Borderlands 2 Catch-All

Is there a slot machine in Santuary? I thought I'd save money for something.. but other than ammo and health boosts every so often, I haven't found anything else. I've seen slot machines here and there but I don't remember where.

Moxxie's place has two.

There are also slot machines outside. I know for sure that there's one in The Dust near one of the ammo/health vendor sites.

You can also find hulks who carry slot machines on their backs. They look similiar to loot goons with the Dahl chests on the backs. However I haven't noticed any improved odds when playing these slots compared to Moxxi's.

Tossed a few bucks in the slot machine, and it finally came up with 3 vault symbols, and coughed up a legendary. On reload, you toss the launcher (it is a Tediore, after all). The launcher then starts hopping around like a rabbit on meth, spawning a grenade on each hop.

That rabbit is dynamite?

I have that one too.

Not really sure how I became Salvador of the Bandits, but I really like the look.

Soo.... has anyone else noticed that a few weapons are incapable of hitting for Crit damage? Specifically the Dart type pistols and Cannon style assault rifles so far.

I'm also really digging some of the gun manufacturer skins. I unlocked a sweet Torgue one with all the checkers that makes my Zer0 look like a formula 1 race car driver. I'll take a pic and post it later tonight.

That's exactly how my guy is equipped.

I was rocking a cannon style assault rifle last night and getting crits. It doesn't seem to be behaving differently than any other rifle I've used.

Speaking of crits: those crystal legged things are great for doing the critical hit challenges on. Get a weak weapon and just go to town on their legs and almost every hit will be a crit.

They're also great for money. My only gripe is that they are often around other enemies that are just annoying.

Damn, just met my first group of Stalkers. Those are some scary bastards!

That is what I thought too and then once I got used to them they aren't so bad. Felt the same way about threshers as well.

I think they way over-sold the number of enemies in this game though. Sure there are a lot of variations but there really only seem to be about 12 or so distinct types of enemies.

Just wait till you get to the second playthrough. They start mixing up stuff even more.

I jumped last night when a Spiderant jumped on my Runner. I wasn't sure if it was a glitch or not, but for some reason it freaked me out. Because there was a Spiderant. On my car. On a totally unrelated note, I hate spiders.

Threshers can go die in a fire (which coincidentally they often DO whenever my Siren passes by.)

Hate those things so much.
Especially the warpy type that sucks you towards itself.

The Rakk are the WORST though. Like bloody Cliff Racers on speed.

I've been wondering what kind of loot would result from 3 vault symbols. I always suspected it would be something really good. Now I know. I also know that, for whatever reason, I have utterly sh*tty luck regarding loot in BL2. I've dumped tens of thousands of dollars into the slot machines, and the best I've gotten is a few blues, not to mention that I still have not seen an orange on either of my 3 characters.

Despite the sh*tty luck with loot, I'm still having fun, although the desire to start playing Torchlight 2 is rising.

Between myself and two friends, we've probably dropped close to $200k into the slot machines at Moxxi's, none of us have hit 3 vault symbols. From what I've seen 3 bells/3 legs gets you blue/purples, and 3 Marcus heads gets you greens. Hell, took about $30k last night to just hit our first set of 3 single bars for the night.

100% agreed. It was nice when I got a spike shield, then I'd just let the damn rakks kill themselves on my shields

Odd... would you mind trying it on the firing range target? Maybe it just doesn't display there... I was doing damage comparisons and couldn't get any crits to show up using those weapons.

Around what level are you when you reach the end of the campaign?

The Rakk are a cake with Phaselock and the upgrade that sucks other enemies towards it

On a related note:

word is going around that you should NOT do sidequests on a new game+. Reason being is that they only reset once, and then will not be available for your 2.5/True Vault Hunter playthrough. If you save it for TVH mode, then you'll be much higher level, and will get better loot from those sidequests.

Damn wish i'd known that a bit sooner but i'm still very early in my playthrough at least, i just did the firehawk line though and got a level 35 orange firehawk shield....i wish it was level 50, but i'll save the rest of my quests now:)

This was true in BL1 as well, since playthrough 2.5 wasn't actually a full playthrough. I'm saddened to see that they didn't rectify this.

Yeah, that's definitely the case. Once you finish the 2nd playthrough, everyone gets set to level 50+. The quest rewards do not get set to level 50, however, so I don't think it is really worth worrying about. I don't know if the loot is actually going to be better than just farming Terra.

Edit: To emphasize how unimportant this is, I got the all side quests completed achievement after the second playthrough, and during all those sidequests, I didn't find any good loot.

Expect to do a lot of grinding then. Being underleveled for some of the story content sucks pretty hard if you're running solo. It's not like the first time through where you can just do as much damage to bosses as possible until you die, and then finish them off while in fight for your life mode.

Just read up a bit on the Gearbox forums, and to clarify, don't even accept the sidequests. Leave the exclamation point over whatever gives it to you. Once you accept it, it sets the level of the quest, regardless if you begin it or not.

And here is a list of all the sidequests that have blue or better rewards (that way you can do the other sidequests to level up, and leave these for sweet level 50 loot if you want)

http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/sh...

Well, I did quite a few exclamation point sidequests after playthrough 2, and I don't recall them changing to level 50. At any rate, I didn't get any good loot. I suppose there's a chance getting a good drop off of a GOD Goliath or something.

I got three bandit heads on a slot machine in Moxxi's and it dropped a grenade out of the top that exploded on me!

Three cherries and it popped open the side with a green weapon.
