That Kickstarter barely launched, and they're already at 26%. Glad too see that.

Far and away the coolest thing I've seen in months.

Mind. Blown.

Oh god that f*cking sh*tcake of an episode. *goes into convulsions*

We look for things

Things to make us go

SPOILER ALERT!!

I'm very, very pleased this KS is doing as well as it is. The Kicktraq is hilarious right now

Wow! There are already 2 pledges at the $10k level and over $712k currently pledged!

The Mystery of Oak Island

Adventure game based on the mystery of Oak Island. (Yeah, it was probably a hoax but I've always had an interest in the myth.)

I've seen this tech before... I'm sorry, but its not going to be competitive with traditional roadways. A few high end parking lots and whatnot might get made... but it's not even close to ready for a municiple project even for an overly ambitious town.

I've been working on solar panels for 5 years now... this just doesn't have the payback timescale needed to get actual road projects started. This is just like Solyndra style press hype. (I actually had some of those for our demonstrations to customers before they collapsed.) If they are smarter about the scale up then they may stick around, but I just don't see this becoming a big deal without major technological breakthroughs. It is the definition of niche solar power.

Yeah... it sounds amazing. But it would probably cost me 10 years worth of my entire yearly income just to do half my driveway.

Not gonna hold my breath.

Reading Rainbow just hit their goal. 1,014,543 as I post this.

That's completely mind-boggling to see them raise $1 million in less than 24 hours.

Also, I'm so in for at least the fridge magnet.

I really wish Kicktraq would work on their algorithm and not just use "stock" statistics projections. You'd think after a year of collecting data for every single Kickstarter project, they'd be able to better model the "early surge, middle slump, end surge" and not say that Reading Rainbow is going to bring in $28m...

Here's one that I backed very quickly, Reading Rainbow.
Did you grow up with Reading Rainbow? Want to help today's children grow up with it?
Take a look (it's in the web), and back if you can.

Not sure if joke or skim of epic proportions...

Ahhh! Taharka's reading comprehension hasn't improved! Well, SOMEONE didn't take Levar Burton seriously, did they?

I think it was an epic skim, but you don't have to take my word for it.

Yeah I backed it right away as well. My heart flutters whenever I hear the song!

They're totally gonna hit 2 million by the end of the day.

Hey, fellow Canadians, am I out of my mind in thinking that Reading Rainbow wasn't as big a thing for us as it was for our neighbours South of the Border?

Oh man, this has already hit its goal, but it seems like a great KS to back. It takes me back to my childhood and will provide their program to schools FOR FREE! Check it out: Reading Rainbow.

I was more a fan of Cover to Cover.

So you're saying the government is likely to throw money at them and then they'll fail?

Seriously, the hype sounds good, but the amount of buy in for this to be viable would be astounding. And how is this product going to change the massive upkeep costs that come with things like freezing and other weather conditions? Sure, the roads might heat themselves, but what happens when the foundation cracks and the panels are no longer level?

Perhaps there's some amazing engineers who will come up with solutions, but I think Mother Nature will win this battle.

Much skimming. Very irony. Wow.

Grew up in Montreal, we got WGBH Boston. Reading Rainbow was huge for me as a kid in the mid to late 80s.

It was gigantic for me but I was aware of it. I was more into Mr. Dressup.

Casey and Finnegan for president!
