Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I'm kind of sick of hearing Zer0 make Yugioh references.

Zer0's comments are really the only thing I don't like about the game so far. Does he need to give a monologue about how he's so mysterious and his methods are inscrutable every time he casts a decoy? Kind of ruins the mysterious stranger motif if he's boasting about it all the time.

He should just yell "THIS IS A SNEAK ATTACK!"

That's the joke? I can imagine it gets pretty old after awhile. Maya's comments haven't been annoying at all which has been nice.

Salvador just calls people a 'pendejo' and badly hums "In the Hall of the Mountain King". He's basically the heavy from TF2.

The Golden Keys really aren't that great. You find lots of purple weapons of varying rarity by the time you get to the end of the game. You aren't going to find an orange weapon in that chest. I haven't opened mine yet, but by now, I imagine I can find better loot elsewhere. Certainly by the time you get to 50, you're going to be finding much better stuff. That chest won't be too worthwhile.

I wouldn't sweat it.

No sweating for sure, it's just such a missed opportunity. This could have been yet another way to add value to exploration, or play up some easter eggs in the game, or add material reward to some achievements, or some other cool thing. Instead, it's a marketing gimmick, and that makes me sad because I hate to see missed opportunities.

By the end of NG+ in BL1, I was sporting all Orange weapons, and regularly vendoring purples I found, so I'd be shocked if the golden chest has any value in True Vault Hunter mode (which I'm assuming, based on description, is the equivalent of NG+/NG++ from BL1).

I've enjoyed Axton's comments so far, they fit his character portrayed in his intro audio cassette.

That would be rad. Maybe they'll have a key mechanic in the DLC.

I'd kind of like that better. Robot needs to shut his trap (card).

Not to mention random "oh yeah!" and other cliched action movie one-liners. Which I freaking enjoy

I like how he has a happy face button.

I've read that there is an option to turn off the quips?

That is true. It's available in the options.

Bah, looks like they patched the key cheat. Oh well, I guess it's for the best. No one man should have all that power.

Link? I'm curious what the fix was, if they detail that.

No real link, just reports that it no longer works.

I hope I never find this gun

I found it. Yeah, it's brutally cursed. That mission is awesome.

I signed up for Shift and linked it with my Steam account, but now when I log in, it says there's no such email registered for Shift.

No keys for me.

Crhis, I get what you mean about the falling. I think in most games once you're falling your velocity appears constant. Because the gravity is light on Pandora (I think they did say it was a fraction of Earth's gravity in the first game) there is time to notice how your speed increases with the effect of the physics.

I've ditched higher powered sniper rifles to stick with the one that gives my zer0 a +50% melee combat. Especially because I can now do a bayonet charge.

I'm seriously glad I'm not the only one who gets a little queasy when I jump/fall from somewhere high.

Jumping off the ice cliff down to the frozen bay in the first hour of the game really did a number on me.

Whoa, me too! It made me feel like on a small roller coaster. Never had that happen in a game. I sorta liked it!

Oh man do I love me some spiniguns!

Ok, I don't see anyone else posting this so I'm going to say it. I am not liking this game as much as BL1. I feel like they made the game more FPS and less RPG. I suck at FPS and I find myself fighting for my life every time there is more than 2 people attacking me. My shields seem to pop at 3 shots and cover doesn't seem to block anything for me.

Does anyone have any tips to help me? I have tried playing Gunzerker and Commando and am not sure if I have the desire to try another character. I loved BL1 so much and was so excited for this game. I find I'm forcing myself to enjoy it and feel like I'm playing multiplayer in TF2 (die 3 steps from spawn).

What did you play in BL1?

Maybe we can help you figure out what new class will suit you better.

Getting alot of screen tearing right in the middle of my eye-line while playing my first play session. V-Sync didn't seem to work.
And the only difference I got after messing with the various graphic settings only resulted in giving me a headache if I move too much ingame. Changed back to default settings and the headache inducing effect went away but the screen tears remained.

Told my brain to consider it part of the UI HUD overlay effect (sightly faulty ECHO module perhaps?) and off I went for the next 3 hours getting a Siren to Lvl 7.

Loving the game, much better balance in loot drops over BL1 IMHO. Almost each gun felt different, and the various manufacturer Brands now stand out alot more from each other.

One thing that did bug me was the respawn rates in certain areas was too high. And it didn't help that there is a boss fight in the area that just triggers all of them constantly as I was trying to kill the boss. In fact, I had the Boss respawn back at it's starting point with full health twice because I lost sight of it for too long fighting off everything else. Walked into that mission at lvl 5 and out at lvl 7. Looked like I was trying to grind levels.

Stupid question. I'm trying to complete Tiny Tina's sidequest.

Spoiler:

I can't for the life of me figure out how to find her first guest Sir Biggles - something. I tried going through the bandit camp and following the rail tracks, but I keep going into the DMZ and the gun towers threaten to shoot me. Thanks in advance.

The path is immediately to your left when you enter the zone. You can't get to it from the camp at all.

I started finding really awesome stuff tonight. Combined with my turret its made my soldier become just epic..flyin through the story now. Level 27 atm.

"Fires as fast as you can pull the trigger" is one of my favorite attributes. It can make even a boring gun incredibly powerful.

The one pictured above has a high power scope on it and is super stable in firing as fast as you can pull the trigger and has crit damage bonus...it's basically a revolver that's a super rapid fire extremely accurate sniper rifle that can land all 8 rounds on a head @ 100 yards for massive crits.

So I derped and used my chest key at level 8. I was like "oh snaps a chest!" and it opened with two purples and was like "hell yeah!" then I realized it took my key.

I signed up for Shift and got another one that I'm saving for max level. I was surprised it didn't prompt you to make sure you wanted to open it.

My favorite gun so far is an assault rifle that fires full-auto from the hip and three round burst when ADS.

I'm a level 7 Zero and enjoying this quite a bit so far, although it's been all solo. I'm also a bit of an explorer, as other people have mentioned, and usually go in the opposite direction of the quest marker just to see what's over there. So far it has been a gigantic waste of time.

I got a pretty uber orange weapon (for low levels anyway) right out of the gate so I haven't been troubled with anything so far. Between the auto-pistol of acid death and Zero's damage bonus during decoy I haven't come close to dying yet, all the way through Flynt.

If any other explorer types want to give it a go this weekend, hit me up on steam.

That gun is hilarious.

A few observations on weapon manufacturers so far:

Vladoff sniper rifles are quite nice. They tend to have low recoil and a high fire rate, but more importantly, they seem be have more stability and "float" before your first shot. Hyperion snipers on the other hand seem much more "floaty".

Automatic Hyperion weapons are great for the Gunzerker. The longer you fire, the more accurate they get, which complements the Gunzerker's skills.

Some Dahl miniguns (assault rifles) do about 3x more damage when you zoom in with them compared to when you fire them from the hip. There may be other weapons that get a damage boost from zooming in, but so far I've only noticed this effect with Dahl. There's a practice target in Markus's basement that is useful for getting damage values.

Only a level 10 on PC and I've already found a gun (in a chest) that I think is going to last me a while:

Gunzerking with this thing is a blast :D.
Didn't the old pre-50 level Hellfire's only do around 42dmg in BL 1?

Anyway, can't wait until I find my first Legendary anything :D.
