Borderlands 2 Catch-All

If this is hinting at the ability to play both Lilith and Maya, I am stoked. I'm going to play Maya, because I always play the healer, but my wife was Lilith in BL and isn't a huge fan of Zero in BL2, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I think from the dev diaries, you just meet the first game characters in the game along the way.

Doesn't mean they won't get added in the DLC, or as their own DLC.

So anyone on the 360 playlist getting this from Gamestop?

I am

Moggy is a sad Moggy. I'm heading out to school for two days just as it unlocks, so I'm going to have to spend two days with the knowledge that it's there, waiting for me....

Can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait! I may be a filthy skimmer, but anyone know if the pc version is compatable with a joystick/corded xbox 360 controller?

Would be a pleasant surprise if they let you play as the BL1 characters after beating the game though. As much as gone into this game, I do have hope they'll unlock the first game's character for us somewhere down the line, even if it's with eventual DLC... who really cares of it messes with "the story" when they show up in it... it's not like I haven't been in BL games with four Rolands!

Edit: Here's the blerb about the Golden Key:

ChrisF wrote:

So, you’ve got a Golden Key in your profile and you start up the game. What happens next?

Firstly, you’ll have to get to the city of Sanctuary. This should take you about three hours (two hours to play through the missions leading up to Sanctuary, and one hour for physical recovery after you injure yourself laughing at the impeccably written dialog).

Then, you’ve got a decision to make. See, the loot inside the Golden Chest is always of “very rare” (purple) quality and scaled to your character’s level at the moment you open the chest. If you’ve only got one Key, you need to consider: do I want some high-quality loot right now, or do I want to wait until I’m closer to the (considerably more difficult) end of the game? Do I want my Level 21 Maya to open the chest, or should I switch to my Level 33 Axton?

Keep in mind that you cannot trade or sell Golden Keys, and once you’ve used a Key to open the Golden Chest, that Key is gone for good. So, you know. Choose carefully.

Whatever your decision, the loot you get from the Golden Chest is like any other piece of loot in the game – you can trade it, stash it, or sell it at your own discretion!

Sounds like you only get one for all your characters. And it doesn't sound like it is unique loot you can only get from the chest.

Thanks for the info about the golden keys. I didn't know anything about that.

Groovy, thanks:)

Since the gold chests just give you a random purple, I think I'll probably open it relatively early. Nothing worse than waiting to open it only to find something that worse than what you've accumulated over your many hours of playing.

How much I want to play, I at least have to hit 80 in GW2 first. It's too difficult to juggle games at the moment. I'm 72 now so hopefully will only be a day or two behind you guys

Says 10 hours till release on Steam. Woohoo! Thought it would be tomorrow at 1 p.m.

I'm trying to finalize how to co-op this with my kids. I'd need at least two copies for the 360 (I haven't gotten it for 360 yet) since it offers split-screen online support now. Or I could just get two more PC copies from GMG at $38 a pop. Looks like the 360 players haven't updated the GWJ Games doc so I'm unsure what the head count is.

I was just about to ask if there was a doc already made for the 360 GWJ'rs that I could add myself to too. After clicking, however, I've found that I'm already on the list :). Ah Convenience.

Spoiler:

And short memory span ;)

Are most of you guys going straight for a single player first experience or looking to co-op day one?

I'll probably solo it for a bit.

I'm up for co-op, but if nobody's on around my level, I'll play SP.

Gumbie wrote:

I'll be running co-op day one (when the physical copy (PC) arrives, that is). And on Xbox as soon as 1:15am PST. Even if I have to deal with pubbies...

I'll probably solo the first few hours to give myself a chance to get into the atmosphere and get a good feel for the ways it has changed since the first one. If the story is paced really well I might end up running though the entire game solo, but I'd be really surprised. In the first one it started to slump a bit around lvl 10 for me, at which point I went searching for co-op buddies.

Edit: yay, consultant

I'll be down for coop from the start. Can't say I'm all that excited to play this game for the riveting story beats.

And it looks like I have the day off work tomorrow, so who is running with me at midnight tonight (PC)?

I'll be looking to co-op as much as possible. Hopefully single player won't be as boring as it was in Borderlands 1 but this is really meant to be a co-op game.

Count me in. I would prefer to play coop off the bat.

So, what is the color order by rareness this time? I was assuming that purple is the most rare. Previously, it was pearlescent.

Edit: Looks like Pinkish purple is the new pearl, maybe. I would guess that the gold chest is giving you that color.

Here's how I expect to play my first day:

Anxiously waiting for the game to arrive. Start installing the game just before having to go to work. Spend eight hours at work. Come home and go straight to bed because I have to be back at work exactly 8 hours after getting off work. *Cuts off remainder of work related rant*

Oh man, I'm so excited! (No really, I am terribly excited about the game, just going to suck I probably won't get to play it till Wednesday.)

So... if anyone wants to start fresh Wednesday evening, let me know!

I think it's the same. The quote that Mantid posted called purples "very rare" which, according to the wiki, is what they were in Borderlands 1. Still below the various legendary tiers.

I'll be running through the whole game solo.

Anti-social high five!

Whaaaaaaa?!? That's too bad. Yeah, if it's just a purple then the treasure chest will be worthless. I'll let you use your key and let us know.

Hrm...wouldn't an anti-social high five be a clap?

More like a fap.

Depends on what Neurosis he may have. He could high-five his imaginary friend, computer monitor, or other object. :p

I loled; and then thought about the socio-psychological implications of giving a high five to your imaginary friend... or split personality...

I will be online (on 360) when I get it tomorrow and will be looking for co-op. Until it proves otherwise, in my mind Borderlands doesn't offer any story- or writing-related campaign content that requires focus or attention from me. It's all loot, exploring, and killing.
