Mass Effect 3 Catch-All

The Typhoon is godly. It's a high-accuracy, high-damage, high-capacity, high-ROF machine gun with very little recoil. The only downside is the first few shots fire slowly as it spins up, and its shield can sometimes get in the way of seeing what you're shooting at. Plus it looks like an elephant. Which is appropriate, because it weighs about as much as one.

Does it have homing bullets like the Geth Plasma Shotgun? Pretty tough to beat those.

Negative, but Piranha DPS far outstrips the plasma shotgun even at medium range (with smart choke equipped). I used to love the GPS as a general-purpose carry, but it's just too slow on gold for me.

I finished the ME series this weekend, and I've got to say that I loved the ride. Like many, I've decided to pretend the ending was a little different, but I found the overall experience amazing. There were plenty of moments in ME3 that delighted me, which surprised me after all the negative press. The complaints about the ending certainly drowned out whatever praise it should have gotten for the other 99% of the game.

If you're like me and thinking about skipping it, do yourself a favor and jump in. It was fantastic. Rewrite the ending in your head an move on happily with your life

Yeah, the narrative of ME3 the game has gotten hijacked--it's great, and with history as the final judge, I bet it's remembered that way.

I wouldn't even say one has to rewrite the ending as much as fill in information provided throughout the game, which doesn't seem a big imposition for a game in which one plays a role. Unfortunately, a lot of people want to treat story like it's loot the devs have put in there, and expect to farm NMs for the Celestial Ending of the Whale or the like.

Is that a reference to Star Fox?

Some FFXI slang and Diablo, actually.

Hey, that's my birthday. Hopefully it comes out on PSN at the same time.

Double post automatically occured because of how awesome my birthday is.

What are the pre-order bonuses for your birthday?

Different skins for the candles on the cake and the lighter used to ignite them. Targeted customers, as in me, get special bonuses from the wife, though she isn't revealing exactly what will be included yet.

Operation Jackhammer: Get 75K points with biotic charge. Any difficulty, any map, across multiple matches.

Probably just some BS avatars and themes.

I dunno, there was something about an exclusive DLC quest, but I still got a month to go to find out what it is. It's probably on-disc DLC though for the marriage and birthday games really.

The Leviathan DLC is half price on XBL today only.

Anyone here taken the bite on the Omega DLC? The 15$ price feels like them trying to see how far they can push it.

I have. Downloading now at a speed so slow I think it's actually sucking data OFF my harddrive.

Might get a chance to check it out later.

Early reports have it clocking in ~4 hours. Most of the other ME2 and ME3 DLC have been ~2 hours.

I looked at a 'quick look' type video. It seems to be more of a solo mission. No squad.

Huh. I don't have enough Bioware Points stocked up from that half price sale last year.

Wonder if there will ever be another PC sale on those?

Not sure what I'll do. I picked up the previous single-player DLC but still haven't touched it. Probably wait a bit on this one.

Played a couple of missions - pretty good production values and it seems to be a fairly hefty chunk of content including a couple of new bad-guy types and some new guns. Played for about two hours and it sort of feels like the half-way point, so four hours sounds reasonable for length.

You don't get your regular crew but Aria and the Turian are squadmates.

Ah good to know. Thanks.

It took me about 4 hours. Moved at a decent pace, too. It fleshes out Aria quite a bit, and the new character provides a very nice foil to her.

I think the price is about right, because there is quite a bit of content in there. In terms of difficulty, the final encounter is probably the hardest I've seen outside of multiplayer. It's the first time I've died more than once with my level 60 Adept femshep, but it wasn't that frustrating once I got into a rhythm.

Overall, it's better than Leviathan, but still not as good as Shadow Broker.

Yep aboot 4hrs... final encounter was cake (adjutants - just run from). Nice to have new content, regardless of ME3's ending....

Dammit, I wanna give these a try, but I´m still on my ME2 run with DLC. Soon.....Sooooooon....

So I finally got around to Omega yesterday. It might be my favorite piece of DLC for the whole series so far. Sadly they didn't answer the "Why have we never seen a Turian female before?" question. Also I really wish it would have let you take a squad member with you. Be interesting to see different reactions between the various characters but I guess they didn't want to have to pay the voice actors again. But could have been interesting with Garrus if Nyreen ended up being the recon scout he mentioned in ME2 who had flexibility.
