Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I got that same orange Level 4 grenade mod from Boom-Bewm. I wonder if the item distribution is friendlier on consoles for some reason, because I've gotten several purples and oranges and I'm only level 10.

Others are reporting it still works. Sorry if this sounds pedantic, but did you use caps?

To clarify, these are SHiFT codes, NOT XBL codes. They need to be entered into the SHiFT menu from in-game.

Thanks. I should have been more clear about that.

Blarg! Reading comprehension fail on my part. Doesn't help that the XBL and Shift codes look so similar...

Gearbox, WHY U NO LET ME REDEEM CODES THROUGH WEB INTERFACE?

I've found a fair number of purples, but I'm also using the +5% rare loot find artifact from the pre-order.

Yeah, I made the same mistake on the first round of twitter codes over the weekend. :/

Getting kinda tired of switching out weapons so much. The game should have 6 slots for guns or something. Maybe I'm just not finding good enough guns with enough effects on them. I use a main pistol for damage and for melee. I have an electric smg. I have a corrosive smg. I have a sniper rifle. I have an explosive pistol. I have a rocket launcher. I need a fire gun still, but that would give me yet another weapon to switch out.

Playing on PC. I think it just must be a semi-random drop from Boom Bewm. Getting it at that lvl was awesome though. Everything must die button.

Regarding Michael Mamaril, the rate of appearance on consoles will be patched, according to Gearbox.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...

Michael appears in all versions throughout the whole game. We can confirm that.

Currently console players are experiencing a higher rate of him appearing which is something we plan on addressing in a future update.

MY gold chest seems to contain nothing but crappy grenades

Well ok, actually I guess they are pretty good purple grenades, but still....two grenades in a row....yawn.

One key left...going to hang on to that for a bit I think

I often wonder how useful that artifact really is. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but my guess is that looting 100 chests with the artifact equipped would be equivalent in chance to looting 105 chests without the artifact. If that is the case, I'd rather have a combat useful artifact and while looting 105 chests. You would probably be able to loot the 105 chests more quickly because you wouldn't die so often.

It might be worth it for everyone to equip it just before downing Terramorphous. Since he drops about 100 items, each time you roll for an item you would get a 5% increased chance. It's probably not enough to really be worth it. Plus, you have to make sure the one with the relic gets the killing shot in.

Yeah, I got a sniper and SMG with my first using my Axton. I promptly put them in Claptrap's Secret Stash for my Zer0 and Maya.

I still have 2 more keys, but will probably wait and use 1 during a New Game+ run.

3 Gold Keys, 6 purple pistols.

Here is a link to a map of MM spawn locations:

Posting the link because some text on the map has some ever so slightly spoilerish stuff on it. (Not so bad as it's foreshadowed in the first quest you do when you get to Sanctuary)

I must admit that it took me a few hours to get into it, but now I'm having quite a lot of fun playing the game. I also like the fact its freakin' beautiful on PC - maybe some of the textures could be higher in resolution, but otherwise it looks great.

Question for those further along in the game. How viable is Zero as melee? Seems fun but I can also see it turning into a disaster at later levels, and I noticed also that a few enemies already have abilities that seem to specifically counter melee attacks (Nomads with flamers, Flynt and its AOE push-back). Please note it's a solo character, as well. I have a friend who may end up getting the game and we'll be rolling new character to start again from first level.

I'm level 29 and getting close to the end, running a melee Zero build. I have played solo, but mostly with friends.

I won't lie, it is hard starting out. I would die a lot, and did not feel like I was contributing much to the killing. I would cloak, try to move in position, melee the guy and then be standing right next to them like a deer in the headlights. If you have a powerful shotgun, then I recommend having that out so you can melee ---> shoot the enemy.

Things have gotten easier though. I would say that the "Execution" skill is a must have for any melee build. Besides dealing extra damage, it gives you a lunge attack that helps close the distance quickly. Right now, I am able to one shot most enemies (even Goliaths) using a pistol that gives me 100% extra melee damage. I am hoping that when I unlock the "Many Must Fall" skill, I will be able to bounce around the place one shotting guys and having my cloak continuously refresh. I get the feeling that once you unlock that skill, and keep stacking melee damage bonuses (skills, guns, relics, class mods), Zero will become a very powerful character.

