Really, I just wanted to share my joy at my 4 year old daughter's current game. We have been playing Wind Waker for several weeks now, and she has spent this afternoon running around our back garden pretending to be Link, on a made up quest of her own: to find the daughter of the King Of Red Lions, the Princess Of Pink Lions.

Combining gaming and fresh air. Fantastic dad win!

(I can't get the pic to embed, so link)

So cute!...I want to be like her when I grow up.

Oh man, that is *adorable*

Now I need to think of something awesome for my daughter too.

This is the bedside lamp my two girls made me for Christmas (with the help of their mom). They're 10 and 13.

That is awesome!

A couple of weeks ago, my 5 year old son started to do the sad trombone sound when something didn't work out as expected. It makes me smile.

Your daughter is adorable spider. It's confirmed that my wife is pregnant with baby #2 and I'm actually fearful if we have a daughter - I know she will have me wrapped around her finger.

That's a pretty awesome lamp trichy. Some creative girls you have!

Had a great day with my 2 year old boy on Saturday. Took some swimming lessons at the Y; he loves the water, and then had a nice walk outside as it's remarkably warm here in NJ lately.

A pic from some goofy fun the three of us were having.

I can't describe the happiness it brings me to watch my wife 'fly' our 5.5 month old around the living room. He keeps his head up, and gets a huge grin every time he buzz bombs me. I haven't caught it on camera yet because I'm too busy just soaking it in, but here he is a few weeks ago after a cruise in the jogging stroller.

Kid thread! I've got 5 and more stories than I can count at this point, so I'll go with a current favorite. My 2nd youngest has had it ingrained from my wife that occasionally, when a car rolls by, Daddy's home. Now, *every* time a car rolls by that he hears, he pipes up with 'Daddy's home!'. The fantastic part about it is that the faster the car rolls by, the faster he says it. And it gets really amusing when we get several in succession and he's sitting on my lap.

Recently my 6 year old wandered by me in PJ's, wearing a fedora carrying a whip and humming the cantina song.

I was so proud.

Thanks for starting this thread. Going by the pictures of babies in 'Post a picture of yourself' I was feeling far too old for the website.

This is my son:

He's not like other kids, but damn if I don't love him more than anything.

My son did something similar. When he was around 20 months he thought all men were called "Daddy" and all women were "Mommy". So when my wife would take our son to daycare (which is in the building she works at), he would see random men and say "Daddy!!!".

Amazing!

Clocks, your son is really handsome. Big feet though!

This is my little bundle of joy: Abigail Tegan. She doesn't know it yet, but she has daddy wrapped around her tiny fingers. She is also the only thing in the known universe that can get between daddy and a session of Mass Effect 3 without risking total annihilation.

Yes she will. And it's great. My daughter is 10 months old and I just spent an afternoon alone with her - significant other and my 3 year-old son went to a concert together. Five hours of pure bliss running around on my knees to a constant laughter of my daughter. My knees hurt like hell now but who cares?

Is it weird with that hat and that expression I really want her to take me fishing and teach me life lessons?

While shaving this morning, my 6 year old knocked on the bathroom door. "Password?", I said. Without hesitation, he yelled "Cheeseball!", so I let him in.

I fully expected him to yell, "Daaad, I have to pee!", but he embraced the silly. High five.

He has also started going "PPSSTT" with his tongue. It is hilarious when he is crying and he'll be like "Waaaa Waaaa PPSSTTT Waaa PSSSTTT PPPPSSTTT"

This week I am proud to say I got my 3 year old son hooked on his first "game system": a handheld Leapster "educational" gadget. While he's playing a Lightning McQueen racing game, I comment:

"Hey, you should pick up those coins on the track to get more points."

To which he responds, "those are TOKENS, Daddy, and you can win the race without picking up any."

"But don't you want the most points?"

"QUIET DADDY I CAN'T HEAR THE GAME!"

Clearly I have sired a non-completionist.

He looks like he should be in the stands at a soccer game.

My daughter turned 18 months old a week ago. She's a lot more fun now that she's talking and climbing up stairs and "reading" books to herself.

I approve!

My addition - Stellan vs Sweet Potato. Round 1.
