PAX East 2012 Catch All & GWJ Meetup

You guys are going to make me play board games, aren't you. I ALWAYS SKIP THOSE PARTS OF THE PODCAST.

You can skip the boardgames.. but we'll all be very disappointed in you

Hey look at that, I'm going to turn 29 at PAX. Not sure how I missed that one.

I might make it out this year. We shall see.

With most people registered at the Seaport, is that where the Thursday night fun will be? Or are we still going to take over the Westin's lobby?

I only have a suite for Fri/Sat night, so Thursday night seems unlikely.

I kid. I look forward to learning Castle Ravenfunk or whatever it's called.

Registered and at the Seaport

Can I still hang out with all the cool kids, if I'm staying at the Westin?

I'm a Boston local, so I'll be staying in my own bed, but I am all about meeting fellow goodjers this year.

Sure, you'll just have to walk across the bridge

The COOL bridge

Dat's Cool! I'll be laughing to myself as I ride the elevator to my room at night and you all are walking over the "Cool Bridge" to get to your bed.

I am in, staying Fri and sat night at the seaport. My family lives in RI so i will be crashing down there thursday and sun night and then driving back to PA on Mon

BOOKED! My wife and I will be coming, and I'm gonna put out a notice to my other geeky friends. Went ahead and booked the Seaport, after seeing all the recommendations here. At Pax Prime, it was *definitely* worth having a hotel reasonably close, since you can drop things off before heading to evening activities, or run back and chill for an hour if you get overwhelmed.

its just gonna be me, my wife gave me to go ahead to do this one time in my life but she is a non gamer so wont be tagging along, so anyone with room in their walk around group keep me in mind

I grabbed my tickets almost as soon as they went on sale.

So now I need to really start the planning & booking (well hotels at least)

My plan is to fly into Boston on the Wed before and then after PAX move onto the rest of my 3 week US sojourn (wherever/whatever that ends up being).

I'll be looking to book into the Seaport a.s.a.p.

EDIT: Or the Seaport could be booked out for the Wed 4th -> Monday 9th

Mission one is going to be finding the best bacon within a one mile radius of the Seaport.

I just made a new friend!

You shouldn't have to go too far... check out the breakfast/brunch at Aura, the restaurant on the ground floor of the Seaport.

Now that's what I like to hear!

So i've done some investigating, and it seems that with my budget (which isn't small, but restrictive enough), I'm not going to be able to get anything super close to the convention centre. I'm probably looking about 2.5 miles or so.

Does anyone have any experience/recommendations out of (staying for 5 nights):

Park Plaza Hotel & Towers (1.8m) - $159 night
MidTown Hotel (2.5m) - $149 night
Radisson Hotel Boston (2.5m) - $145 night

At this stage, I'm considering the Park Plaza as its the closest (plus an extra $50 + tax won't kill me).

We had a great breakfast last year at the Three Moves Ahead meetup at Lucky's on Congress St., about a 10-minute walk from the Seaport.

Indeed we did.

Dinner's a good time there too. Switchbreak can tell you all about the Guinness float.

It's a nice hotel. Well done.

By the by: is there anything we locals can do for fellow Goodjers on their way into town?

This makes me relieved... I was so paranoid about booking (being half a world away)

Ayuh. Hard to go wrong booking anything in downtown Boston, really -- I've not stayed at the Omni, but it's right near my office in the city.
