Sexual harassment is a part of the fighting game culture...

Oh, I f*cked up. Not Higgledy. His name begins with H and has a red-eyeed Homer Simpson as an avatar. I think it's H to the Ickle. Will amend.

Hmm. I don't remember if that's his avatar or not. I've never had any problems with him, though he is drunk often it seems.

Just call him a slaver. That usually soothes over Mizzou guys well.

Just seems like most threads like this have more than a few people saying "Gasp! I've never seen anything like this!

Well, if you're smart and play with GWJers, you usually won't.

Well, you might get some playing LoL with me after I have some whiskey in me.

I sometimes drink and play LoL. I restrict my insults to Nimcosi. Because he deserves them.

Shoryuken just posted this in response to the WNF incident last night, and the whole situation in general.

TL;DR - SRK is no longer sponsoring WNF, and WNF seed points are no longer valid for Evo. We wanted the community to stand up and police itself, this is the start. I hope to see much more of this very, very soon.

Awesome. That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Great to see. Appreciate you sharing that, ahrezmendi.

Actually, I got abuse from a GWJer for being English. I was in a game, I can't remember which, when [H to the Ickle, I think] referred to me as a 'Brit f*ck'. Not in a joking way, just a deeply unpleasant one.

In general in GWJ, the excuse for unpleasantness seems to be drunkenness. Of course if you know you're an unpleasant drunk - and you still drink - that's no excuse at all.

As a fellow Son of Albion, I've lost count of the number of times I've gotten sh*t gaming online on account of having an English accent. A simple "say what you like, this accent gets me more girls than I know what to do with" usually either shuts up the doofus, or gets him on your side and laughing with you.

The fact that it's not true is neither here nor there :)

I dunno.. I think one would be more girls than these guys know what to do with.

Badass.

So then, I made a mistake and read the comments of the article....

Why do I never learn?

Miranda has posted her thoughts.

For all the silly criticism game(r)s receive for being 'childish' or 'inciting violence', the blatant misogyny and racism in the gaming community is the only real criticism that makes the gamer in me hide in shame.

Seriously, this. But yeah, I can't say i'm surprised this went down. I am, however, surprised at the sheer number of people willing to die on that wall for their "free speech" right to say whatever they want as long as they justify it with "smack talk" and "it wasn't intended with malice".

I really, really, really hate that latter one. Like if I was playing a game with fellow GWJers and called someone a "f*cking ch*nk" but because I was "just trying to psyche him out" it doesn't count. F*ck that noise, seriously.

Awesome. That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Here's hoping other esports take this as a sign of the times and start doing some serious thinking on this subject.

So this subject just got a lot more interesting. Brazzers, what appears to be a really misogynistic porn company, has shown interest in sponsoring fighting game competitions.

Man. That headline graphic is really all you need to know about the article.

This started as some kind of joke on a fighting game community stream. I think it was popularised by a guy called Long Island Joe and the joke gained momentum.

I'm not sure that pornography and feminism are mutually exclusive. For example LI Joe, the guy who had a Brazzers rep on his stream, was pro Miranda and anti-sexism when the Capcom tournament thing blew up.

The relationship between pornography and feminism is a tangled web all its own.

If it's going to become a real "Sport", any sponsorship is good and it will eventually grow out of it.

Like the UFC, had some weird, weird sponsors in the beginning, but they've been shedding them off, the latest one was the Gun store or something. Now it's all video games and stuff.
