Borderlands 2 Catch-All

Well, the DLC is out today, but I'll probably be playing Persona 4 unless the store update doesn't happen until late.

LESS SISSY JRPG TALK, MORE EXPLOSIOOOOOONS! YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT, SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? BUY TORGUE!

Chie would rather play Borderlands 2 than Persona 4.

One of the things I hate about the DLC for BL2 is they completely lack instructions on how to get to the new content. I should not have to google the fast travel locations.

I know this is an arena based DLC but I still can't find where it is. Maybe I shouldn't have bought the Season Pass.

fangblackbone:

If you're downloaded the content, the new Fast Travel Location should appear in your Fast Travel menu as "Badass Crater of Badassitude." It's fairly distinct from the other locations that way. "Oasis," was not as obvious, IMO.

I find the bleeps more annoying than the swears they are covering up. The near constant stream of swears is tedious, don't get me wrong. But the bleeps make them damn near intolerable for me. f*cking say f*ck if that's what your character would say. For f*cks sake.

Hmm, maybe it was released later in the day yesterday? Because I saw on steam that it was released yet I had no option to download it and saw nothing in the DLC section other than gaige and the season pass. This was yesterday morning around 7am pacific.

The download started automatically early afternoon for me.

fangblackbone:

It wasn't live for me until a few hours ago.

Mr. Torgue agrees with you! According to him, his board had his vocal cords surgically altered to bleep out his swearwords right out of his mouth. And it pisses him off like the dickens. I found it pretty amusing. For the most part, DLC2 just has the usual positions and material on a variety of issues, strictly poking mild fun at the topic at hand. Mr. Torgue's hard surgical alteration to restrict his speech is actually the most dystopian and depressing skewering of censorship in the game so far, IMO.

So he's like Cartman from the South Park movie?

I'm new here, so if this isn't the place to post this, please let me know.

I'm playing on the PS3 and I've got a level 50 Siren. I've taken down Terramorphous, but I'm having trouble with Hyperius. I'm currently specced for damage, but am totally willing to spec into the healing tree to play in groups. If anyone wants to add me, my PSN name is greenegeek.

This is exactly the place to post it. Not sure how many goodjers are playing it on the PS3 though.

Yeah I'm on PC, but I have only seen 2 GWJ friends online playing it on PS3 I think.

How many people have the DLCs on the PC?

I'm down to just the raid bosses with my Gunzerker and I doubt I want to struggle through them solo.

Yeah if you guys don't play with Mantid soon, you're going to force him to buy the Season Pass for me as a gift so I will play with him.

Hm, on second thought, don't play with Mantid...

I have both DLCs on the PC. steam ID is roxlimn2k.

Friend invite sent. Currently working on getting my mechromancer to 50 so I won't be much help with Hyperius for the moment. I have both dlcs but have beaten neither of them in tvhm and only the pirate one pre-tvhm.

Finished the Torgue DLC today. There were a lot of definitely laugh out loud moments for me. I liked the mix of quests and arena-ish combat. The mini bosses are all pretty diverse and fun. Two f*ckin bad*ss thumbs up.

I finished it today as well (on playthrough1). Definitely enjoyed it quite a bit. Still haven't gotten a character to 50, or defeated any of the 'raid' bosses, though I've tried to solo Hyperius a couple of times. I can get him down to ~50% or so, but then I either run out of ammo, or I screw up and get a stompin.

One of these days I'll organize a gathering to take those guys down. First, I need to finish a TVHM playthrough.

Man, the 3rd tier time trial race thing in torgue. Wasted so many tries taking a suboptimal route. It was just close enough to looking do-able that I didn't think to find a better route, chalking my failures up to bad luck or lack of skill. Ultimately looked it up and managed it using the correct route in only 3 tries (the first of which didn't really count, was just going through clearing the way of enemies). So pro tip: if you're having trouble, even if it seems like you're really close each time, have a look for short cuts etc.

Yeah. Once I got frustrated with the tier 3 race, I said "f*ck it, I'm cheating," and proceeded to ignore the race track altogether. Turns out that seems to be the right way to do it!

I still have a blue trinket I got from Ellie that adds a ton of vehicle boost related stats (length, recharge rate, etc), so I kept repeating the stage 3 race to get Torgue tokens. Usually finished with about ~9 seconds to spare, unless I screwed up a handbrake turn or ran into a checkpoint post (which happened a fair number of times because I am not that awesome at driving).

Tyrian:

There's a way through the race that mainly involves going in a straight-ish line. First, go directly to the first checkpoint without regard for the road, then head straight for the sand bank onto the hill behind Moxxi's bar. Follow the curve of the bank left, then get off just to the right of the ramp and land next to the second checkpoint. Head straight for the third, then turn right sharply to the ramp. On the first go around, you will have enough boost to get on top of the ruined bridge and head straight down to the broken end of it, falling to the left side of the road into the last checkpoint.

On the second go-around, you will not have enough boost. That's okay. Just land under the supports, go through Scooter's yard and into the last checkpoint, then boost for the win.

I'm not a skilled driver myself, so I worked out this route to be the simplest and requiring the least amount of control skill.

I was mostly ignoring the road (though I was boosting through the tunnel past Moxxi's instead of going around and over), but I could usually finish the race with 9 seconds or so on the clock 4 out of 5 times. I was definitely doing the ramp past checkpoint 3 (non boosted) to land in a place where you could drive through the bridge supports and down into Scooter's front lawn.

The thing that would trip me up (other than screwing the jump and landing with a support in front of me, or hitting a checkpoint post) was that occasionally the map geometry would randomly decide that THIS time, my tire(s) touched it in such a way that I needed to flip over or spin out.

I bought this during Black Friday for PS3 (specifically on Thursday because consumerism). In fact, I got three copies. One for me and two for friends. I played last night which was also the first time I played on PS3.

It had been long enough that I forgot why I bitched endlessly about how combining RPG mechanics with shooting mechanics needs to be handled delicately. That said, it's much less of a problem here. I started a game with my friend last night (he was going to wait to open his present, but considering he was talking about buying Borderlands 2 I kind of had to stop him) and it was pretty fun. I think I'll start a new game today using a different character. I feel like going back and forth between different characters and seeing which I like best.

Username on PSN is ccesarano.

As a note, we were playing evening hours on a Saturday night. I don't know if that's a common gaming time, but we experienced no lag or connectivity issues, so playing online on PS3 shouldn't be too bad.

I haven't gotten to there (or gotten any DLC) but I find bleeps are funny if used appropriately (in a T-rated game).

I'm all for helping with any of these. Though right now I have a gap in my character levels, nothing between 26 and 40.

If anyone on 360 wants to kill Master Gee (scarlett DLC) let me know. Need sirens especially, he is freakin tough.

I don't feel owed it or anything endemic of modern gamers during a Steam sale, but I was surprised the DLC didn't go on sale. I want to play it but prob going to wait until it goes at a discount.

Yeah after seeing the game 50% off I thought the DLC would at least be 25% off.

Maybe at Christmas.

Too many other games for me to buy DLC at full price right now.

Welp I finally maxed my character today, which I never did in the first game as much as I loved it. Still have the majority of the Torgue xpac to go through too. The Scarlett treasure trove endboss seems like a great place to farm for a new 50, just did that and got some nice goodies. Still not tired of this game in the slightest, there is just something so perfect about it.
