SSX (2012) Catch-All

Oh ok, I didn't get that you were using the built-in stream feature. I should set that up and try it out, sounds cool.

Yeah, Coldstream basically covered it. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the soundtrack and will probably switch it back in (with one or two notable alterations) when enough time has passed. I was just getting a feeling of sameness even on courses I'd never ran with characters I rarely played with and realised it was because that 'won't catch me on the Jeremy Kyle show' song was playing yet again.

Music is definitely important in the SSX games, but if you can find tracks in your collection that will gel with the game it suddenly feels like a far more personal experience. I had a lot of luck last night with The Dead Weather's 'Die By The Drop'.

7 'new' DLC characters announced...

Elise, Eddie, Kaori, Mac, Moby, Psymon, and Zoe

Now they're talking about adding 3 'classic' track to the pack. One from SSX, one from Tricky, none from SSX 3 (aka. the best soundtrack) and one from 'Sledstorm' (apparently Zoe and Psymon were in it or something).

Yeah they lost me.

Whatever. I can't see much reason to use DLC music when you can very easily just stream your own playlist.

So I just picked this up - pretty fun! Any of you still playing this on 360? If so, be sure and friend me up! I need the challenge badges!

I am really enjoying this and highly recommend to all!

Still looking for challengers!

We need to do one in each country correct?

Just need to challenge 50 peoples scores and beat them, and have 50 scores challenged and not be overcome.

Challenging is easy - that doesn't require anyone logging in. There was a wealth of scores out there for me to challenge. It is defending that requires people to play now - so help a cheevo-whore out!

You work hard for the money?

Edit:
I was thinking of this one specifically.

I was trying to get this last time I played, and the trouble is that some ranges just aren't played at all, so no ghosts to compete with. I will boot the game up today and see if that has changed.

I'll also give you some challenge, Sally. I can't say you'll be able to defend your scores though.

Okay, fumble fingers here forgot how to play.

Well, lose to a couple of mine atleast:)

You can then go right back in and trounce me mercilessly, and I will still get credit.

I had no problem losing to a couple of your scores today, Sally.

Thanks buddy, you the man:)

I booted this up and tossed up a few more high scores earlier this week. I was immediately reminded of my frustrations with the physics in the game at times (getting stuck between a tree and the hillside, or inside some rocks, is never fun), but what made me end up stopping was finger cramps once again. Gotta rebuild my finger strength.

Has anybody bought the DLC? Thoughts? Recommendations?

Looks like the multiplayer patch went live today, offering two new game modes.

3-2-1 Go! is simultaneous online multiplayer events (both trick and race).

Freeride strips away the entire hud. No timer, no scores, no rules, no ghosts, etc. A pure chill-out mode where you set your own pace and soak in the sights.

Sounds great. I'm looking forward to Freeride more than anything.

Both of those sound awesome. I'm booting it back up tonight.

Simultaneous multiplayer may get the disc back in my 360. I loved the game, but the score chasing got a bit old after awhile. I got far more than my $60 worth of fun out of the game, and I still pop it in now and then. It's become an essential game to have on hand.

But throw in actual racing, and I am going to get another 30 hours out of it.

Freeride: They did it right. Wonderment and awe and just plain fun.

Man, looks like I need to re-buy this.

I now own this game. The new modes pushed me over the edge. No pun intended.

Alright fine, I'll update and see what the fuss is about. And maybe finish the campaign. I must've started another game, because I definitely didn't give this game all the time it was due.

I never beat the campaign. I never even beat a single area. But there are just a few rides that are effortless fun, and now that the stupid has been taken out, its worth riding just to float over them. That EA figured this out, much less did it right, is shocking.

Just picked this up

I finally beat one of Farscry's times. Phew.

Oddly enough, I just fired the game up this weekend for the first time in a long time. Wow, my skills have atrophied, but it's still a complete blast to play!

[edit]And yeah, it's really nice to have Free Ride back; that was my favorite way to play SSX 3. I'm just disappointed that, as far as I can tell, not every run is available in Free Ride.

Man, going back to this game is the one thing that really makes me want to re-up my gold membership. But I just can't justify it for one game I occasionally play. :/ Enjoy not having my name at the top of the leaderboard anymore.

The game has really clicked for me at the second attempt to get into it. Having times and trick totals to chase is fantastic, now I'm actually succeeding occasionally :).

I keep forgetting about free ride. I must give it a go. A big aspect of snowboarding games I enjoy is just being 'out there' on the snow. It'd be nice to have the occasional break from chasing scores.

Thinking of getting this in the coming weeks...

It's excellent. One of those games that gets better and better the deeper you go into it.

Edit: and I've just discovered competitive Survive It runs and personalised sound tracks.

I need to scour my iTunes list for suitable tracks.

Edit 2: This is my list so far. It can probably be safely described as eclectic.
