Borderlands 2 Catch-All

If the pre-order bonus is for GameStop is just going to be arena battles then awesome, awesome, awesome. This part of the Mad Moxxi DLC was absolutely the least enjoyable/engaging of the first game's full life cycle. It would be surprising if anyone would actually find that to be an incentive at all. That it could be a pre-order exclusive is an anti-incentive, so great. I can easily be happy to ignore that.

This was my first reaction as well. If GameStop wants exclusivity on an area combat mode, that's quite generous of them. Means fewer people will have to suffer through it.

Looking forward to this one. I'm assuming most are going with PC?

All the cool kids are, yeah.

So that GameStop pre-order stuff will be on top of the other pre-order bonuses (aka. Premiere club)?

To my knowledge, yes. Gamestop just goes the extra, uh, mile I guess.

Gamestop can have their gold weapons, as long as I get free access to the Mechromancer regardless of where I make my pre-order.

Bleh. The appeal for Mad Moxxi's DLC for me was fighting level specific mobs, rather than the random "Might be my level (just right), might be lower level (boring), might be much higher (and watch my attacks just tickle)" problem that the critters wandering the story areas had. Made for tough, entertaining fights, and since I didn't care about the (trivial) loot or the missions, I just quit whenever I wanted to rather than slogging through to the end. While horde or survival modes might not work for all players, they are good for a change.

Having it as a bonus only for Gamestop forces me to skip the content or give money to a business I don't care to do business with. Annoying. Having it as a preorder only bonus means I'm stuck buying 'a pig in a poke', and the history of computer games has taught me to avoid that. So, I have to miss out on content because I'm wanting to wait and see how the reviews turn out. So doubly annoying.

While I normally find DLC abhorrent, I liked how Gearbox handled it for Borderlands. Expansion packs, nothing required, pulled together after the game succeeded so there was no reason to think it was content that should have been released with the original game, fair value, etc. Not liking how they are doing things this time. If the annoyance level gets too high, I'll probably end up doing what I do in these cases - not buying the dlc, or just not buying the game.

My understanding is that you get the Premiere Club stuff with any pre-order, anywhere.

Agreed, I care not for pre-order guns or arenas (which are the crappiest part of Borderlands). I care only for playing as a girl with robot parts who summons a Claptrap.

I just want to know when the Steam pre-order page is going live so I can throw money at the screen (otherwise I'm getting it from Amazon).

I want to buy the Ultimate Loot Chest edition.

I have no idea why.

Did someone say robot girl with the clap?

Are you sure that isn't the ultimate loot chest edition?

Does Joker know?

Borderlands 2 is why I love video games.

I wasn't aware of the property (much) until the Kickstarter campaign, but Borderlands is very much inspired by, or at least similar too, Shadowrun.

Erm.

[em]What?!?[/em]

Only in the evil mega-corporation sense.

Dude. That's not Shadowrun. That's like the entirety of 80s SF.

See Rykin's avatar? That's from the Neuromancer game, which was based by a book that William Gibson wrote in 1984 (5 years before the first edition of Shadowrun). Some people feel that book defined the "Cyberpunk" genre. It's what Lord of the Rings is to fantasy.

Actually my avatar is from the SNES Shadowrun game (I took the screenshot myself). Also Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? both predate Neuromancer, but I think they were more of a sci-fi noir that eventually came to be associated with cyberpunk after the fact.

...Never mind then.

The two collector's editions have been revealed.

Ultimate Loot Chest Edition for $150

Deluxe Vault Hunter's Edition for $100

That replica loot chest is freakin' sweet, but I don't do collector's editions. It's easy for me to resist when I realize that with the $50 - $100 I save by getting the standard edition, I could buy 2 or 3 or 4 other games.

That loot chest is awesome. But there's not a lot in the edition that makes me think it would really be worth it.

Just preordering would get me the game, and that's by far the most interesting item!

And yet... That loot chest is awesome!

There are plenty of collectibles that I don't hesitate to drop $100+ dollars on, but that chest just isn't enough to tempt me... It does look nice though.

Still waiting for a Steam pre-order page... *sigh*
