Well, now that Ogre is funded how about Car Wars?

I will be all over a Car Wars reboot.

Yeah, just that possibility did it for me. I'm in. Plus I want the t-shirt.

That something some dumb would even be an option for backing doesn't help the cred earned by some other projects. I agree with Patrick Klepek (saw where he tweeted this earlier) that they must not even be trying to pretend to vet with something like this up.

I don't think they've ever claimed to vet any of the projects listed. You'd need a dedicated army to make sure everyone who's posting a project is capable of pulling it off. EDIT: In fact, they say right in their FAQ that they're only checking to make sure the forms are filed properly.

Once the gold rush ends I'm sure we'll see less junk. At least that's usually how the cycle goes. Like most "wisdom of the crowds" ventures, the assumption is that people are smart enough to reward talent.

Match and Magic is down to their last 35 hours, though they're now over their goal of $15,000.

Just mentioning it again as you all should check out the demo and see what a cool twist on Puzzle Quest it is.

DP guy cancelled his Kickstarter. Apparently realized it was going to cost a lot more than $1,500 for the Unity licenses.

But Carmageddon? YES YES YES!! Totally trying to get all my friends in on this. If you get 3 others to donate to a 4 pack ($100 tier) you can get early beta access, car model, skin, and accessories to use in game. Not a bad deal.

This seemed like it was lagging behind for quite a while. I went to check on it last night to see if it was ever successful, saw that it was, significantly, and still had 7 hours left. So I chipped in $9 for a 720p download. Looking forward to it!

Ogre just went over $700K. Get ready for Car Wars!

Wonder if Ogre will break the all-time record?

It's amazing how many banner ads I'm seeing on BGG now that have the Kickstarter logo on them.

Two. But still, that's two more than I'd ever seen before! This crowd-funding boom for games is interesting, it definitely looks like a perfect marriage. I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out/settles down/etc.

I honestly didn't think this would get funded - Documentary Expedition to Congo- KILLER REWARDS!!!. But $27,000 later these dudes are apparently getting their cash.

The Sound Lazer
Oh the mischievous things that could happen with this device ;).

On the bright side, perhaps they'll get mauled to death by apes.

Yeah I wrote a post about how I would never be able to bring myself to donate to dudebros, but then deleted it because I thought better of it.

Oh well.

Vicious Crucible is a tabletop rpg project that looks pretty neat. There's a free scenario with pregenerated characters and a light system available now, and the kickstarter is to ransom the next one (i.e. it will be available free to all if successful) plus funders get to vote for which one comes next.

I know some of Josh Roby's other games, and they're good.

I've had a quick read through the free scenario already and it looks very cool: a neat fantasy scenario with the players playing various characters in a frontier valley just before an invasion. The frontier fort commander and attacking warlord are both PCs, so it can easily get very PvP. All of the characters have various secrets and goals to complicate things, of course. I am looking forward to running it.

$781,597 for Zombicide.

Top 25 list here.

Third edit: Ogre becomes #1 boardgame on Kickstarter, at $784,243 currently, still accumulating for 17 more hours.

I finally broke down at the last minute to do my $100 "donation" to get Ogre.

Cross-posting from the boardgame thread

So I've stumbled across this kickstarter game, Road to Enlightenment. I'm a bit of a history buff so this seems like it would be a lit of fun for me.

I noticed at the bottom of the page that this was at Penguincon 2011, so have any Goodjers here tried it out?

Wow, Republique pulls it off with hours to go! $515,000 and climbing. I didn't think they had a snowball's chance. Check out the graph of their funding... pretty amazing grass roots mobilizing they did in the past 2 weeks.

Ogre came in at $923,680

riiiiiiiiiiidiculous =)

I sat through the demo and played about half a game of Road to Enlightenment. I liked it a lot and I was very excited to buy it.

Then I guess they ran out of money. I'm pleased that they have hopefully found a way to fund development.

Crazy. I couldn't stop myself from buying a copy for nostalgia, but that's a huge accomplishment. I hope they manage the Car Wars KS a bit more smoothly, though. The stretch goals and extras became very confusing at the end.

I'm really curious about Road to Enlightment, can you compare it to another game, Oily?

We were going to print only 3,000, which is the absolute minimum we were sure of selling in a year or so. There would probably not have been expansion sets, or even a reprint. Something that’s expensive to do at 3,000 units is impossible at 1,000!

But with Kickstarter, we can reach a lot of people quickly, and gauge our support. If the initial print run can be bigger, fine!

Upwards of 5,500 copies were sold just through the kickstarter, and now OGRE's a thing again.

Well, after pondering it all day, I put my self in for a Benjamin for Road to Enlightenment. Shipping stuff to Canada is murder.

I don't even know if I'll be able to find anyone local to play this 2-player game with, but I think I need to get this DS game:

It's the newest Jason Roehr game. He thinks about games in very interesting ways.

f*ck, me neither. But that sounds really awesome.

Yup, and I don't have anyone local either. Or, at least, not often enough that it'd make it worth the cost.

I don't find this personally interesting but pretty entertaining. Patrick Klepek tweeted it.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

It's a card game where 2-4 players act as tentacles, disguised as students, who go around an all-girl university trying to "snatch" the other students. The video is really a must watch if you are interested in hatred.

Don't rush for your wallets from sympathy, the project was funded quickly, they've near twice the goal. Of particular note is the variety of $500 backer incentives: you have your wife/girlfriend drawn by their artist and put into the cardgame as one of the women to be fondled. Those are all sold out, of course.

I both love and hate that this exists, is so well funded, and I hope those women dump/divorce the guys that do that option. Isn't it grounds for suing if someone uses your likeness for commercial reasons without your permission?

At first I thought, "Hey, it's Soda Pop, the guys behind Super Dungeon Explore. I've really wanted to play that game."

So I watched the video. Then went to their website. Looked around.

Removed SDE from my list of games to play on BGG.

I'm quite sure the guys that chose that option had full permission from their SO. I hung out in high school with a good number of girls that would squee at that sort of chance.
