I may be a little slow with this but my favorite part of FTL was the music.

I can a across the guy who made the music and he has the entire soundtrack on the site:

I thought the soundtrack was bundled with the Steam version of the game? At least, there's a copy in my SteamsteamappscommonFTL Faster Than Light directory on Windows...

There was a bundle when FTL came out, but now it's separate. Picked it up off Steam during the 1/2-off weekend for $2. And yes, it is amazing.

Super Tannhauser'd. Woops.

This is why I'm very cautious about boarding the flagship during stage 1. It's doable, but only in certain circumstances.

If I have a boarding crew, I always board the gun rooms. I never noticed not being able to pull them out if the ship is cloaked. I could have sworn I have done that many times.

You can't teleport out if an enemy ship is cloaked. You can set the retrieval teleport though if the teleporter is ready, so they'll beam back as soon as the cloak is down.

Woo-hoo! Finally beat the flagship on easy after racking up 10 hours!

I used the Kestrel B with two Heavy Laser Is, a Burst Laser II, and a Basic Laser. I used a double mantis boarding party to kill off the missle gunner and a few other crew in stage 1, then killed almost all the rest (except for the heavy laser gunner -- thanks for the advice!) in stages 2 and 3 using mainly lasers (and the fires that they sparked). The strategy that people described of cloaking (at power level 1) right before the effects of the stage 2 and 3 surges worked tremendously well (thanks)!

I can't wait to try it out with some other ships and on Normal!

Ok, that must be what is happening. I just didn't notice that they didn't come back immediately.

Actually, the soundtrack is available for purchase on Steam as well as on Ben Prunty's site (3€49 on Steam IIRC). If it's in your directory, IrishJihad, chances are you bought it.

Edit: Can you still you were ninja'd if you weren't fully really awake and hadn't read the last page? Move along, nothing to see here... ^_^

WOO HOO 12 hours and my first win on easy.

Got lucky and got all the weapons I could ask for in the first 2 systems and kept getting more the rest of the way... full shields and full weapons... got lots of crew and lost lots... Had 8 and went into mantis space came out with 4 and had 6 by the time I got to the end. Bought shield and reload augmentations and helped out an engi ship and got the medi upgrade that heals all over the ship. I was able to have all fully upgraded by the end of the first battle, but lost 1/3 of my hull. With the drones I did ok but lost a little more than a third of my hull... in the final battle I spammed the teleporter and the shields and barely made it out. lol Still had a boarder fighting with my engines guy.

Looking through my Steam library, trying to pick a new game to start, got a list of 20+ games that I've purchased, all of which I intend to play at some point... Well, can't decide... I'll just fire up FTL for a bit...

Yay!!

Finally unlocked the Crystal B. Damn thing took forever.

Spoiler:

You start with:
3 Crystal crew
A 4x pad teleporter
A 4x square med-bay (think it still only fits 3)
And a level 1 Cloak!!!
... but...

Spoiler:

0 -- That is NO weapons (1 power level though)

So you can only run away from the unmanned drone-ships -- at least until you can get your hands on a hull-damaging weapon.

And it's red

Yeah I won with Crystal B on the first attempt on Easy. Fun ship.

Last ship I had to unlock was the Stealth B. First time I tried I didn't make the final sector.

So late last night I gave it another shot. Either "make it to sector 8 without jumping to a hazard" or "dodge 9 point of damage in one cloak." So I got all the way to sector 6, and there was no path without a hazard. Seriously, there were three systems up top all with solar flares, and when I looked at the connections at the bottom path, there weren't any. Had to go through either of 2 solar flares to make the sector exit. Really ridiculous.

But still I made it to the boss, with rank 3 cloak. And I followed the wiki's advice that says you have to de-power your shields to get the cloak achievement to count... but it didn't work. I guess it only shot 7 lasers at me? Or maybe in a bit of a rush I powered my shields again before the cloak was finished? Whatever, still have one ship to unlock.

Ooo, I'll have to try for Crystal B. Basilisk is my favorite ship normally (Mantis B), which also starts with no weapons, although you do get a boarding drone.

Just put the period at the end of my first normal victory using it actually.

Aaargh! I came so close with the Zoltan A, only to be done in by a boarding drone to the head (cockpit) during phase 2 . I didn't keep the flagship's drone system offline for long enough, and it hit me in my Achilles' Heel.

Congrats!

I can't wait until I unlock a Mantis ship, as I'm eager to try out some more boarding strategies.

Yeah I tried Zoltan on normal a minute ago and lost in phase 2 also. But that was my first game on Normal.

The scrap is so scarce, but I still managed to have most of what I needed for the boss. Unfortunately, "miss miss miss" with my Hull Breach Bombs II is going to screw anyone over no matter how well prepared. If you can't ever get their shields down you can't win.

Join us! You too can learn to hate AI drones and Zoltan ships!

Oh, and thanks!

After a few runs that failed miserably by sector 3 (usually because my boarders were kidnapped by the enemy ship jumping away), I devastated the boss losing only 4 points of hull in all of sector 10!

3 crystals + 1 mantis, meant I could lockdown rooms with impunity; either to lock crew in with me, or to lock them out of their damn med-bay until I could destryoy it.

Only have the Rock B left to unlock. Having to rely on missiles for so long is frustrating me.

Keep at it. Rock B is awesome. Pierce Laser to smoke fools with only one shield level in the early game, Fire Bombs and enough Rockmen for one boarding squad as soon as you get a teleporter and a second one as soon as you pick up an extra couple crew members to man the helm and engines... yeah, it's powerful.

And then put out a conversion for the Mobile Frame Zero miniature war game for Lego with spaceships and more Pew!Pew!

Supported!!! That looks awesome! I would totally get one for my son when he graduates from Duplo!

Gonna go 3D model that now.

I've been playing on easy and sometime's the oxygen level goes down even though it doesn't have any damage. Eventually my crew dies and i'm done. Is there a known bug? My ship had little or no structural damage, no fires.

Is your life support system turned on? If it's not getting enough power, you will have problems. Plus, sometimes after its been repaired it won't switch back on because the has meanwhile been rerouted elsewhere.

Note that certain stars interfere with your power output, halving the available power.

Unlocked the Mantis ship and completed my fleet! Yay! Time to train up my Mantis assault team and ravage the enemy crew.

Does the B style Mantis ship have a 4 person teleporter? I need a 4 Mantis assault team!

Yep, it does.

Did you accidentally leave an airlock open? Or leave one open on purpose to fight a fire, but forget to close it again?

The times I've most seen this are when I hit an ion storm and it turns off half my systems, then I forget to send the power back when I return to normal space.

Yeah, that and the enemy ship that cuts off your O2. During the ion storm when the ship loses half its power you think the last system it would automatically turn off would be the oxygen. I usually don't notice until my rooms start to turn pink.

I've had that happen to me so many times... I cruise out of the ion storm, and a few jumps later, I'm sitting there wondering what the heck happened to my O².
I too fail to notice it until my crew's hearts are all aflutter. XD
