Does this bother anyone else: having a weapon that consumes three or four rounds of ammo per shot but doesn't have a clip size evenly divisible by that number? I'm having terrible OCD about it.

For what I have seen that just means you get an extra shot.

I know. It just bugs me.

Wonder if that last shot does less damage.

Also, I ordered through Green Man as well. Got Borderlands for $36 which was a nice deal. Their website does bog down sometimes, but it was certainly a good deal.

Has anyone been able to de-mistify the multiplayer connection issues? I can't connect to anyone on a private game (from my friends list). Nothing solves it... DMZ, port forwarding, firewall removal...

Weird thing is, I can join pub games just fine...?

That is weird. I haven't had any problems other than Steam going down once in awhile (maybe once per day).

I've had similar problems, in more games than just BL2 (Hoard notably). I play with a group of 4, and at any given time we can only connect to 1 of us, and it'll change each time. The result is that our sessions always begin with a 10 minute game of "find the host". I've tried ports, DMZ, disabling AVG, everything I can think of and it still happens, so I have to chalk it up to the game. I've experienced similar things with Goodjers, where I can join someone (Stylez) but not others (Pordapod).

In other news, Bullymongs are generous with rare customizations:

Nevermind. You figured it out while I was typing my reply.

I don't think so, it does take however many bullets it needs to fire from the reserve on the last shot of the clip though.

I'm finding this game way too easy once I've gotten one or two levels above the recommended level for the story misisons. It seems like the only solution is to actively avoid side quests and extra experience. Borderlands 1 had the same issue and I'm surprised they haven't gotten around to adding something as simple as a difficulty slider.

According to the wiki, there was a way to increase the difficulty of Borderlands 1, but it only worked in LAN mode with more than one player. Does anyone know of a way of making Borderlands 2 harder short of using a save editor to reduce your character's level?

What I did in BL1 was to NOT do side missions unless I was having a hard time, and then do more of them if I was. Worked pretty well, aside from me having to "mop up" a metric ton of them after I got to New Haven.

Yup. That's how the game is meant to be played if you want to level up quickly.

It turns out that rebooting my machine fixed all problems. I have a feeling just shutting down the steam client probably would have been good enough.

Of course, whenever a solution to any technical problem I have is "reboot it"... it makes me want to sugarstab myself in the face.

Can't seem to get a stable connection to steam or friends for the past couple days. Gonna see if I can jump into some quick matches today.

Alright, obligations are done and I now have the rest of the weekend to play! I'm at level 41, so I should be able to get to 50 by the end of the day.

How is your second playthrough going? Is the difficulty curve still smooth? Guns continue to get more awesome?

I want to try out a new character but it will be tough to start from scratch.

You can also backup your save file at (C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\SaveData\[Random Numbers]) before attempting side missions and then roll back your character. Then you can play the side missions at the recommended difficulty and then erase the excess XP gained while doing so.

Backing up your save files is a good practice in any case. There have been reports of save data corruption and Steam Cloud sync issues deleting progress. Also some more information for tweaking your game including ways to boost performance: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Borderl...

Any tips on beating

Everyone should do this.

You definitely need to do side quests because the enemies change and are a lot tougher. I actually went into someone else's game for awhile, so my main quest line is trivial at the moment. Guns just get better and better. Enemies just get more awesome.

I still haven't been finding orange weapons.

Change them to:

Awesome! You just saved me a couple hundred dollars! I was thinking of upgrading my Radeon 5770 due to this little annoyance.

And I actually kind of like the effect. I figure it's the items being digitally created when I open the containers.

Technically, setting the first two lines appears to fix it. I have yet to observe what the second two lines do, if anything.

So what are the maximum number of backpack slots and bank slots that you can get? I've gotten 27 backpack slots and the black market won't sell me any more.

So I guess the max is 27 then

Try increasing your Charisma. I'm up to 36 slots.

Time to upgrade your bank slots then I guess. I'm still trying to max out my ammo limits because gosh do I burn through that stuff quickly.

Hey Liquid, thanks for the play today.

You got a small army with you, drops were nice as well

Thanks for joining us and continually pulling my butt out of the fire.

Small army indeed. (I'm a bad dad.) Hope you grabbed some loot, seemed like you were shy about grabbing stuff. Gotta be fast with my little hoarders.