I've gotten two useful items out of ten keys. One key got me two identical class mods that weren't very good (at least they were for my class).

That chest just loves giving out pistols. I won't continue to gripe about that whole system.

The only thing good I got out of the chest in 4 tries at level 50 was a decent shield worth about 30K and a decent SMG worth about 30K. Both are things I want to replace ASAP, but I haven't been able to find much better so far. I got a few okay things from Terra last night. I found a better sniper rifle that does fire damage and is worth about 40 something K. The most valuable things I have are a couple purple rocket launchers which are each worth 70 something K. Actually, come to think of it, I think I got one of those out of the golden key chest. I guess the Slayer of Terramorphous mod is pretty valuable too, it's worth about 60K IIRC. Speaking of which, I have a couple extra Terramorphous mods, so anyone getting to level 50, be sure to hit me up. It's a pretty sweet mod.

Also, anyone getting to level 50 and wanting to do Terramorphous runs always feel free to hit me up. I imagine solo players might start coming out of their shells for that.

IIRC, people did some pretty extensive testing with Mordecai's increased rare loot drop in BL1 and found it wasn't like, "5% more rare items," but rather, "5% increase to drop rate for rare items." So if the standard drop rate is 5 out of every 100 items, the added 5% doesn't make that 10 out of every 100 items, but rather 5.25.

And we can rest assured that people will do this same testing for the 5% rare drop pre-order mod. I'm still running it simply because I haven't found anything better, but I suspect the math will work out to be similar to Mordecai's ability, which is to say not worth it in the long run. Especially since Gearbox has now added guaranteed methods of getting free rares, both from Michael Mamoril and the golden chest (provided you have keys).

Michael Mamoril alone beats out that 5% mod, assuming his spawn rate is accurate.

I'm level 16 and I like to open up with a powerful shotgun when decloaking. Tediore shotguns can be useful for this since you also reload while cloaked and hit the enemy with the shotgun-grenade.

I think the relic also boosts Eridium drops too, so you have to take that into account.

After that run we had on the slots machine in The Dust last night, I don't think Eridium will be a problem.

I don't know man, I've got a buddy who eats the stuff like it were candy.

Seems like the washing machines in the HQ in Sanctuary have a really high Eridium drop rate; I seem to get one or two bars each time I open them. Or it could just be coincidence.

I got a tremendous flaming-explodifying shotgun and a wicked sniper rifle out of my gold chest. I opened it at level 8 (by accident), and I'm still using both of them at level 17. They're awesome!

The shotty can still one-shot kill almost everyone (outside of not goliaths, nomads, and loaders) with it's 3-rounds per shot fire damaging wickedness. They may have to burn a bit, but they all go down. It is good for taking down the shielded nomads, as the fire seems to get around their shields. Good times.

I am still using a scoped burst fire tedium corrosive pistol at level 22, got it probably 10 levels ago, but i haven't had anything that matches it against Hyperion techno-scum. The grenade effect from the reload hits for about 3k.

I just happened to see this ancient post when I was clicking through the first page. Have you played the Gollum spoof quest yet Chumpy?

Not if you don't see him he doesn't. Level 30, ~40 hours(steam counts the time I fell asleep playing) and I've yet to see him at all. And I do go everywhere in Sanctuary when I'm there.

By the same token, you may never see an extra rare drop because of that 5% mod. The point is that by the numbers you should see more rare items from the few times you encounter MM than you will from the mod. That doesn't count the Eridium that Lobster pointed out though.

+1, I've been using that grenade mod since 4 and still haven't found a better one. I've also learned the hard way that 0 fuse mods with elemental effects hurt you more than they hurt the enemy. I briefly ran a corrosive grenade mod with 0 fuse, and just throwing it would instantly deplete my shields.

Honestly, I feel pretty well done by the relic. I've seen what feels like more than my share of pink-purple weapons, as well as quite a few purple mods/weapons alongside a goodly number of blues. Most of em have even been worth using. Mamaril, OTOH, has literally done nothing for me. Is it possible I would have gotten the same loot? Sure it is, but that's a possibility. Getting loot from Mamaril has been a certainty in the negative.
