Interesting Kickstarter Catch-All

Backed.

+1

Back it last night, before I saw the update. Ugh.

I don't generally check this thread, but just decided on impulse to have a look because we've been discussing it over in P&C, glad to see some backing from the Goodjers.

I thought this one sounded interesting: looks like a board-navigation game where the players can alter the board while playing. Under 50 bucks for a copy of the game is good, especially if the board turns out nicely. I do like games that have the rules figured out already, too; but it looks like this one is not going to make it.

Another one that looks like a long-shot - sort of a portable Geek Chic item. I'm not impressed with the most basic ideas they have, but the briefcases that fold out into a gaming table look really good.

Described as a game inspired by Twilight Imperium and Cosmic Encounters, the images and descriptions make me think of Sins of the Solar Empire. It's nearly over, and really close to it's goal, so it might get off the ground. 35 dollars gets you a copy of the game, which doesn't looks like it is a very high-end product, but the price fits, so who knows?

I don't remember if I posted about this or only thought about it, but I loved Puzzle Pirates, and this game looks like a board-game version of the ship to ship combat game from that. It already hit its goal, but it looks really good, and I would love to see it succeed with a huge overflow. I already backed this one, so if it somehow manages to get shipped out before PenguinCon, I will bring it.

Another one that already made it, but looks good, is this. I first heard about this game on Tabletop, but it looks fun, and a sequel with added complexity sounds great. I'm not sure about pre-funding this - it should be actually on shelves in time anyway, but I felt it still fits the point of this thread.

Someone I'll finally open my wallet for.
Faithful modernization of M.U.L.E. with license from Dan(i) Bunten's family.

Ooh, someone tell Julian he'll fund the whole damn thing.

The Return of Tom vs/ Bruce, with possible guest appearances by Desslock and Erik Wolpaw. Even if you have no interest, you should read Erik's update about his possible appearance, as it is hysterical.

Hilarity confirmed.

I didn't find that funny at all ... for some reason.

Is this related to the old animated film that was a great nightmare fuel source?

Edit: Tom v Bruce is going to be glorious

Yup, the film was the animated adaptation of the manga

Well so much for getting a good night's sleep....

75-150$ for an iPhone case?

It's sexy and all but there's a limit to what I'd pay for that

The fine folk at Geek Chic have a kickstarter: Moustache Monocles

Not something I'm gonna buy, but I love the idea and the kickstarter video is pretty clever

I want a yacht!

Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster just added models for mercenaries from their ship 'Calamity' (think Serenity) for a stretch goal. If they hit 470K you get four crew members instead of just two for the 20$ optional bid. From the latest update:

IMAGE(http://www.coolminiornot.com/images/kickstarter-sw/MercCrew.jpg)

"The crew of the Calamity never thought they'd get caught up in the going's on of a remote science station. Still, the take from handling the "special" cargo they hauled from that creepy moon made everything worth it. That and a bit of RnR on a cushy science facility with all the mod cons unavailable on a deep space freighter was a good morale booster for the crew.

Now Captain Ian Reins, his XO Bella Grange, enforcer Phoenix Corbett, and the mysterious and deadly pilot Delta Chen have found themselves caught between Vanguard forces and slavering mutants intent on infecting them with some kind of nano-virus. Still, the crew has dealt with misfortune before, and they intend to get out of this bit of worry like they always do... intact, alive, and broke."

The Captain and his lovely XO will glady report for duty for paltry $20! Like the rest of the promo figures, please limit yourself to 3 each per Biohazard set you're pledging for. Ships in March 2013, unpainted and unassembled.

Complete the crew of the Calamity! If we hit this stretch, Phoenix and Delta join the Cap in his (mis)-adventures on Alabaster Station! They'll ship the same time as the Captain and XO and are free with every set of the Mercenary Crew!

Mercenary Crew complete if we hit this stretch!

Know who's great?

Gina Torres.

Apparently, Nathan Fillion is also.

You know who has a kickstarter? SMBC!

"Hey baby, I need a charge. Let me take off this belt."

Volt buckle, a usb charger built into a belt buckle.

(Indie GoGo, not Kickstarter, but the same concept...)

Think Warhammer 40K Apocalypse for the computer.

Exodus Wars: Fractured Empire

Apparently that's based on a table top miniatures game. Never heard of Exodus Wars, but I'm not a tabletop gamer, so ....

Anyway, I like the concept, but something seems off with the scale of everything. Those giant mechs are GIANT.

I can't get a vibe from this game. The combat looks promising, I don't know what to make of the game's structure, and some of the animations looks placeholder, yet it seems they're at or near content lock.

If anyone's a fan of Kel McDonald's work (Sorcery 101), she's doing a Kickstarter to release a new book. It's going to be more action oriented than her previous work, and will feature a grown up Rebecca (from Sorcery 101) working as a bodyguard with supernatural powers.

She's already met the goal of $3,000 to print a black & white book, and her final stretch goal is $20,000 to print it in color. All levels get you access to the blog she'll be doing during the project (posting 10 pages a month until it's done) and a .pdf of the comic when it's done. $10 gets you that and a physical copy of the book when it's done. It's all scripted out, and the first 10 pages are available here for a preview. Some of it might not make much sense without having read her previous work though, as she's been developing the world for 7 years.

A collection of Horror stories, primarily from women authors, is ending soon, and needs under 500 bucks to make it! They are accepting stories, and kickstarters get a little payola consideration to being included in the anthology. I was impressed that the woman running it sent me a personal thank you message for my small donation. Support writers in "off-gender" genres!

The producer/narrator guy just rubs me the wrong way. Skeevy and douchey come to mind. I do like some of the ideas they have here, but as a complete product, not sold.

Wow, you aren't kidding.

When did someone let Quintin get in front of a camera?
