Things you should know by now, but only just discovered

And the corrections officer who returned Jake's possessions at the beginning of the film is none other than Frank Oz.

That movie is a treasure.

He also played the cop going through Winthorp's possessions in Trading Places, so he got to do that to both Aykroyd and Belushi in separate movies.

Thank goodness there was no helicopter chase in Blues Brothers, although John Landis did insert himself into the police car that was spinning on its roof during the mall chase.

Two things for me today - first that the Clock app icon on the iPad - just the app icon, not anything else on the screen - is actually a functioning clock, showing the current time.

The Android Clock app icon does that too.

I've got a clock on my wall that does that too.

What happens when you tap the wall clock with your finger?

Do you just... Throw the wall clock on a neck chain when you head outside?

Flavor Flav? ...he's all hype, man...

1.14 Petabytes of data - the data, not the media - weighs about 1 gram.

How does that work?

That can't possibly be accurate. I'm virtually certain that Lt. Commander Data weighs more than 90-odd grams.

Beanman - I still have not figured it out but there are clues lol. Basically, experiment's like Szilard's Engine show that information *may* have energy (and therefore a mass value. Other work discusses how carrying information changes the mass of the storage media. There's all sorts of cool stuff out there. I just put this assertion out there because it's fun.

Scorpions are related to lobsters.

And you can eat them, too.
They are actually common in much of SE Asia, and there's a Scorpion Festival in Beijing every year.

Where can I get a scorpion tree?

Thailand, probably. Good luck getting it through customs.

My favorite beer, Tank 7, is actually American! I bought it in a Belgian supermarket, and knew it was not local, but that came as a bit of a surprise. Not that Americans make great beers, more that it's commonly available across the Atlantic.
