Interesting Kickstarter Catch-All

Looks really neat, but $100...

If this takes off like Blood Rage took off, I'm in for $100 simply to get the stretch goals.

I'm waiting to see on said stretch goals. Considering Blood Rage eventually retailed for close to half the Kickstarter price, I'd like to see some nice benefits to backing the KS version. It didn't look like there is anything revealed yet.

I believe there are 5 Kickstarter Exclusive Gods & Monsters revealed so far.

Also, the game is 3-6 players, but only 5 clans are shown so far. I'm guessing the sixth will be an add-on buy announced later.

And if this continues to follow the pattern of Blood Rage, there will be more expansions announced during the campaign.

One thing I'd love to see as a Stretch Goal: Metal coins. They already upgraded from cardboard to plastic (which I'm sure was the plan all along), but metal coins are pretty nice. I'll bet they're either a stretch goal or an add-on.

Just unlocked another monster, and revealed the next two stretch goals: Upgrade various cardstock items to cardboard (Yay?), and a Kickstarter exclusive Panda figure! Look, I'm not even a panda guy, but this figure looks awesome.

And backed, that looks awesome! (total number of backed kickstarters is now 2)

I am also hoping for metal coins, that's my biggest hope for stretch goals, honestly.

The bar for boardgames post-Mechs and Minions is ridiculously high.

Yeah, I'm in. Backed this evening. There are already enough of the stretch goals that I was looking for. I'll be looking forward to painting all the minis in this, if the game is good.

I will say this - it's going to bother me to no end that one of the figures is called a "shinto". Daimyo is accurate. Bushi is a good generic term for a warrior. But "shinto" refers to the traditional Japanese religion and pretty much nothing else. I'm guessing these are some sort of priest figure and "shinto" is easier for Western audiences than the actual Japanese terms for a priest, but ugh. It would be like a wild west game referring to miniatures as "cowboys, barons, and christians." Yes, I'm an insufferable pedant on this topic.

Not games, but I thought I'd drop by and post my sister's Kickstarter for a coloring book full of women who have changed the world. She's been wanting to do this project for a long time and she's finally going for it.

Women Change-Makers

Pledged so fast my mouse caught fire.

It is almost funded! 9 days to go and not much more needed. Awesome!

It's funded. I got an email yesterday.

Woot! Great. I messaged the creator and she was super quick about responding to my feedback - library stuff - and said she would let people know about my campaign after hers ends. Super nice.

Woot! Thanks guys! My sister is super excited to be able to do this project!

Delerat - " Woot! Thanks guys! My sister is super excited to be able to do this project!"

As she should be! It is a very interesting idea and it beats the heck out of another flower colouring book! You might was well colour someone who has done something amazing and then when you show the people the image you can tell them who and why they made an impact on our society.

I'm not a board game player, at least not very often and while I have no interest in Rising Sun as a game, those miniatures are pretty darn awesome, and if they reach their next stretch goal, which doesn't sound like it will be an issue, it looks like a Godzilla miniature for the reward

I worry about transport. There are a lot of spiky bits, parts that stick really far out, look easily bend/breakable.

They are freaking gorgeous however.

The Blood Rage minis all come in very sturdy plastic racks that hold them in place well. You really don't need a custom storage solution - at least, for the base game. With extras, who knows.

I transported several big box games to PAX South this year, and Blood Rage was the least of my worries. Mansions of Madness was a beast, and will likely never leave my house again. With Star Wars Rebellion, I just packed everything in baggies and one square card box.

It ain't cheap, but the Broken Token has an organizer that manages to squeeze everything for Blood Rage, including all expansions and all KS exclusives, into the core box. I honestly don't know how they manage to fit it all in, but it shrunk my Blood Rage game pile down from about 9 boxes of various sizes to 1.

Seriously, if you're interested, get in on this train for the stretch stuff.

There's a freaking godzilla now.

The way I have come to see this kind of Kickstarter is that they are deluxe editions, and they are unfortunately only available once.

Rising Sun is shaping up to be way more deluxe than Blood Rage. The latter had four extra monsters as the only mechanical difference. It also had three alternate sculpts of small monsters, plastic token upgrades, and an alternate clan that was cosmetic only. For whatever reason, I like the plastic upgrade pieces the most.

Rising Sun already has more than four Kickstarter exclusive monsters and has a ton of upgraded components in the KS version. Today's goals of plastic fortresses are really sweet, especially the Turtle Clan's, which ride on the backs of giant turtles. Personally, I love this stuff, and it will only be available this one time.

I wish they didn't do it this way, but they do, and I want the goodies!

Rising Sun will get the Fox Clan at $1,840,000.
They're currently at $1,705,010, so I have no doubt they'll make the new clan. That will let the game be up to 6 players.

I love that no expansion purchase will be required for backers to play with the full six players! Nice improvement over Blood Rage!

This does mean that there will be a seventh clan, because retail customers will need access to the full player count as well. I'm guessing that clan will be an "optional buy" for backers and sold at retail. The KS extras for that clan will be available to backers who add it on as part of the campaign.

I'm looking forward to gold-plated everything when it hits 3m.

Shinto is also the word for believer, layman, adherent, follower. Completely different Kanji from the religion (shintou)

Rising Sun's current stretch goals seem a bit funky. They've broken up the Fox clan into at least five different stretch goals, which... why? What happens if they suddenly stopped and never made it to the next Fox clan goal? Is it playable if you're missing pieces? Why not just put it all at a strech goal of 2.2 million or whatever?

It is silly, but it doesn't bother me.

Yes, that's bugging me as well. It's just an excuse to talk about the individual items but. I dunno.

Got my Fidget Cube today. It is actually pretty cool!

I've been seeing millions of "fidget" devices on kickstarter these days. And "spinners".
Did you get it because you need to fidget a lot, or just because it's neat?

I think the Ansty Labs Fidget Cube was the first. I got one for my son who needs a fidget and I got one for myself because it's neat.

Btw on the subject of boardgame Kickstarters, is anyone backing Empires of the Void 2 by Ryan Lauket?

I am, yes. Joel Eddy said some great things about it and I enjoy Lauket designs.

I'd be curious to know if that's a word in common usage though.

Ended unsuccessfully, I'm afraid.
